Are these Samsung portable SSD drives available in Samsung stores? Also, I'm surprised how affordable these portable SSDs from Samsung are. I thought the 1TB to cost around $500 and the 2TB cost around $600. Clearly I was wrong, I didn't expect it cost around $120 for the 1TB and around $260 for 2TB. I think I'll go for the 2TB variant.
I have to get 1 of these. There are 2 Huge albums on My Samsung Note 8 that for some reason will not open on my Laptop for me to backup... Question, Will I be able to Copy or Move Photos from This Samsung Drive to my Seagate Drive? That would be great & save me a lot of Time from Backing up manually like I've been doing. Hopefully this will work for My New Note 20 Ultra as well.
When disconnecting the SSD T7 from phone you need to go into my files and eject external storage correctly, just like you would any normal micro sd card. Pulling out the USB cable from phone the way Saki did in this video will put your phone/SSD at risk of being damaged which is why Saki got that pop up notification on his phone telling him to restart his phone the moment he unsafely pulled out the USB type C from phone.
I wonder if that is why the coomputer now says can't find any data on my phone after removing the sd card? I got the message to restart me device an put th sd card into my tablet since I have to turn my s20 FE in as exchange for new s21. Should I remove it correctly from my tablet and reinstall in the phone as a do over? Just learned how to download to an external hard drive but did it on a laptop where the files wee selected. This looks so much easier and faster!
This is a timely video for me. I've been thinking about this exact problem for the past week and this is a consideration but a final solution definitely requires more thought. Managing photo/video data efficiently and effectively has become quite the challenge
Saki, I have the 500 T7 and it does not plug and play into my samsung s20. When I connect the hard drive to a computer, it will light up and I can access it and I followed the setup process but went back to the phone and nothing. No blue light, no notifications, nothing, it's not reading...please help

I remember over a decade ago having to regularly back up my phones to an external storage device. Due to the advances in SD card technology, incidentally Samsung played a significant part in these advances, we could back up to a high capacity memory card conveniently located inside the phone. Now after over 10 years we are back to this ! Progress or regress ?
I think its because u can't backup and restore from an sd card in the phone since there's stuff on the internal, not to mention u can't put sd cards in phones nowadays so it makes sense.
I was just watching he intro thinking the same thing. I chose my S10+ because of the expandable memory and 3.5mm jack as the deciding features. I am hoping to enjoy it through the plague and maybe longer.
I agree. I was excited to get my S20 FE last year with expandable storage and most of the features of the more expensive phones. Now the "upgrade" is a smaller device with less storage and no sd slot. (And no charger to boot.) I like the flexibility of having an sd card, and can have multiple even, for storing different things. I just bought an external hard drive to download everything since there isnt enough space on the new device, and would be looking at paying for the cloud forever, or have multiple accounts to split up the files to save for free. I have avoided iphones for the very reason of no expandable storage. I don't want to be forced to upload everything to the cloud or be stuck without space. 😕
I tried to ask if they can bring back the microSD expansion to the phone but the people are critizing about the "Huh? Bring back the old-technology to the phone? Are u kiddin'" and I'm not happy with it.
Regression, in my opinion. One of the selling points for me when buying a phone was the expandable memory. Since it appears the Note 22, I mean, the S 22 Ultra won't have that I'm considering not upgrading but sticking with my Note 9.
This video is great. I already had a T7 500 gb and was about to buy an OTG adapter since I thought I needed it. I found this video and followed your excellent direction and downloaded everything on my Note 10 phone(34GB) in about 5 minutes. You are right it is fast! And you saved me money! No OTG adapter needed. You're the best thank you very much!
Same here, I was thinking an adapter might be needed but the Samsung version shouldn't need it. How was the speed? I just ordered mine, have about 50 gb of photos and video I need to transfer from my galaxy s10
Saki you're brilliant again ! So helpful. I've ordered my T7 plus a custom carrying case you can get too to store cable and stuff ! I will be ready after backups for my new S22 Ultra yay !!
very helpfull video, however something that wasn't obvious in the video was that if you want to back up to a computer you need to install the smart switch software for your windows or mac machine, wish I knew this before spending 30 minutes wondering why my phone wasn't detecting my PC as a USB storage device :)
Yes this is one important thing for people to do is to always make sure you got back up, regardless of what it is, because you never know when you're going to need that back up.
This is one of the best and fastest methods of transferring between old/new device, but for everyday use, I use Syncthing between my phone and PC. Once configured properly, it's a serious time saver and everything happens in the background without user actions.
@sakitech, Thank you for another great and informative video! Question for you: Does this device have password protection? Also, I noticed that you were able to plug and play with the laptop/computer without having to enter a password. This feature is critical because no one wants to have the possibility of the external hard drive falling into the wrong hands.
There are several ways you can transfer an SD to a hard drive. The easiest may be through a PC. Or go to 5 Below has a USB C to a common USB allowing the hard drive to connect to the phone.
Hi Saki, how can I back up my pictures from the Secure Folder? Do I have to move the items out of the secure folder to the gallery and then back up the pictures? I hope not Thank you!
Not sure thats even possible. I though i backed up my phone with the samsung cloud before sending my phone to service but come to find that samsung cloud doesnt backup the gallery, notes, or secure folder or even app data from third party apps. The only thing it does do is save your home screen layout, apps youve downloaded excluding the data within those, and sms messages... like what even is the point with this then. If it's the first time you are backing up the Note 10 on a previously used Hard Drive is there any risk that your existing data on fhe hard drive could be lost with this method? i.e. formatting corrupts accessibility of existing data on drive.

Hi, i love this video, but I have a question about saving all of my wallpapers and themes, of which most I've gotten from your recommendations. Almost all of my Wallpapers and themes can be used over most of the newest phones, but I noticed that didn't happen when I qent from Note9 to Note10+. Can I use this to backup photos and images from the SD card not just the phones harddrive
They no longer had that function under accounts and backup, now they want you to download smart switch to do the backup...Is it going to be similar, with each incremental backups?
once I backup to ssd can I plug ssd to computer and view saved info? Thank you
So if I already have a external hard drive, can I just buy a USB c to usb female to put my pictures on the hard drive I already have??
Interesting thanks
If you make a back up every week, wouldn't that duplicate files in the external hard drive?
That's why you delete the older backup. You can see a full list of your backups in the interface I showed you.
Am not sure whether the cable provided would fit an A10 galaxy phone. That's not made clear in the video.

Hi, i love this video, but I have a question about saving all of my wallpapers and themes, of which most I've gotten from your recommendations. I know I'm going to get an S22 Ultra, which is going to be almost exactly as my Note 10+. Almost all of my Wallpapers and themes can be used over most of the newest phones, but I noticed that didn't happen when I qent from Note9 to Note10+. Why didn't this happen back then, and how can I prevent it now????
Did you transfer using samsung switch? I transfer from samsung to samsung and it saved my wall papers along with all my phone settings. Everything transferred over seamlessly.
@@msjones3792 no, I transfered everything but atm, I can't remember what I did, because it was in the middle of a Best Buy store, when bought my Note10+. I knoq a cable was definitely involved, tho. Lol! I highly appreciate that idea and will do it immediately, when I buy the S22UNote
@@beverlydixon3187 kool, you don't need the cable with Samsung switch. I was happy it saved all my settings bec it took me hours to customize my phone. I love Samsung switch. Let me know how the s22 ulta is when u get it. I'm still in love with my note 10 plus.
Can backup more than phone or tablet and phone?
Can this be used to back up from phones other than Samsung? I currently have the S20 but don't know if my next phone will be a Samsung. Thanks
im not 100% sure but on most phones i think itll be possible, propably not your apps and home screen but your pics and videos for sure
Hi please could you send me link to purchase the lion Wall paper.
@WhatsApp ➕➀➈➆➁➃➈➂⓪➃➈➂ hi Saki is this real? Want to be sure.
100% fake.
Or simply just go back to giving the customer what he wants, rather than what suits, ie micro sd expansion
Phone can get lost and all videos photos etc are lost.
I back up everything even though I have a motor sd. I also back up my contacts.
Thanks 🙏 😊
U R Awesome😊
If anyone could help. If you sync your files and photos to Onedrive on S24 Ultra, if you were then to backup the phone with smart switch, do you backup the files and photos too even if they are already synced? Thank you.
Any external ssd whether we can do it
Hey can anyone tell what is the format of ssd i need to format my ssd to make android read for backup ?
Will that drive only work on a Samsung phone? I was thinking of getting one for my Pixel 6 Pro

This doesnt work if you already have a sd card inserted....
