Mistake to learn about social etiquette from Jane Austen books and the movie 'The Leopard' - now it stands out whenever you see people talking about business or money like that at public gatherings. From what I can tell that was considered uncouth for centuries.
I agree with cobb salad: no beets! Beets are not a traditional cobb salad ingredient. They don't really fit with the rest of the ingredients in one, too earthy. Great on certain other salads though.
Julie was already having an epiphany with her own life in terms of wanting to feel something and I think she realizes in this scene she no longer relates to these women anymore and outgrew them. They clearly went in a different direction in life than where she is trying to go.
I personally hate blue cheese, so I always ask for a subsitute when I order cobb salad. But now, I am noticing that many restaurants are listing their cobb salad with an alternate cheese. Maybe people are constantly substituting? 🤔
I always felt bad for the actress playing the "we're assembling a parcel" friend. I know she's had a pretty decent acting career but she looks so much like Angelina Jolie it probably held her back.
I've never had a Cobb Salad before but.....no offence to people who like it but it sounds a bit bland compared to the rest of the food we see in this movie. And does it count as a Cobb Salad if they have a quarter of it all taken out?
A Cobb salad is very tasty and filling, but I do agree that compared to the rest of the cordon bleu dishes featured in the film it is most definitely not as fancy, but I think that was the whole point of this scene: to see the contrast in Julie's life pre-Julia Child. Also, a Cobb salad has a lot of ingredients so removing one is not having a quarter taken out. The most common ingredients are greens (traditionally romaine lettuce), chicken, egg, bacon, tomato, avocado and blue cheese with a red wine vinaigrette. I've never seen one with beets, though, but I guess that just shows that there are many more you can add.

This is the moment when you realize that your friends you’ve known for a while are not meant to be in your present life anymore. And that’s okay
Don’t you ever remove a breadstick from my hand!!!! I’m an adult
I would actually crash out
Hahaha! Yeah. I would've taken it back. That's mine! Lol.
I do love a good Cobb salad occasionally, but they do get old
Beautiful food movie… and all they want is a COBB SALAD?!?!
Fear of getting "fat"...
Cobs salads are actually great, but ONLY with all the yummy fixings

R.I.P Julie Powell ❤
I'm thirty one and I'm jobless. I need to get my act together 😅
Don’t get down on yourself, you’ll get there 💜
I’m definitely a Cobb salad with no blue cheese kind of person 😂

I'm autistic. I so feel this when I'm trying to vibe with NTs.
YEAH 🎉 I feel your pain 😢😅
How are these her friends?

Just in case that's a logistical question, I'm pretty sure they're her college friends
Isn't it bad form/manners to toast yourself?
