Thank you for the excellent video frate! For anyone else in my position, if your trailer brakes won't release then your quick release spring brake valve has failed which is built into these full function boxes. I had a haldex system and the bottom portion of it failed, in order to get moving out of the way to a shop all you have to do is untighten the adjustment bolt on your slack adjuster to depart the brake shoe from the drum slightly to release and you're free!
Thank you for making this video. Now I see clearly what went wrong with my trailer today. Mine started to go bad. It completely shut my brake pads to the drum and after a while it released them on its own so I moved a few miles and it shut them down again. I parked on the side of the road put it out of service ..
The same thing happened to me, I have smoke coming out. What I tried is the brake adjustment nut I keep on turning it anti clockwise, this helped me to separate brake pads from drum. I drove 700 miles doing this adjustment couple of times on my way.

I had issue with my trailer no air going to trailer air tank locked brakes on dock after done loading. I replaced Spring brake valve, problem solve hope this helps who ever reads comments also behind cab @ tractor protection valve blue valve was exhausting air cuz of this issue
Exact same thing happened to me yesterday after sliding tandems. I switched to a different trailer to see if it was the protective valve. It wasn’t it was ok. So all I did was took a hammer and hit the trailer spring valve a couple times and boom air came back right away. Released my brakes and no air coming from the protective valve.
If you have locked trailer brakes and air comes out of tractor protective valve. Try hitting trailers spring valve with a hammer fixed mines after sliding tandems.
Great video. I have an air ride trailer that empties most of the air through the glad hand when the air supply is released. Is this because of a stuck valve? Breaks work (service and parking), air bags inflate. The air just goes back to the front of the trailer and out my check valve on the back of my tractor and the park brakes don’t set immediately.
I'm working on a Transcraft stepdeck trailer. When you are travelling down the highway, say 55 mph, and pull the emergency hand valve on the tractor, it appears the brakes dont work on the trailer. However when i am in my lot, i pull forward to do a "tug test" it takes several seconds for the brakes to start to grab on the trailer to stop it. That doesnt seem normal to me. Its a 2005. The ABS brake valve is a Wabco 400 500 103, and is like almost 900 dollars.. i want to find out it is the problem before i spend that kind of money. Thanks for any help you can give!
I have a 2006 Transcraft DTL-3000 mines kinda do the same thing and also they take a while to release. My other problem is that when loaded the lift axle will not remain of the ground.
This helped man... just need the other side where the red supply lines go to..also what style air system is this cuz its difficult to find air diagrams
My issue is when parking brake is release I lose air in secondary tank. I can hear air leaking from the exhaust port and it changes tone when I move the arms on the brake chambers.
@hallbros305 it was the park brake relay valve. Which is on back order for months where I'm at. It's the air valve over the rear most pull axle. Mounted to the cross member. My fix was I traded the truck in on a brand new 2023 W900 with a 86" sleeper. Couldn't be happier with the repair.
Just to inform I've the same issue today morning, bought a new valve $231, replaced my self after turn on the truck, found the same issue again, turning on and off few times filled up air few times too, then the problem disappeared ,drove 4 hours ,guessing there's something more
I have 2019 wabash trailer. When I app brakes specifically with empty trailer brakes locks up at low speed. I have changed realy valve all 4 bracket chambers . All new drums shoes. And problem still there. I m slowing down well in advance to stop. Don't know what do please help
When I brake trailer shakes/bumps cuz it seems like only 2 tires brake harder even after adjusting could that be caused by bad valve or dust filled valve?
Any ideas why the front axle brakes( on a trailer ) would grab faster than the rear ones. I checked the service brake valve and it’s not leaking into any of the brake chambers. The brake shoes look good, applied stroke is good. If you see this, please reply. Mulțumesc
@@valeriumoscalu7580 the front applied brake stroke is at 1.5” and the rear 1.75. Ride height is 16”, that’s the spec for the suspension. I don’t know is what else to check. Disconnect the electrical cord and see if the ABS module has anything to do with it? The ABS light is not ON… Tires are not flat, no grease on the shoes/drums, no leaking wheel seal, no rollers that fell out of their place. S-cams? Mulțumesc pt ajutor! Drum bun să ai

Daca da, atunci trebuie sa dai drumul la surub inapoi! Atit timp cit e strins nu o sa ai parking brake la acea roata! If that 24 mm bolt is tightened it holds the spring and don't allow it put tenssion on the rod that is pushing the slack adjuster! So as long as it is tightened you will be without parking brake on that tire!

Salut. Cand apăs frâna se aprinde indicatorul de la ABS pe trailer si se aude un sunet exact asa cand face check la abs cand pui cheia in ON. Pina nu demult se aprindea Abs numai cand treceam peste vreo denivelare, dar nu tinea mult, 2 3 secunde si gata. Eri am trecut printr-o ploaie puternica si a inceput problema de mai sus. Valva exact ca in video, Bendix 5014015. Ce poate fi? Multumesc anticipat
Ai o conexiune electrica rea undeva! Verifica electric line dintre truck si trailer si vezi daca sta fixat bine la trailer si nu are free play! La fel verifica conectorul de la abs modul!
The abs wheel sensors for semitrailers are all the same diameter, the only difference is the wire length and there are 90 degree sensors and straight sensors! Your should be 90 degree and just make sure the wire is long enough to get from wheel hub to the abs module, if it's short you will need an wire extension!
hey I got the same problem with mine 2016 utility abs keeps coming on & jumps a lot when brakes applied I have k109325 now on the cant find same one but I see k109808 can I use the looks the same to me?

If you have locked trailer brakes and air comes out of tractor protective valve.
Try hitting trailers spring valve with a hammer fixed mines after sliding tandems.

Did you put enough lock tight?
Use thread sealer not lock tight. It will leak . The red color thread sealant from original manufacture looks like lock tight but it's not
I am always using lock tight and never had problems with air leaks!

Why thread locker instead of plumbers tape?
What happens when the air is coming out from the center of the valve, is the whole valve bad or not?
Me same question. Not maintaining brake pressure and air leaks from center hole when the trailer brakes are turned off

I replaced the brake chamber also , the spring was broken inside!

Is the trailer ABS working? The yellow abs light is off?

Whatever you guys do do not use a lock tight on your airline fittings you’ll never get them back off
Depends what kind, blue one is ok, red will be too strong!
I am using it all the time, and it's all good!
Lock tight is made to keep a bolt from backing off. Thread tape is made to keep a fitting from leaking

If it looks similar yes you can replace it with another one! Make sure have the same number of sensors, 2 or 4!
