      @Iambriangregory ปีที่แล้ว

      I like pop what I hate is people throwing around the word legend loosely ,in other words and that's what you just did ,A legend is a man that stands above others in accomplishments and as I said I like pop but the fact remains the players made the team on any team and when those players leave there goes the so-called legend it happened to Eric in Miami when LeBron left Phil Jackson always had super teams and so they pop so please keep your word legend in your throat and don't make it come out so easily it sounds ridiculous Just plain ridiculous. I was start using the word legend when you talk about someone like Bill Russell dominating for a decade as himself and everywhere he went he was a winner You cannot say that for the majority of coaches that have ever coached any sport anywhere so the stuff the word legend down your throat please when it comes to coaches it just sounds ridiculous and if I hurt your feelings that's because I told the truth

  • @nickirasgo
    @nickirasgo ปีที่แล้ว +221

    Maybe an unpopular opinion but last season was one of Pop's best coaching season regardless of the outcome of their standings and whichever position in the draft in terms of development perspective and adapting to modern coaching.
    He experimented a lot in using different lineup/players and it was actually fun to see him having fun and being less competitive since he knew Spurs is not a contending team last season. Hopefully it will be the same (Pop's coaching) this coming season and they won't rush.
    P.S.: Just to reiterate that losing isn't fun but this is justified esp. when Brian Wright designed the roster to lose naturally in order to have a higher chance to get a generational talent (Victor Wembanyama) which was approved by Pop, RC and probably the Holts.

      My dad, who's a huge NBA and Spurs fan, did mention these pass few seasons that he figured Pop was trying to prep the Spurs more since they are a really young team. Pop was always good at figuring things out. Heck, there's a reason why he's coached the National team for the Olympics multiple times (including the Tokyo games). Wouldn't be surprised if he coached them next summer in Paris.

    Coach Pop is such a treasure for this world. Even the haters have to respect him for who he is, what he says and what he accomplished. The Spurs are my second team for as long as I can remember. And that was before Timmy. I'm a Pistons fan since late eighties and that will never change. I was crushed when Detroit was revealed as the fifth pick in the most important draft of the decade at the very least. The lowest they could fall... In the end, I am happy with the outcome though. Detroit probably got some real talented basketball players in Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser. And The Spurs got the ultimate prize. San Antonio is definitely the best place for Victor to learn, grow and start his NBA career. Good luck for the kid, for you guys and for the Pistons fans everywhere 🙌

    I used to analyze prospects strictly as a draft fantasy league/hobby, but I did take it seriously and formulated a stat line emblematic of viable NBA candidates. Not rocket science but you do get a feel. This guy.. forget the stats and just look at what he does on the court and at his size and length. Then add terrific attitude and seems pretty competitive. That’s really the only question. Because he has literally all the tools to be an all time great and multi champion no question. Hopefully Pop, the staff, former vets like Timmy and management can get a team together to bring excellence to the Spurs franchise once again.

      Wrong what he needs what every team needs is at least one enforcer like Draymond like meta world Peace like Charles Oakley they better get with somebody on there fast and quick to protect him so that teams will keep their hands off of Victor If they don't he's going to be a fish out of water

    Guess I got spoiled and accustomed on how Tim Duncan conducted himself from Day 1 to lowkey retirement announcement.
    Sure, there's no socmed back then but I bet Timmy won't let it affect him.
    Days before the lottery, Tim received an "hello" from the Spurs but ignored them believing he'll become a Celtic.
    Lo and behold, San Antonio got the number one pick via their lone lottery ball.
    Pop went out of his way to visit St. Croix to visit and know Tim better and so his family, friends and environment he grown up. There's a welcoming ceremony in SA. Signed his rookie scale contract.
    Flirted with Orlando, and so close to leave (2000). One story says Tim's relationship with Pop weighed more. Another story suggests David Robinson cancelling his Hawaii trip so to talk to Tim was also a factor. Doc Rivers not allowing Tim's family to join him during the wooing period played a role as well.
    Winning the 2003 Title was critical. Should they lost that year, convincing JKidd to sign is a must. Otherwise, Tim might not sign the max extension.
    Thankfully, the Spurs clinched the franchise's second Title and Tim settled down and become a Spur for life.
    Tim was so confident in trusting the Spurs he no longer need his agent Lon Babby. Tim himself renegotiate and restructure his contract, in the process taking paycuts so to give the Spurs cap space to pursue quality free agents every offseason.
    _______________________________
    Will Wemby do these kinds of sacrifices?
    May the "Klaw fiasco" never happen again, while learned critical lessons on how to satisfy all camps so to keep Wemby and hopefully he's a loyal type, a very rare trait in today's NBA.
