I like that beginning section because nobody really talks about the horrid PTSD that the STARS folks must've suffered after going through the mansion incident.
I loved this game. I think it suffers a bit from a lack of overall phase 1 Nemesis, and some of the old opportunities being gone, but it was a great remake overall.
I apreciate it. But I feel its a step down from REmake 2. Its shorter and graphically downgraded. Limbs just explode and dissappear when severed now while in 2 they realistically tore off and stayed. It felt more like a reimagining than a REmake. And I dont even want to talk about resistance. I just played both tutorials and wrote it off as a buggy, low frame rate mess.
I think the nature of RE3 was always gonna make it less impressive then RE2. It's when they started heading towards the more action based gameplay over survival horror. Due to this it has to give up a lot of polish 2 had. The amount of stuff on the screen alone is a massive burden. Horror is alot easier on graphics cause it's as much the atmosphere then the monsters in it. RE3 I feel is more of a "Let's see how strong we can make the environments".
I’m super happy that Pat is a rabid RE fan like me, but the way he plays with NEVER carrying a single healing item on his person drives me CRAZY. So many preventable deaths if he just carried a healing item. Two guns, two sets of ammo, a knife and a healing item is the standard and he refuses to do so. Constantly taking damage and barely squeaking by to get back to the box and get health before taking more damage and having to find another box to get more health. I love you Pat but for the love of God please carry a single healing item on you.
Not to mention that when he does have a healing item and hes in danger, he refuses to use them. I'm only at the R.P.D. part, as of writing, but everytime during the first Nemesis fight that he died, it wasn't him being greedy like someone said in chat, it was him refusing to heal when needed with 2 healing items in his inventory.
I wouldn't call that "Standard" you need maximum room to pickup resources, having to run back and forth to pickup/store items isn't much different than having to respawn.
Note that the pouches from the shop dont come out the gate, but appear as pickups as they would in easy mode. That why youre warned that buying it has no effect on assisted.
"the combat data on this is worth millions!" the question they never answer in RE is who the hell is paying for homebrew death battle footage between Podunkton USA not-SWAT members and Walls of Meat that only exist because they blew it up five times and then tried to melt it? like couldn't they just stick a gopro in while they're doing all the super-zombie procedures in the first place? Or like append a camera to the rocket launcher or flamethrower or the standard issue off-brand-tyrant model trenchcoat? Sure, it'd probably stop working the first time it gets set on fire and falls into a pit, but still.
RE5 and RE6 as well as Rev1 and Rev2 establish that it's not just random people that buy the data it's big corporations who then use that data as proof of effectiveness when selling to terrorists and governments
Is he actually filming it? Or just writing witness reports? "And then she took a railgun and shoved it in its mouth like that guy from Doom." Thatll be a million bucks.
@@Svoorhout85 That's a good point, how did Nikolai record the data? Is he just carrying a camera with him all the time and just literally recorded Jill fight the thing? Does he use the security cameras on the facility? What if they break?
Flamethrower nemesis is SO easy to cheese. Just run around the debris and shot him in his backpack. Making sure to pick up the items before the end of the fight. You can do it with the pistol...I think.

Fun fact: That hollywood classic quad barrel rocket launcher is called an M202 flash and was specifically designed to launch rockets full of napalm as a replacement for flamethrowers. While there will be an explosive yield of some sort it wouldnt be as powerful as a conventional warhead. The one Carlos shoots nemesis with in the beginning of the game is probably the closest representation of what the weapon actually does in real life.
The best part about Carlos' design is how fucking stupid it is for a biohazard response operative to have that much hair. He'll never get any kind of protective mask to seal with all those luscious locks in the way, but being sexy is more important than breathing clean air

The third time NEAR PERFECT and the game TOTAL FUCKS HIM hard! Like the death was obv. Bullshit, but even before that theres a sequence where he's in front of the desk for 30 secs due to game fuckery. GOOD IMPROVEMENT/JOB PAT
Talking about no-damage runs of this game, CarcinogenSDA has already uploaded two for hardcore mode. The newest one is no item box also. edit: now he's done Inferno no-damage/no shop items too.
I assume that in the intro sequence when they are loading up Nemesis in the chopper its at the Umbrella Base in Chicago because Nemesis came from Umbrellas Europe branch so they had to essentially stun him so he wouldn't kill everybody when being transported, Once in Chicago they pumped him full of stimulants to wake him up, loaded him on the chopper and flew him to Racoon city.
i like the idea that nemesis is basically an eversor assassin from 40k. they keep him in a coma and then load him in a tube, pump him full of pcp and tell him all of stars called him a bitch before dropping him on racoon city lol.
I dont think they do. Limbs still get blown off but it's harder to do and theres less detail. Also ragdoll isn't as good. Saving on resources or something
There's a lot to come down on about this game but I think my favorite is the apparent implication that Jill somehow drugged herself so hard that she SLEPT THROUGH the nearly full day of urban zombie warfare that took place in Racoon City and even apparently inside of her own building.
This time I will actually come to the defense of this game on this one, as someone who also has PTSD (as Jill clearly does) and headaches (again considering her career and trauma she's taken she clearly has) when I get my bad headaches and take my big meds? Dude I am fucking out like a light dead to the world! So considering the pharmacy we saw sitting on her nightstand? Yeah I can actually believe she slept through that shit.
I actually really enjoyed this game. I thought it was super fun, and very different than RE 2, which is what I wanted, because I mean if I wanted that game I could just play that. I really don't get everyone's distaste for the hospital fight either, I had a blast playing that section. I do wish Pat would have figured out that stunning enemies with the stun grenade or electric bosses allows carlos to get a free punch in, it helps a hell of a lot.
RPD re-run probably the best part, getting to see Marvin and those other officers getting fucked up was much more interesting to me than the tiny , tiny sandbox city you first run through. I don't mind the extra action here, but I fear Capcom going right back to their old ways with RE 3rd-person action. Going right back to that would be a horrible way to go considering what RE2make just accomplished reviving the series' slower-paced survival horror roots...
TBH I thought the "tiny, tiny sandbox" city section felt bigger and more exploration friendly than the (really linear, once you understand it) RPD in RE2make.
To be fair original RE3 had a more action like feel too. It makes sense, since Jill is basically a trained SWAT member who survived one round already, and Carlos a military spec-ops. Leon was a newbie, and Claire a civilian of course it was tense with them. Moving forward we need less trained protagonists. Either way I liked this game. I'm on a second playthrough.

@@kingcaesar3693 RE resistance too; not as obviously as re7, but Valerie downright mentions Yoko's backstory in her own backstory.
And January's backstory hints she might have been working for Alyssa.
I should also add that the subway and the subway company are also additions from outbreak, the original re3 using a trolley instead and having no mention of a subway system/company that I can recall.
I've heard there is also a reference to the zoo (in particular the elephant turned undead that you have to deal with in the zoo stage), but I havent seen it myself.
God I hope this is not just capcom making coy references and they are actually going for a re-release or sequel for the outbreak games

@@Svoorhout85 I really hope so
I loved this game. I think it suffers a bit from a lack of overall phase 1 Nemesis, and some of the old opportunities being gone, but it was a great remake overall.
Daniel Daykin ok game bad remake.
@Stefan Voorhout the main problem is the pacing, it’s all over the place. Btw I feel like this game graphically looks better than re2 remake
@@Svoorhout85 apparently the reason give for limbs disappearing when hitting the floor is because of character models limitation on screen.
Coming back to this nearly a year later is wild considering how committed Pat likes to be to playing these games The Most Optimally
"But what if I need it later?!"

couldn't they just stick a gopro in while they're doing all the super-zombie procedures in the first place? Or like append a camera to the rocket launcher or flamethrower or the standard issue off-brand-tyrant model trenchcoat? Sure, it'd probably stop working the first time it gets set on fire and falls into a pit, but still.
RE5 and RE6 as well as Rev1 and Rev2 establish that it's not just random people that buy the data it's big corporations who then use that data as proof of effectiveness when selling to terrorists and governments

I think the reason racoon city went to shit so bad is cause the disease makes the host actively look for other hosts to infect.
It's that, plus the fact that animals are T-virus carriers too. Rodents and birds did their work as well
Basically the T-Virus is transmittable via bites/infected fluids. Through zombie crows. The literal drinking water and even airborne. There's also the G-Virus running amok so I'd imagine both strains in combination with both infected humans and animals alike was what ultimately lead to the city getting super fucked in the end.
Well the real worlds proving we dont need a disease to do that

It just sets the camera in the direction you're moving. It's kinda weird
Jill has to be a tyrant at this point, she takes rockets to the face and still back talks Nemesis after
this is like the 0 death re4 speed run they did
Jill should have been straight up dead at least 5 times in the first 15min.
And that's being generous. Would it have been so hard to at least have air bags go off when she drove off the roof? It would have been miles more believable.

Bitch can't even swim is my new favorite resident evil line
I love seeing Elmo sit up beside Pat
I assume that in the intro sequence when they are loading up Nemesis in the chopper its at the Umbrella Base in Chicago because Nemesis came from Umbrellas Europe branch so they had to essentially stun him so he wouldn't kill everybody when being transported, Once in Chicago they pumped him full of stimulants to wake him up, loaded him on the chopper and flew him to Racoon city.

I agree, I think the game is a ton of fun and the hospital fight isnt bad at all
RPD re-run probably the best part, getting to see Marvin and those other officers getting fucked up was much more interesting to me than the tiny , tiny sandbox city you first run through.
Nilly Nush I mean 7 was the one that went back to survival horror and we’ve known 3 was gonna be more action based since its first announcement so
To be fair original RE3 had a more action like feel too.
