Great tutorial. You do a good job of explaining what's going on and making every step clear. The only suggestion I would make is turn off the music. You don't need it, and it is monotonous to the point of being distracting.
Thanks man This video really helped me By the way is it possible to ease in and ease out the bone's movements at the same time? I tried to do that but I could apply only one of them for each movement
Thanks! For easing in/out between 2 keyframes, try selecting a frame between them, in Properties Panel use the TYPE drop-down in the Easing section and select "Stop and Start (Medium)" or choose fast/slow). The names of the easing presets can be not-so-obvious. There's a sample FLA if you go to File > New and scroll along the bottom of the thumbnails - there's a skeleton rigged with Bones that I made that has these eases. Just click inside the spans and look at the Properties Panel to see what eases I used.
Thank you very much I just want to ask if I have a bone toll inserted into the line and I decided to delete the bone toll but if I delete it totally deletes also the line that I added.
@@keyframer. I mean, once I added the bone tool in the line (that I made using the line tool) and I made the line to fill (from stroke to fill) [cause if you did not make the line {meaning stroke} in to fill it won't work in bone tool. < THERE IS SOMETHING ⚠ SAYS THAT " IK BONE CANNOT BE APPLIED TO STROKE"> so I make the line {meaning stroke} to fill to add it a bone or "armature" After that, I want to delete the armature in the line but once you delete the armature in the line the layer line will also be deleted. @@minute-ai Subbed. As for your Bone issue - after you are finished animating your "line" (shape) using bones - you can right-click over the tween span and select "Convert to keyframe animation" - that will convert the tween to keyframes, remove the armature and all of the bones.
great tutorial, really man, you are confident and knowledgeable on what you are talking about. so....I have a question. on my channel i do a lot of backing up trailers with a semi truck. What I am trying to do is do an animation where I drive a truck and trailer (top view). I'm pretty sure i use the bone tool to keep the trailer and truck connected. how do i make the trailer track the truck, remembering that the trailer does not go the same path as the truck.
Hi. Thank you. Glad you like it. I can picture what you are trying to animate. Give me a couple of days to find time to emulate what I think you are trying to do. Can you DM me through my website or facebook?
I have a question since i'm a total noob. If I wanted to change the root bone to something else, say if I added the rest of the skeleton body in. Is that possible or do all bones need redoing at that point?
Yes you can. Make sure the object you want to change the root bone to is already converted to a symbol. Next, select the existing root bone symbol on the stage. In properties, click the SWAP button, locate the symbol you want to change it to and click ok.
I'll be brutally honest, NO. Avoid the Bone tool for full character "rigs". They released this feature before it was truly ready and should only be used sparingly. That said, I avoid it like the plague. It locks you artwork into an armature layer, the root bone also get's locked into its original position unless you switch to the Free Transform tool. The Bones are buggy with issues when scaling and all of your symbols get pushed into a single layer. Bones won't work alongside Layer Parenting or the Asset Warp tool. I've moved on to Moho which has a vastly superior rigging system compared to Animate. Also, Adobe may be abandoning Animate in the long term.
@@GameofMask yes! Especially because you are a beginner! Learn Moho because I predict Animate won’t be around in a year or so. There was zero mention of Animate at Adobe Max in Miami last month. No more updates. Moho has amazing rigging tools and brushes! Check out their website. I’m in the process of co authoring a book on Moho!
(How appropriate that I would be like #666) Good tutorial. I decided to try to use the bone tool for some animations I'm making and this was concise and informative. Some questions, (that I'll be google searching answers to after I post this), would be things for more, "advanced" (?) animations? Adding lips syncing to your puppets or different instances of symbols.
My problem is needing to crop images into AA. I draw character piece by piece on the ipad, save as photoshop, open in animate and now every piece has a huge invisible square selection around it ill call it air since it contains nothing, how do you crop?
That's transparency. Bitmaps will always have a bounding box. No way around that. But depending on your images, you may want to simply use the Trace Bitmap feature in Animate to convert them to vectors. Ultimately the bounding box won't be a major problem if it's cropped to the artwork. If it's cropped to the width and height of the document, then it can cause un-needed file size issues and large areas of unused transparency that can cause memory problems.
@@keyframer. Ill give the vector thing a try, the transparency kind of links the wrong parts together I move a shoe then It moves the shoe and then the shirt for ex, even if I got the shoes, lower leg, and upper legs anchor points right, even when the bones only on the leg pieces.
Click on the 3 dots at bottom of toolbar - from there a side panel opens allowing you to drag and drop tools to and from your current toolbar. You'll find the Bone tool there :)
Great tutorial, but why do so many tutorials feel the need to add background music? It brings nothing to the party and just serves as a distraction. Still a really good video though and thanks so much x
Thanks for the feedback. I have posted videos with no sound (music nor voice over) and got many asking me why no sound. They all thought it was in error. So adding music seems to eliminate that but I do see you point about it being a distraction. Must find a happy medium :)
Yes. In the body symbol make a new body at the angle you want in frame 2. Use onion skin to see the body in frame 1 so it's aligned and positioned the same way so it aligns with the other bones on the parent timeline. Then control the instance of this symbol by setting it to Single Frame and then set the frame number for the body you want (frame 1 or 2).
