Never thought I'd ever say this after the sat night live rendition way , way back but ... best version I think I've ever heard. Absolutely breathtaking. They so own this song its ridiculous. They play it so well, with so many subtle alterations, and they are all fantastic.

Sweet Jane Sweet, Sweet Jane
I wish they'd do some Doors covers like "The Crystal Ship" and "Love Street." Until I heard this I didn't think Margo would be able to do the La-la-la's on "Love Street." She can. I also notice that Cowboy Junkies play in the best venues!!
Actually, I saw Reed and The Velvet Underground ( Niko was not there)... at the trauma in Philadelphia in 1968 .... it was a small venue with maybe 40 people.... And I love the Cowboy Junkies... especially the version of Sweet Jane :-) .... though....you must be high on drugs... if you think they sound better than Lou Reed The Velvet Underground !!! And your apology to Lou is apropos !!! I imagine he'll forgive you from heaven ;-) !!
@@Raymond-rr5iv I'm sure he will! From up above (or down under 😂), he must know that I love nearly everything he gave us through all the years! And...be sure...I am very envious for you for seeing VU life 😊 Wow! Sorry, for my lousy english... Greetings from Dortmund.
The world needs this group to release a version of this song every year. However, My suggestion would be to stop adam lavine from “playing” solo guitar. Still this band does the best performance of this song ever, excluding the adam lavine “distortion/atonal” solos. Jeez man… what song are you hearing ?… still awesome cover.
Still one of the best bands to see live on the planet!! Period!!
I just stumbled across this. I've been a fan since Trinity Sessions in the 80s. So glad to find this.
Never thought I'd ever say this after the sat night live rendition way , way back but ... best version I think I've ever heard. Absolutely breathtaking. They so own this song its ridiculous. They play it so well, with so many subtle alterations, and they are all fantastic.
…and quite a few NOT so subtle alterations. 3:14
Lou Reed said it was his favorite cover of his song and maybe better than his. Nah. But this is awesome.
i could listen to this on repeat indefinitely.

She's still singing it and it sounds more beautiful than ever. And he never came back home and I never found it.
This recording is six years old today, it's so good. Saw this band in 1990 in Northampton, England, and they were brilliant
That voice has seen everything.
Still incredible! Such talent in one family !❤ saw them live in Del Mar outstanding ❤
One of the best songs ever recorded.
Lou Reed said he liked it in the early 90' as far I can remember, i saw them in Antwerp Belgium at that time.
I've only recently discovered Cowboy Junkies and this crushingly beautiful version of Sweet Jane 🥲
Such a beautiful voice
Ó, Attila nagyon király! Szenzációs az énekesnő! Ez a stílus előadás , ez jön be.Undorodom az enyelgéstől! Óriási!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super!
Drummer keeps the beat like Charlie Watts, not overbearing but plays a huge part in the song.
Holding together like a stone heavy n low along thee lines a bass sweet behold, then in comes the man on the stick, oh what the voice of Sweet woman Adds
👍
Une œuvre d’art!!!
Awesome version
Holy shit is this version so good!!! Great production on these vids.

Giving me tears ...

Fantastisch!
Underplayed in both playing and pure sexyness
so good
HANDS DOWN BEST VERSION OF ALL FUCKING TIMES....
Sweet 😮😊😅
Lou Reed would approve.
Story is "...Lou Reed himself reportedly said [the Cowboy Junkie cover] improved on the original. " so that's cool.
Great.
Stunning place and performance. That must have been a great gig?
That solo was uncalled for.
& she plays w/Steve Martin.. ..rock was
heavy I was under!
I must agree. Stood out like a turd in a punchbowl.
@@rgdaddy22903
I've actually turded in a punchbowl.
I drank bottled beer the rest of the night.
Oh yea…..bring it on!
Awesome
Nagyon jó!

Great version. Margo looking and sounding extremely sultry.
Dream in Bangkok “ Sweet Jane “ 💕Thanks for All my cute Thai girl...

Should be 40 minutes long...😊
Never get tired listening to it and, I must admit, better than the Velvet Underground. Sorry Lou! 😊

I agree it's too short and an amazing cover but no one does it better than Lou Reed. Loved the Lone Justice version too👍

Where is this? The lake outside is frozen, snow covered.........
Blackstrap lake Sask…Trick of the light…water not snow
3:48 I thought it was a snowy plane than a boat appeared.

Classic Margot mic. cradle.
man, hate to say it, they outshine the original wrapper, and i love the animal.
Holy shyte where did this come from
The mid 1980's in Canada.
Hatalmas!
Natural born killers best ost ever
Morceau de fou
Musiciens aussi
Voix de dingue, ça fait hérissé le poil encule FABULEUX
Is it my imagination or does Margo sound more like Lou Reed then usual?
Yes it's your imagination ;-) !!!
She doesn't sound at all like Lou Reed !!!
Get a grip man !!!
What location was this gig?
It was a lodge located on Blackstrap Lake 30 minutes from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
This is good, but I like the version she did on the Johnny Carson show. And they could have skipped the guitar solo, that ruined the song.
Guitar solos pretty much ruin every song. Nobody gives a shit but the trippers.
@@lukebjorge1085 Not to mention it was shitty solo at that.
:-)
rather strange guitar solo....too heavy...to much distortion....in my opinion....
I thought it had no taste also. Amateur capabilities.
It was just right 😊👌
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 It was crap, and jarring.
I feel like I'm watching my mother sing a song by someone who is not my mother and doesn't care what the subject is. BTW, my, mother is 93.
so much better than lou reeds version
