Cop Mike is the best Mike Co-host by far lol... I'd love to see him stay for a run of the Lethal Weapon series after this Die Hard series is done!
The original script was called Simon Says, where a cop must follow clues and Riddles in order to stop a mad bomber in New York. This would later be a basis for DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE.
True and the original script was going to be a lethal weapon sequel but eventually it was used for 12 rounds with John Cena.

The most rewatchable movie ever
This is my favorite of the series. I watched it a lot on HBO. Jeremy Irons and the puzzles were the best parts of the movie.
I love forgetting how to do the 5 gallon jug part and figuring it out again

My favorite of the franchise. Jackson and Willis have such great chemistry
I've always considered Die Hard 3 the best out of the whole series, the reason is because it was my first Die Hard film that I have seen when I was a kid.
In the chemistry between Sam Jackson and Bruce Willis was definitely the highlight of this film not to mention Jeremy Irons playing as the villain really sold me on how good this film was.
What really helps make this movie work is that John McClane has a "buddy" in it (Sam Jackson).
Theyre kind of like the scenes in Pulp Fiction with Vincent and Jules.
It makes it more fun than just talking to himself or someone else on a walkie talkie all the time.
I know for a fact I saw this on TV and the sign read “I hate myself.” It was really funny with Jackson going “How are you gonna come to my neighborhood and say you hate yourself.” Very empowering.

Awesome to see Cop Mike again! The plot to steal the gold is like Goldfinger the book, while the plot to destroy it is like Goldfinger the movie. There's even an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball, The Slip, that parodies the bad guy.
Die Hards 1 2 and 3 are my three favorite Die Hard movies.
I always loved Die Hard 3. Such a great way to escalate from the previous two entries without going as crazy as part 4 did. John McTiernan is just amazing at directing action.
Die Hard is objectively the best of the series but Die Hard 3 has always been my favorite.
If Bonnie Bedelia was the voice of Holly on the phone, she wasn't credited or even listed as uncredited. Another fun fact is she is a Culkin. She is the sister of Macaulay's father.
Walter is not the name of the bomb technician. His name was Charley. Remember when he does the demonstration in the police station that blows the chair off the ground Connie says " charlie you're gonna wearing that chair up your ass". Also when he brings in the case and slams it on the desk Walter says " should you slam it around like that charlie"? Charlie responds and says " it's unmixed, you can't hurt it". Walter is the first name of McClane's boss inspector cobb- Walter cobb.

Samuel L. Jackson is just awesome in Diehard 3. I loved it when they ditched that tiny car and he realized he left the gold bar in the backseat. lol. Cracks me up every time. Thanks T-Bone!

Die Hard created an action sub genre of a lone man stuck in a dangerous situation, Die Hard 3 I think started the “we are everywhere” style of villains that had surveillance over the hero and was always one step ahead.
Love it when Targo is beating down on John and he said he is the energizer bunny and Targo said "WHERE ARE YOU GOING BUNNY?" 😂
The scene where the cop stops Samuel L Jackson from using the phone is referenced in The Incredibles.
You should do 'The Rock' with Prison Mike and Cop Mike..
Elevator gunfight...it's short but goddam it's one of the best, most brutal I've ever seen! I saw this on the big screen opening weekend and the whole audience was just howling with nervous laughter! This movie was one of the all-time great theatergoing experiences.
Die hard with a vengeance’s acting was so natural and its over the topness was still grounded. The tension with the riddles was neat. The objective of the bad guys unveiled slowly throughout the film. Leaving the audience and the protagonists guessing. The backstory with Grubber family was also a cool throwback.
Officer Mike may have low-key said the funniest joke ever. Talking about the N-word sign. In a deadpan voice, Mike says, "That didn't age well."
I think it aged like fine wine. It was absurd and offensive then, and it's absurd and offensive now.
Die Hard started this kind of action film and Die Hard woth A Vengeance took it to another level.
The first movie I watched in english, again and again. Jesus was awesome in this movie, I mean Zeus, sorry.

Definitely a tie between this and the first for me. Hope we get some more Bruce Willis action films down the line. Would love to see you review The Last Boy Scout...one of his more underrated films I feel but it's so damn good!
The reason you may have been thinking of Halle Berry in passenger 57 was because she was in executive decision. Kind of similar movies both set on planes.

Love this movie, first one I saw on HBO a trillion times. It always bothered me John called the ambulance a line backer, and not a full back.

You forgot to mention the scene with the cop at the pay phone is parodied in the Incredibles with a cop who looks like that and Frozone played by Samuel l Jackson reaches for a drink instead of the phone but similar dialogue
" As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives." The riddle doesn't say the man and his wives aren't also going to St. Ives, so the answer could have been everyone.
Yep the narrator could have overtaken them. Also we don't where this is in relation to St Ives. There may be many places or directions the man's party are going to.

Handsome Mike is really chill, i mean Prison Mike is too, but more in a "stab ya on the yard" kinda way.
When I used to play basketball, I’d always have a ball with me. Even when nowhere near a hoop. Plenty of ball handling / fundamentals can be exercised without actually shooting.
It sucks that Bruce Willis is unable to function like a normal person these days. I was in the middle of thinking about writing the final Die Hard movie - "Die Hard or Die Trying". Now I might as well just stop thinking about writing it.

Here is something neat Bruce Willis a couple years before this was a cameo in a Samuel L Jackson comedy 93 Loaded Weapon 1 then in 94 pulp fiction together and 95 Die Hard With a Vengeance
It shocks me that people rarely acknowledge the fact that Simon basically cucks Targo. Katya was introduced in the briefing as his significant other and that her neck scar was due to a bomb having been planted in their bed. You see her sitting next to Targo when the three are in the cab of the dump truck and she subtly gives Simon the side eye. Targo later emphasizes that Simon betrayed THEM when he shows her the piece of scrap.
I think in the script/novelisation Zeus had a brother who was killed by a cop (which is why he was taking care of his nephews). There's still a deleted scene online that mentions this: Zeus used to be a drugaddict and when his brother came to get him out of a crackhouse he got killed. Wich explains his antagonistic attitude towards McClane/cops more.
And I believe Jonathan Hensleigh also did uncredited writing on both The Rock and Con Air. Con Air even has some references to Die Hard 3: the bomb in Jon Malkovich cell is the same type of liquid-bomb and it repeats the visual gag of the the guy that got cut in half being dragged of with Danny Trejo's character.
I struggle to call this one my favorite because of the first film. This is absolutely great though! Shoutout handsome Mike!

Can't wait for Passenger 57. That's one of my favorite movies, and so is this. Regarding John suddenly being an alcoholic, I wonder if someone took a page from The Last Boy Scout. I agree with Tony. Simon is awesome. Those riddles, especially the one about The Man From St. Ives. I do like Live Free, Die Hard. Timothy Olyphant is also a great villain. Can't wait for The Fugitive either. "Get off my plane!". Oops, sorry. Wrong movie.

This is my favorite Die Hard movie and one of my favourite movies if I'm honest. I fully accept the first one is better technically but this one is just so much fun, and the casting is on par with the original. I totally believe Jeremy Irons as Hans Grubers brother. And he has one of the best lines in movie villain history:
"I'm a soldier, not a monster. Even though I sometimes work for monsters."
This move also confirms Sam Jackson has always been a middle aged man.
Man, I just realized I probably havent seen this one since #4 came out! I still remember it fondly though. As for #4….the best part was talking about Rutgers since I was going there at the time. 😂

My favorite thing about this movie was the characters. They don’t spoon feed you who everyone is. To me it felt like there was a John mcclane tv show between the movies and these characters were all a part of the featured cast. Even the switchboard lady felt like maybe she was a recurring character.
Yo the part with the tape and the gun - the shot you played shows Zeus ripping the tape off of both the gun and back, and after it's off he lifts the gun. You guys are just going off memory I guess, no way you could've missed that if you just saw it unless you weren't paying attention... Love ya Tony, thanks for making my Friday nights awesome! Well of course it's the best sequel, look at the competition... Saw this at a rather early age (pre-school), so it was my introduction to Samuel Jackson, Jeremy Irons and a lot of things about NYC (this movie really makes it feel like you're there, at least before the last 30mins or so). The whole hangover thing is a cliché from the times when troubled drinking was considered manly, as opposed to pathetic, but it still works for the movie. Like Tony mentions, this was not originally written as a Die Hard movie, and that shows. However, was the 2nd movie really also written as something else? I mean, that is as much of a basic "same thing, different place" sequel as possible.
Tony Halme, a Finnish celebrity/boxer/politician, who was briefly in the WWF as "Ludvig Borga," plays a henchman in this film. Seems that every time he's talked about the filming, it was about his disgust regarding how a black guy was treated like a star on the set (but he didn't refer to him as a "black guy," he always used slurs when referring to blacks). When he became a member of the parliament, his politics basically boiled down to "no more immigrants."
The younger daughter from Family Matters wound up.doing some "adult films".

This was the first Die Hard movie I ever saw in theaters with my best friend and his dad, a 10pm showing which was the first time for me to watch a movie that late lol I was only about 13 on a busy Friday night we were lucky to find seats right up front, kinda felt like watching on IMAX today,, I'll never forget that night what a Kickass movie, the theater reaction was the best part, great movie

I vote we rename the show Mike The Movies, and hand over lead host responsibility to Mike, furthermore he should be deemed famous and important.
