One of the most underrated songs of any genre. This is my favorite John Mellencamp tune ... and he has a lot of good ones! It's one of the few he's done that doesn't have that distinctive "American heartland" vibe to it ... but it's definitely an American classic.

Mr. Happy Go Lucky is one of the most underrated albums of all time. It is John Mellencamp's magnum opus, his creshendo, his crowning achievement. You really have to listen to the album from beginning to end to understand (at least to some degree) the message he was attempting to convey, and he did that with absolute success, even if no one knows it.
This is a special song for me the love of my love said this to me many years ago so I played it tonight on the anniversary of when he died. I'm crying because I miss him but this song gave me a smile to fond memories of him ❤
