Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard AND Joan Fontaine would be clawing at the sides of their graves. With Jungle Red nails.

See, if everybody waited until marriage and stopped fornicating, this wouldn't happen. Then no woman would having any business fornicating with any man that is not her husband and no man would have any business fornicating with and woman that is not his wife. Both are at fault. The adulterer and the adulterous.

So nice to know that Hollywood has so little imagination that some writer has to rip off a Clare Booth Luce classic old hit play that became a hit movie, and "update" it into something that doesn't look half as clever or funny, and then take credit for "writing" it. Baloney. Garbage like this is a huge reason why I rarely bother to go to the movies any more.
wow this trailer actually makes this film look GOOD :O i watched this yesterday and it was absolutely awful! why would such big stars agree to do this?!
When people do remakes I usually get mad, but with old Hollywood Classics that most generations have (let's be honest) forgotten, I'm glad about these kind of remakes because they highlight films that then generate buzz and motivate younger audiences to do their research.
Right... I totally saw this coming when this movie came out, that people are going to be whining about it that's sexist. It's funny how when a men's movie and their stereotype is considered comedy, yet this movieis sexist towards women with their stereotypes. It's makes no sense.
Actually this was based on a playwrite written in 1936 about the class system. The entire idea of the play was about gossiping women and how back then it was "expected of men to cheat on their wives." I must admitt this movie is NOTHING like the original play.
I have never once laughed so hard during a birth scene lol. Not a bad movie. I like the idea of only women being in the movie but would have loved to see what Steven looked like lol.
I don't know what some of these people are talking about. I liked it. It's a remake of a classic, sure, so they made it more modern, of course. But I liked it well enough. I always love to see Meg Ryan. Eva Mendes also did a good job, I really hated her lol. Jada Pinkett-Smith did really good. They all did. AND I could identify with some of it, like the friendship between Annette Bening and Meg Ryan. I don't know. I'd recommend it. But, that's just my opinion.
This movie is a good example of why Hollywood needs to stop with the remakes. The original film is so much better. If you haven't seen it, go watch it. If you're into vintage fashion, then you're going to really enjoy this film. The fashion show is worth it all by itself.
Saw the original (the '39 version), was going to see this one... Didn't. The '08 version just didn't have that same punch as the '39 version. Still, now after watching the trailer, I'm wondering "What the hell was I thinking when I passed this gem up?"

It's supposed to be a remake of the orignal 1939's version of the movie starring Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. It makes more sense when it's set in the late thirties because in those days divorces were sort of commen, but were frowned upon. But because they remade it for present day, the plot doesn't work as well as it did back then. And in the orignal there weren't any men either.

I'm gonna give this one a shot. I have the original and I've seen it 50x times. I hope it's not too bad. At least Bette Midler looks like she'll make a good Countess De Llave. It's gonna be tough to see if Sylvia Fowler's shoes can be filled by anybody but Rosalind Russell..Don't expect much - but it can't be as bad as that awful 50's musical version - "The Opposite Sex". Anne Sheridan was the only thing redeeming about that one! Joan Collins was even awful playing Crystal.
I am so glad that I didn't see this movie fifteen years ago. I would have been devastated. While watching Megs scenes, I just kept having to remind myself that I wasn't looking at Elizabeth Montgomery. And then, they transformed her into Jennifer Aniston. And I had to deal with that. And then it hit me. The adorable , unique, beautiful face that we all adored and loved... Is gone forever. I barely recognize her. I just hate when actresses do this to themselves. They under estimate how much we grow to love them through the years of their growth. We, the fans, become comfortable with our favorites. It's OK if we all grow old together. We become endearing in our maturity, our flaws and frailties.
i think the point is that there is not a single man anywhere, at any time in this flick, not even in the background. Yet oddly enough they all seem to be enslaved by men in some background fashion. All this movie teaches me is that women are only obsessed with getting their way, keeping everything at the status quo, and staying at the top with nobody beneath them rising up. How charming.

Debra Messing's character in the most calm voice: I'm so sorry that I won't be able to stay longer cos my water just broke.
Just found out its called the women because there were literally no men in the movie
Shakira tje there is a male baby at the very end of the film and there was also no men in the original which is much better might I add

Once again it’s the single woman who gets blamed, not the cheating husband
You mean the single woman who knew he was married and still pursued him? That one?
