  • Much of Daniel is well known but David Pawson explains the more difficult passages. Because the Bible is a divine book penned by human beings, the supernatural is involved. Amazingly, though the book spans 75 years of Daniel’s life, it covers 2400 years of history - including events of the distant future. Those who discount miracles can’t believe that Daniel accurately predicted events which took place centuries afterward. Approximately 200 details in chapter 11 came to pass. David points out that there is far less evidence that Julius Caesar invaded England in 55BC than that Jesus was resurrected, yet nobody questions Julius Caesar. There is a built-in reluctance to accept the supernatural dimension of scripture in many people. The first half of Daniel is all miracles and the second, prophecy. The first half is written about him and the second by him about the future. David explains the background of the time. Daniel’s character showed firstly in small issues such as diet, and would be tested in larger things as time went on. David says, Daniel was a man whose quality and integrity everybody recognized, a wonderful model and example for young men.

I made the 'mistake' of playing the whole playlist last night. A bit tired after 7 hours of preaching! But I have been changed. So grateful for such a knowledgeable and sound teacher. Thank you for making this available.

Its sad how many people are hard towards God and Jesus . I'm thinking especially of my family and friends . They just will not recognise that there is a God . As David says they would have to change fundamentally. I can understand , it took me 20 years to fully accept my salvation I was very stupid too . K

In some ways Daniel's experiences were similar to Joseph's. Being moral and faithful in the royal court and interpreting dreams.

Nice presentation, however I would like to find out more about the historical facts on which this analysis is based. I am primarily concerned about the reasons why the legs of iron would have been associated with Rome. Daniel says that those legs of iron crushed like iron, but my feeling is that this is highly unfair to Rome, an empire and a culture that is famous for building and for its tolerance of the subdued cultures, and not for their destruction. Instead of Rome imposing its lifestyle, language and religion on the subdued people, it let those people continue with their own life and traditions as before - and the New Testament is the best illustration of that. Besides, the Roman Empire did not stretch as far East as Babylon, so it does not really seem to be a replacement or continuation of Babylon. It is just maybe a different kingdom/state/religion/culture that the book speaks about, one that is currently located in and around the historical Babylon and that is busy destroying all pre-islamic history and artefacts...
