when I was a kid in NEW YORK CITY WHERE I WAS BORN, my first pigeon coop was a big refrigerator box! and it worked fine until it took on its first rainfall. so you are doing very good with your nice pigeon coop. oh yeahhhh
Another terrific video. You keep producing first-rate videos that keep me watching til the end. Like you, I have hawk problems here, plus, I just discovered, owl problems. I quit letting my whites fly because of the losses. One problem I’m having is that when I let my birds out, they seem to think the flight to the roof of their dwelling is the goal. Rarely do they fly as far as my home roof, about fifty feet away. Any suggestions?

I think they did okay last year. Yea it’s hard to find good white racing bloodlines, but so far I like mines. Except for the fact that they get spotted easily by falcons/hawks 😔

Mate the loft doesnt matter.. my family raced out of two 10foot sheds for decedes an did very well here in Australia its all about your birds an there blood lines.. home to them is home they dont know any different
I think I mentioned it last year but , if your birds are well looked after, good enough and happy, they'll race to a cardboard box . Loft style is irrelevant. All it needs to be is dry , u don't even need to clean them out . Ps , giving the stock birds room ( even if its out of breeding season ) is a must. Keeping them constantly locked in breeding cages will lower fitness which in turn will lower condition which in return will reduce the quality of their young . Fitness + health = good breeding as well as racing....

But remember what I said last year ( feeding wins races ) what you give them how much and what type , carbs/ fats / proteins for the race, distance , wind etc leading up to races can make or break ya loft and birds. Keep an eye on long range forecasts so you can adjust your feeding leading up to the race... I'm routing for ya . I remember being in your position in the 70's 😄
I've found a pigeon today and I believe that the pigeon has been trained, as it has bands on both legs. Just colored bands, no identification marks on the bands. It arrived in my garden today and stayed all day, it's currently in a cage for tonight. Can someone point me to an organization for pigeons in my area. My location is in the Los Angeles area.
Thanks for reaching out! Hmm… it will be hard to tell if the bird doesn’t have any identification band on its leg. My guess is to just take good care of it and if you think the bird is feeling a lot better then you can set it free! 😊
