    I know I know the Rebels continuation is what everyone is excited for but I get hyped every time I see Diana Lee Inosanto on screen. Morgan Elsbeth. She is martial arts royalty. Daughter of Dan Inosanto and goddaughter of Bruce Lee. She helped Rosario Dawson with her form for Ahsoka and I hope we can get her in another hand to hand combat scene. Some of the best social media clips are of her adopted son Michael O'Laskey II the former Red Power Ranger, as he runs around her house sneaking up on her and asking "Where Is Thrawn?!"

    Some of my knowledge about the new villains ;)
    An astute Reddit user, well-versed in Norse mythology, discovered a striking similarity between these new villains: their surnames are linked to mythological wolf brothers, descendants of the fearsome Fenrir. Sköll, one of these brothers, relentlessly pursues the Sun, symbolized by the goddess Sól riding her chariot across the sky, while Hati pursues the Moon, represented by the god Máni on a chariot. A chilling prophecy suggests that during Ragnarök, the mythical end of days, both Sköll and Hati will finally capture and consume the Sun and Moon.
    Baylan Skoll is inspired by a pair of villains from legends
    Jerec and the dark Jedi cult from the Dark Forces Jedi Knight game series - used orange lightsabers made of synthetic crystals. For example, Filoni took the Dark Troopers from this game series and used them in the Mandalorian series.
    Jorus C'Baoth from the original Star Wars sequel from the legendary book series Heir to the Empire Thrawn trilogy, where he has a similar appearance and connection with Thrawn.
    Huyang (a robot voiced by the legendary Doctor Who David Tennant) talks about Baylan escaping Order 66. I wonder why his sword hilt is so special.
    Otherwise, the planet with "Stonehenge" will be the place where the Purgyls are born and therefore this ring in its orbit. In my opinion, they will catch the whales that will get them along the star path and since I am returning to legends again, this can also have a strong impact on the timeline and so that we don't get the so-called SW multiverse that would lead to the Thrawn trilogy and not to Rey :D ;) but maybe not, we'll see.
    And I'm really looking forward to the final showdown and Anakin's involvement in this whole thing.

    With respect to Sabine’s midi-chlorian count… If Moff Gideon can give force sensitivity to a clone, it’s definitely not beyond Filoni’s imagination for Sabine to have it “awakened” or gifted to her.

    I realize Filoni wrote this episode, but I do not know how accurate it is to say that Ahsoka walked away from Anakin and she did not complete her training. Yes, she walked away from the Order, but I like to think by then she already learned everything she needed to learn from Anakin. Maybe I'm wrong and confusing different things, but did not Anakin even say at one point in The Clone Wars series that he had nothing more to teach her and/or he taught her everything he knows? Her walking away from the Jedi Order helped make her even more of a Jedi, just like you said. The Jedi Order lost its way and I would even argue walking away helped open her eyes to that even more to the downfall of the Order and what makes a real Jedi like in her experience with the Martez sisters. Anyway, there is the formal title of "Jedi" and then there is "Jedi" in the principle and training. Personally, on a side note, I would even consider Assaj Ventress a redeemed Jedi. She was trained by a Jedi and fought alongside her Jedi Master until he died. She was never formally given the title by the Order, but then again, neither was Luke. If anything, Luke walked away from his training, against the advice of Yoda, but I digress, LOL.
    2 minor complaints I would have about this show so far is 1. I do wish the dialogue would be more quick and more natural instead of having these long pauses in-between. 2. Something must have happened to Ahsoka after Star Wars Rebels to make her so much more stoic and somber. I had this same complaint about her appearance on The Manalorian too. Even after everything she went through in Clone Wars and Rebels, she still maintained this sort-of playfulness and quippiness in her responses, even while fighting. Yes, she got serious at times, but always seemed more cheerful before. She also was willing to always help and be a mentor, like always encouraging Kanan and Ezra, especially Ezra. So, her walking away from Sabine seems more like serious PTSD. If anything, her "failure"with Sabine makes much more sense on why she would not want to train Grogu than the actual reason she gave Mando.

    • @MarcusFrederiksen
      @MarcusFrederiksen ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahsoka would probably still put some blame on herself for leaving Anakin because of what happened later, I don't think that has been resolved... yet. In regards to her being stoic, we gotta remember the last time we saw her she had just found and confronted Anakin/Vader, giving her the final answers as to what happened to him. That's going to have to leave some scars and some trauma. Also, she's quite a bit older here than Rebels. Ahsoka is a very strong minded but she has been through some serious stuff in her life, and maybe it has caught up to her a little bit.

    • @smolsfamilyreactions
      @smolsfamilyreactions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @hanziggy6892 Thank you for your comments! I always enjoy your insights. There is definitely a personality difference in the way Rosario Dawson portrays her. And while I do agree that she is older, more mature, more battle hardened due to some of the traumatic experienced she has had(Vader/Anakin), I would still love to see some of that bright energetic Ahsoka vibe portrayed in this version of her.
      And I totally agree about the dialogue being slow. The pacing of the show is a little off. But other than that I love the production value and where the show is going. I'm sure we are in for some surprises!

    • @hanziggy6862
      @hanziggy6862 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarcusFrederiksen That's a good point. I actually cannot remember but was that actually the last time Ahsoka was with the Rebels is when she fought Vader? I mean, she did see Ezra in the World Between Worlds episode, but then she went back to that point in time. After that episode, I cannot remember if Ahsoka was ever seen again. But regardless, I would think if anything would've messed up Ahsoka mentally, it would've been everything she went through in Clone Wars. She went through heartbreak, almost being thrown into prison, seeing some of her BFF's (aka clone troopers) try to kill her and a bunch of other trauma. But, she still managed to keep this "joy" in her.
      Personally, I never liked the reason Ahsoka gave Mando for why she would not train Grogu. I would think Ahsoka, out of all people, would know that whole "no attachments" thing was a bunch of nonsense trash bologna. Ahsoka made a bunch of attachments along the way and it helped her become stronger and a better Jedi. It fueled her reasons to fight, but I digress. I do think she must have went through a lot of other more traumatic stuff after Rebels.

    @Smols Family Reactions,
    I agree with you that some scenes seemed to linger a bit too long--I wonder if this has to do with Dave's storyboarding background. Some scenes--Ahsoka solving the ancient puzzle, and the lightsaber duel--looked like they were made more for a comic book panel than something you'd see in typical live-action.
    What form of combat sacrifices defense over style? The constant posing after powerful blows was really bothering me. I hope we see less of that as the series progresses, but I worry this is going to be a recurring theme =/ I think it's important to see the actual actor as much as possible, but maybe it would have been better to use a more athletic stunt double to show urgency in her escape--I can't believe she outran that blast at the pace she was going. I hate to say it, but it reminded me a little of young Leia running away from her kidnappers. Some people can't run, and that's fine, but again why not use a body double for such scenes?
    While I'm happy to see a story without Skywalkers, if you're trying to prevent a war and you know a highly skilled Skywalker is still out there, why wouldn't you get them to help you early on? I hope this gets addressed sooner rather than later. Again, I like the idea of Skywalkers, for the most part staying out of this story, BUT if a Skywalker can minimize lives lost AND stop a war, well call a Skywalker!
    Those issues aside, visually this was the best Star Wars has ever looked on as a TV series. I hope they keep this up, and I'm curious to see where this goes story-wise.

      Supposedly this is taking place at the same time as Season 3 of The Mandalorian. While I hope Bo Katan gets a mention in a later episode, the rest of the Mandalorians are busy with their storyline. That said, someone on Reddit figured out the planets in the end credits and they think Mandalore is the third or fourth planet depicted on the map.

    Gotta say I was pretty impressed with the first two episodes. Solid 8/10. Not perfect, but quite good. The only things I didn't really like were 1: Baylan's hallway scene in the 1st episode. His 'saber work was too stiff and robotic, he looked like a poorly-animated videogame character or something. 2: Yet another lightsaber shanking which is then survivable. At least this time she's rushed to the hospital immediately, and it's depicted as a life-threatening injury that takes her a while to recover from, so it's passable. 3: Outside of the ceremony scene, Lothal feels deserted. While it's convenient for Sabine, she can commute to and from the city at 300 MPH (she really should wear a full-face helmet at those speeds), I have to wonder "Where the hell IS everybody?!"

    • @bryanfoster362

      @@bryanfoster362 I figured that's what they were going for, I just don't think it worked all that well. He holds each pose a little too long, for a moment it almost looks like the guards are actually shooting at the lightsaber instead of Baylan intercepting the bolts with it.

    A Rav4 in white looks a lot like a stormtrooper helmet from the front. The adjustments to make it look exactly like it probably wouldn't be that difficult. Anyway, it was a great first episode that makes me hopeful for the quality of the rest of the series. My only criticism is to wonder why they went with red letters for the scrolling at the beginning instead of the classic yellow block letters? Seems like an unnecessary departure from tradition.
