Thank you for reaching out to Horton's Orthotics & Prosthetics. We highly suggest to always consult with your Prosthetist BEFORE manipulating any device given to you. Your Prosthetist should do all modifications before delivery of your items to customize to fit your needs. But most of the time, it is fine to cut your gel liner if its to long for your stump.
Been using Ossur liners for 20 years, looking for new ones. Their "new" liners are garbage! Probably farmed out to CHINA for $1.98 and then charge us $3000.00 for them. They once lasted about 3 years, +. Now, I'm lucky to get 9 months out of that trash.
How many liner your prosthetist gives you at delivery depends on your insurance program. For more information about Ossur liners visit their website at www.ossur.com. Most prosthetic liners come with a warranty. I would visit with your prosthetic company about their policy and agreement with Ossur. And your physician or medical provider can write a prescription for new liners when needed. Again, whether or not your cost is cover determines your insurance policy. I hope this helps.
