+Amanda Bolme Thank you for watching and the wonderful comments. should you need any help along the way please let me know. I try to get back within the day. Happy Tatting
your teaching way is very simple and interesting. Thank you for on line classes. I really like and will learn more from you. Thank you very much ma'am.
What I have found to work is to make a loop put the loop through the hole in the post then open the loop and pull the other end of the loop through the the hole and pull it taute. That way you just make a square knot with the tatting thread through the loop and wind the shuttle with the thread that way you get to use all the thread and you don't have to work the thread through the small hole in the shuttle all the time I have found using sz 20 thread is the best to use as it will accomodate sz 80 - sz 10 threads. It doesn't work for bobbin shuttles.
I'm not sure if I will enjoy this 🤔? I bought stuff including a boye shuttle from hobby lobby because it was on clearance sale. My daughter Rory died January 26 and I'm doing a lot to stay busy 😪! Before this I got Into dollhouses and do what I can to save money .I've started weaving and really enjoy it! Other projects as well but all are focused towards dollhouse miniature.
Thank you for this video. I learned some things about shuttles today that I didn't know. :) Like, I didn't know the outsides were called blades. Who knew! You did! . LOL A word about metal shuttles. I have one and the edges are so sharp that I cut myself using it so I don't use mine either, but I do like that it's a pretty metal one. I like metal. LOL
Hi Georgia - I am glad to find your channel! so excited to master tatting. I learned years ago and never mastered it and there were no youtube videos back then. Would you ever use a sewing machine to wind your bobbins? the clover pack I bought listed that as an option.
Hi Della. Georgia doesn't make the videos. I do. She has also retired and I am now running the classes. However GREAT news we have a new channel on TH-cam for the classes. All these videos are being transferred to the new class channel and we are also doing live feed classes in a private classroom on TH-cam. We would love to have you join us there. My name is Tamie Montgomery and I have 3 other teachers that will take a student from the very beginnings of tatting all the way through to being a teacher or designer. The classes are Free to those who want to learn. So I hope to see you there. Here is the link to get enrolled in the classes theonlinetattingclass@gmail.com and the new TH-cam channel is th-cam.com/users/TheOnlineTattingClass So come Join us. Happy Tatting!!!!
Which is the best ones ? What about the metal ones ? Boye ? Or even without the bobbin kinds ?! Are they just as easy !? What’s the difference in all of th year honestly
The best shuttle is the one _you_ like, and most tatters have their own preferences. Start with a shuttle you can get your hands on and that is within your budget. If you desire to try others, and have the chance, try them. Usually post-shuttles can carry more thread than bobbin shuttles. Some people hate the click of the post shuttles or find winding them tedious.
That is the nice thing about tatting whatever way to do the techniques that is best for you and still gives the results you want that is what you do. I just show the general techniques as they are written out. However if something you try and it works for you I say go for it. There is no tatting police to stop us. LOL. Happy Tatting
Yes it is to be wound counter clockwise on the shuttle for right handers left handers will wind clockwise in order to place the thread coming out of the shuttle in the right place. Happy Tatting
I have a tatting Tatting it's got a Bobben in it but the Bobben seems like there's nothing there for like tension it just kind of rolls I can take my finger and just roll it looks like there's no engine there and I bought two of them and they both do it how do I stop The Bobben from rolling up too thread I don't know what I am doing wrong
Hi Trina. What kind of bobbin shuttle do you have so I can tell you how to fix it. There are many brands of bobbin shuttles and each one has it's own fix to the problem.
Hi Trina. The Aerlit isn't made by handy hands they just sell them. The aerlit isn't a very good bobbin shuttle at all. the only fix for the bobbin being too lose is to cut a small sliver of a rubber band and fit it into the center hole of the bobbin itself. The aerlits are not designed to be used for very long. The clover bobbin shuttles sold by The Tatting corner are alot better. More expensive but better. Aerlits are considered throw away bobbin shuttles and that is why they are so cheap to buy. I hope you can use the rubber band trick on it other than that I don't have any other clue as to help you with that other than get a new shuttle. Sorry I couldn't help more. :)
That was difficult for me, too, Maureen. I started it over and tallied them. On this video, there were 18 minutes and in that time, there were 54 okays.
Thank you, I am a beginner. Your teaching style really is helpful and easy to understand. Thank you again. Stac

I like the shuttles made of natural things, wood, horn, bone, mother of pearl, they warm up to your body temperature as you tat. The metal ones don’t.
thank you so much for the information!!
I loved it

I've always preferred the thread leading out the front, not the back. I can control it better when working.

15,000 shuttles available....no but hundreds,easilylol
Wonderful content and excellent teaching. However it was difficult to listen to all the “Ok’s”. Don’t mean to be picky but it was very distracting.
I know Maureen. I do that to help me remember what I am saying. It annoys me too. LOL. Sorry for that. I will work on it. Happy Tatting
