Yep but for a big ass sum of money. WWE were asking her to do the shit with out the additional financial boost. Let's not forget that there were other listed reasons, which hav been corroborated by other female wrestlers of the time
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of wrestlers got and are still getting slipped "the goods" against their will in order to, say, force a reason to fire some that the promotions don't particularly like.
This is a truly bizarre list. On one hand, scandals like the steroid scandal and subsequent trial and the sex scandal are all on there, the Owen Hart death was never mentioned and the Benoit murder/suicide was mentioned in passing while discussing a different scandal. The "bullying" is questionable on its face, but to say it "rocked" the WWF is quite the embellishment considering only a fraction of fans have even heard any of the stories associated with the alleged issue and never resulted in anything more than a nuisance lawsuit. The Hogan tape was laughable at best. It brought no problems to the WWF other than a serious over-reaction by the company and a couple of headlines. It was quickly forgotten about outside of those in the wrestling bubble. The Owen Hart death on then other hand occurred at the peak of the company's popularity, and thus resulted in a ton of negative press for the WWF and cost the company $18 mil. + from the settlement and associated legal fees. The Benoit situation is the only other scandal besides the steroid trial that threatened the very survival of the company. I'm at a loss to understand how something silly like the bullying allegations or the Matt Hardy mess could be seen as bigger occurrences than prominent deaths that not only occurred on the WWF's watch, but literally "rocked" them to their core.
@@nathanthom8176 That would be fine if they made that clear in the video. They didn't, so either your theory was not their intent or it was their intent and they completely neglected to communicate as much. Either way, Owen Hart's death was the direct result of WWF direction while the Benoit death was directly responsible for a series of scandals the company faced in rapid succession, including the circumstances surrounding the situation itself.
Calm down, it was a speculation and the video says scandal, and I don't know about you, but I see a scandal as something that could have potentially been hidden or swept under the rug. Neither Owen Hart's death or Chris Benoit's actions were scandals as they were very open tragedies.
@@nathanthom8176 I'm perfectly calm. I took your comment as speculation, but it seems my response was taken with a much angrier tone than it was given. I disagree with your assertion that tragedy and scandal have to be two completely separate things. Scandal has resulted from tragedy many times in history. Chris Benoit's steroid use and the impudence of WWE's drug policy came to light as a direct result of the Benoit tragedy. Owen's death resulted in the poor decision by the WWF to continue the show as well as the WWF allegedly forcing Owen into that situation as retaliation for Owen refusing a creative direction he wasn't comfortable portraying. Scandals result from tragedy all the time. With tragedy, some of those things that had previously been "swept under the rug" are able to be brought to light.
@@kennym.4664 I didn't say they were exclusive but they are separate. Chris Benoit's action are a tragedy, nothing more. I'd there a potential scandal around medical professionals, drug use etc, sure but if you just say Chris Benoit then then everyone is going to be talking about the murder suicide (you mention the Benoit situation led to other scandals, which would be thier own thing). In regards to Owen Hart's death, outside of unproven conspiracy theories there is no scandal. I personally find the way that WWE and Vince treated Owen's wife and family following his death scandalous but it wouldn't be considered a scandal and most don't even mention it. A scandal pretty much needs anger and/or outrage and the only thing the Benoit and Owen Hart situations resulted in was sadness, and any of the surroundings of said events barely caused a murmer (so no scandal).

Few auto racing specific ones...and the XFL for good measure First one's just a rumor and I don't remember if it's fact or not, but when monster truck racing was big in the 90s, there were rumors WWE wanted in to stick it to WCW who were big into sponsoring trucks at the time. WWF as it was then, then in the early 2000s, went into NHRA drag racing, showing up in the Funny Car class and underwhelming massively. 2000, NHRA. Funny Car. yeah that was the era of JFR turning up and strolling into the final rounds. Need to go rewatch the 2000 season but I'm fairly sure the team didn't get much TV time because they were so average. Oh and they got into the offficial NHRA videogame too at the time, because why the hell not... The XFL. THe /original/ XFOL. Do I need to explain why this was a scandal for the WWE? Okay this one's not super auto racing speciific. I figued I'd just toss it in because easy target There was, around the late 80s/early 90s during the ring boy scandal, some confusion with sportscaster Pat Patterson who called events for (I think it was?) SETN and the WE Pat Patterson over which one was involved/who was who. Pat (the sportscaster) can be heard on multiple late 80s cable sports telecasts Dwayne Johnson wanted to use his 'The Rock' persona to help or start up a race team, I forget which. WWE were not impressed. Side note. Guess who bought up what's left of the rebooted XFL? Yeah. Dwayne
Dwayne was going to enter NASCAR with Hermie Sadler as the co-owner and driver in the early-2000s. Team was going to be called “Rock Racing” and they were going to purchase the assets of Joe Bessey’s Power Team. Story goes that the WWF legal team found out and refused to allow Dwayne to use his character name/image/likeness in any way shape or form without the WWF also being part of the team.
The people that hate Hogan are the same people that love Dynamite Thug for brutally beating his wife on a regular basis, including holding a shotgun to her head. Bret Hart idolizes this thug for his treatment of women.
@@filmbuff2777 no one idolized the Dynamite Kid. Those that know him may respect his wrestling ability (as is the case with Chris Benoit) but if know of him they don't idolise him at all. @@rtsharlotte No you don't. Do you think if someone sued the federal government, for example, they'd cut all ties from them?
And if that person proves to you they've changed you'd never take the money?
And what if that person just gives you hush money and you know it?
@@AngelusNielsonI think that the person you're responding to meant that most people shouldn't go back to a company if they allege that the CEO of that company sexually harassed them, because if you go back to the company where you allege that something bad happened very little explanation, people are going to fill in the gaps and believe that you were just lying with the original lawsuit, obviously we wouldn't cut ties with the federal government, it's entirely impossible to do that without leaving the country, aside from your bonkers come back however, it would make all the sense in the world for sable to have cut ties with Vince McMahon after the lawsuit, because most women who have any self-respect who were harassed by a person would not willingly go back to work for that person, something like I said that Gives room for people to doubt the sincerity of their original lawsuit, and more importantly, it puts the CEO in a position to just do the same thing again,
What about Owen Hart being a human sacrifice?
1:32 I'm assuming when you said "a man" you actually meant "the man (WWE's doctor)"....Would that be a fair assumption?
EDIT: I am both correct AND an effing moron lol! 🤣 I rewatched that part and I now realized that the WWE's doctor's last name IS "AMANN"! 🤯🤯🤣
Here before WWE launches a copyright strike...
How did the Benoit tragedy not get its own entry on this list? It got lumped in with the Orlando pharmacy scandal.
Same with Owen Hart. At least Benoit was mentioned. While the Edge/Lita/Matt Hardy crap was bad, it wasn't as bad as Owen or Benoit.
Maybe because it wasn't a scandal, it was a tragedy. To me a scandal implies that there was a chance of keeping it secret and out of the press Murder homicide and dying on a live show kind of skip the scandal state.
Sable: I don't want to expose my breasts..
Also Sable: Ok I'll do Playboy....

lol glad to know yall had been on Vince’s payroll, you follow the company guidelines phenomenally! obviously the ring boy scandal involved Pat Patterson but we can pretend that didn’t happen right!
Boy…Edge really was “Taking Care” of Lita on the road 🥴

I'm surprised this list wasn't made earlier
I'm surprised they managed to narrow the list down to 10.
Sable.....bombshell? Ehh
I miss the old days a wrestling especially the attitude era owen hart fail off the rope ended his life i remember when he passed a great wrestler gone but not forgotten amen vince mcmahon sure be in jail for his role having someone or somebody killed or having relationship with females wrestlers sexual harrasment his victims.
Didn’t sable pose for playboy?
Yep but for a big ass sum of money. WWE were asking her to do the shit with out the additional financial boost. Let's not forget that there were other listed reasons, which hav been corroborated by other female wrestlers of the time
Sable should have never gotten anything.
So what we can take away from this is that they try and settle out of court if they can.
Double Standard by WWE for allow Vince saying N Word to 100 Million People
Matt Hardy was iiLegally fired while injured.
Maybe they are separating scandals from actual tragedy's.

Few auto racing specific ones...and the XFL for good measure
First one's just a rumor and I don't remember if it's fact or not, but when monster truck racing was big in the 90s, there were rumors WWE wanted in to stick it to WCW who were big into sponsoring trucks at the time.
I figued I'd just toss it in because easy target
There was, around the late 80s/early 90s during the ring boy scandal, some confusion with sportscaster Pat Patterson who called events for (I think it was?) SETN and the WE Pat Patterson over which one was involved/who was who. Pat (the sportscaster) can be heard on multiple late 80s cable sports telecasts
Dwayne Johnson wanted to use his 'The Rock' persona to help or start up a race team, I forget which.
Omg Hogan said something racist..who cares people really need to move on and stop getting butt hurt by non important things grow up
The people that hate Hogan are the same people that love Dynamite Thug for brutally beating his wife on a regular basis, including holding a shotgun to her head. Bret Hart idolizes this thug for his treatment of women.
@@filmbuff2777 no one idolized the Dynamite Kid. Those that know him may respect his wrestling ability (as is the case with Chris Benoit) but if know of him they don't idolise him at all. The things they did were monstrous but Chris Benoit was not of sound mind with him being diagnosed with CTE and I feel that Dynamite Kid probably had it as well seeing as both liked to do flying headbutts from the top rope.
Again, what they did was terrible beyond belief but comparing a mentally ill individuals action in a tragedy to a minor scandal is kind of disengenous.
@@nathanthom8176 I’m surprised that they never examined Dynamite Kid’s Brain after he passed. You’d think his would be a good choice to study on because of the whole Benoit thing where Benoit took inspiration from him, the biggest being the diving headbutt.
@@Deathpool_04 I think the Dynamite Kid was always a bit of a dick and if he had CTE it was probably enhancing an already pretty toxic personality.
@@nathanthom8176 I know he was said to be an asshole but Id still like to know how badly beaten his brain was. I do wonder if it was the CTE that either changed his personality or just enhanced how awful he was. Similar thing with Benoit, he was said to be a “good and honorable” man but you have to wonder if CTE(along with the other stuff he was dealing with) had changed him or if he was always hiding that awful side to him. Then there’s the question on how long those two had CTE(if dynamite did have it).
Owen and Benoît?

I'm going to be fair here, everyone says something or does something that we intend to stay behind closed doors but because Hulk Hogan has that tape leak everyone goes after him.
No, not everyone is a racist behind closed doors. The ethics of the leak notwithstanding, Hogan held/holds some shitty views on black people.
