You found a perfect place to celebrate Christmas! What a beautiful town. It looks like one can travel in Poland relatively easily if you can't speak the language.
Young generation can speak decent English, so its not necessary for tourist to be scared Polish is extremely hard to learn for native English speakers, so no one will be upset about fact, that you cant speak Polish :)
I love Zakopane, every time we visit the in-laws in Piwniczna-Zdroj , we drive from Krakow Airport straight to Zakopane. Spend 4/5 days there, winter is the best but the wife prefers the summer.
I suggest taking the cablecar to Kasprowy wierch a mountain 1,987 mt above the Sea level. It starts from Kuźnice and if you are going buy the ticket online cause is always a very long queue. Also you can go to Morskie Oko a lake in the Tatra mountains. There are many buses from zakopane to Morskie Oko.
The light sign on top "Kraina Światła" literally means "The Land of Light" and the whole place is called GUBAŁÓWKA which is just a proper name of the place.

The church you went into in Zakopane is called the Church of the Holy Family and is significant as Karol Wojtyla would go to mass there when he holidayed there while he was Archbishop of Krakow before becoming Pope Jon Paul II. Having been to zakopane in the summer it's every bit as gorgeous in winter. Taking the cable car to the top of Gubolowka mountain you get the views across the town, in the summer is breathtakingly gorgeous.

The signs you guys had some challenge with were: Gubalowka - which is the name of the place on the hill 😄, and the second sign was "Kraina Swiatla" which is the "Land of Light". Anyway I suggest you make your way to Bachledówka to see the wooden church (real marvel) and perhaps the local clergy could give you a tour of the chapel and its history - trust me: you will learn a lot 😀
Try to check if during your stay in Zakopane there are any competitions in ski jumping on Wielka Krokiew. Poland in last two decades was a leading nation in ski jumping

This is a great video, Zakopane looks truly magical during the Winter/Christmas period - we're in awe! Me and my partner went to Zakapone in the summer and as you mentioned in your video, it's incredible even without the snow - there are so many hiking trails and incredible sights to be seen, places like Morskie Oko and Kasprowy Wierch are true beauty spots which you can hike to. We'd definitely recommend a revisit in the summer (we'll keep an eye out 😉) One last thing, anyone won the stretchy poo? 😄 Wesolych Swiat i Szczesliwego Nowego Roku (Merry Christmas & Happy New Year).

Zakopane is wonderful, but you can also try some other winter destinations in Poland: Krynica Zdrój & Muszyna, Wisła, Karpacz, Szczyrk, Kudowa Zdrój, Lądek Zdrój, and Szklarska Poręba, where you can also take cheap train to Czech Republic, to Liberec (one of winter destinations in ČR).

The trip to Morskie Oko (bus and then the walk) should be started early (about 7.00-8.00) The walk is quite long, but it is worth it!

Look for significant differences with other countries :)
The signs you guys had some challenge with were: Gubalowka - which is the name of the place on the hill 😄, and the second sign was "Kraina Swiatla" which is the "Land of Light". Anyway I suggest you make your way to Bachledówka to see the wooden church (real marvel) and perhaps the local clergy could give you a tour of the chapel and its history - trust me: you will learn a lot 😀

Try to check if during your stay in Zakopane there are any competitions in ski jumping on Wielka Krokiew. Poland in last two decades was a leading nation in ski jumping

This is a great video, Zakopane looks truly magical during the Winter/Christmas period - we're in awe! Me and my partner went to Zakapone in the summer and as you mentioned in your video, it's incredible even without the snow - there are so many hiking trails and incredible sights to be seen, places like Morskie Oko and Kasprowy Wierch are true beauty spots which you can hike to. We'd definitely recommend a revisit in the summer (we'll keep an eye out 😉) One last thing, anyone won the stretchy poo? 😄 Wesolych Swiat i Szczesliwego Nowego Roku (Merry Christmas & Happy New Year).

Zakopane is wonderful, but you can also try some other winter destinations in Poland: Krynica Zdrój & Muszyna, Wisła, Karpacz, Szczyrk, Kudowa Zdrój, Lądek Zdrój, and Szklarska Poręba, where you can also take cheap train to Czech Republic, to Liberec (one of winter destinations in ČR).
