      Yeah, especially since it took almost 40 years to bring charges and there was no trial or conviction.
      Things need to be proven before they can be viewed as fact.
      I have no opinion about guilt or innocence. It's not my job. That's why it's always best to defer, to those who have evidence and the skills, to make decisions.
      Thank you.

      Not just without the Internet, but without general social media to spread the fire all over. And not just Vince, either. As a video game fan, I consider the crap going on with Activision as the turning point when it came to trust of companies, though other companies, VG or not, also had their own scandals exposed around then. The Activision employees actually UNIONIZED and the company was federally investigated. I think people started to realize "the nerds might be right".

    I always figured he didn't know much at first and found out a couple of hours later. If you can find video of the tribute show, you'll notice how in the first couple of hours, the commentators repeatedly talk about what a great person Benoit was and laud what a great family man he was. Then in the third hour, you start hearing them only talking about what a good worker he was. Nothing about him having been a great person.

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not sure when they learned what had happened with Benoit but it’s been pretty well established they didn’t learn of the full extent of what had occurred until later on. People should always keep in mind they didn’t even discover that they’d all died until 4:14 PM and their show went on at 7. The details definitely weren’t fully known for a period of time if it’s simply kept in mind that it was less than three hours prior to the show starting that it wss even discovered people had died much less the specifics being released.

    • @RobQuincyAdams
      @RobQuincyAdams 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Matt-cr4vv That's true. I do remember they did know for sure by around midnight that night because it was being reported on the various wrestling news sites that it was a probable murder-suicide. Figuring how long it takes for the sources to come through, that's why I always figured it was somewhere around the third hour of the show when they started to find out.

    The amount of promoters he bought on then just stopped paying once he'd taken over is crazy too... Also threatening to take Wrestlemainia away from any companies that ran Jim Crockett's PPVs, it led to Turner buying WCW and the next few years under Jim Herd (just abysmal wrestling booking) and finally to the Attitude era, I'd love to see how Crockett would have fared in that period.

    A good friend of mine who was a very handsome All-State high school champion at several sports want with me once to go see the local matches in 1982 for Central States Wrestling while Terry Garvin was there as ring announcer. Terry come over to talk with us (I was a weekly regular) and offered to train my friend and give him a job in Central States paying $30,000 a year. First time he'd meet him! Garvin got his phone number and would call him every week for months to see if he wanted the job or to just go with him on the road for a bit to see if he would like to be a pro wrestler.
    My dad warned me to tell my friend he thought that Terry might be trying to get with him and not to trust him.
    Dad, you were a smart man.

    • @elc1960
      @elc1960 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your dad was indeed wise. I truly believe Jimmy Garvin could tell you a lot of stories about Terry. In the '70s he was manager of the Garvin brothers tag team with Terry and Ronnie Garvin, and I bet he has all sorts of disgusting stories about Terry, some likely even far worse than the ones about the ring boys.

    The video was pretty entertaining. I have a hard time hearing and reading about scandals though - if someone has money, they will get away with what they did; this makes their scandal’s pointless. We live in a fucked up world, and I hate acknowledging it by seeing what people get away with.

    Amazing how long it's been, since this seminal event in Wrestling history BUT
    Historians will explain, that it was not the first time something like this had happened in Quebec!!
    Dubbed the Original SCREWJOB and ignoring Wendy Richter, getting screwed after WM1.
    You should be able to get info from Eric Leprade's book and the internet. I read the book 15 years ago but I think it was called 'Mad dogs, Midgets and Screwjobs' it's a great read for any wrestling historian!
    Cheers from Montreal Canada

    In my country (Perú) there was a president in power for all the 90's that did some good thing (because it was his fucking job anyway) but there were more bad things he did and tell his most trustfully people to do, that he is finally in "jail" (in quotation because you know the kind of prison time the corrupt and powerful people really have) he has blood and money in his hands but there are people that keep saying stupid things like "thanks to him, we have ingernet now", "he ended terrorism" and shit like that but just because he used to "buy" tv channels, newspapers and famous people in the showbiz to talk good about him in those times... For me it's the same, i don't care about his childhood, don't care how hard he got his life to be, no matter how many good things he "did" for wrestling, he is still a piece of shit to me, so i hope he never comes back (but i suppose people are gona cheer for him anyways) and let this be a true change in wwe bookings and the way they treat their workers
