I guess I have a different definition of flakes... 🤷🏾♀️ But if you break the cast on a strong setting gel, you will see dust. You will. So when you pulled the hair and banded it, fluffing, picking, etc... that breaks the cast which is why that's when you see the dust.
I love the bee girl custard. I've never used it with the foam, but I have such great results with the custard alone that I don't see the need to add anything underneath it. If I add anything under the custard is the conditioner that comes from the bee girl line because its a 3in1 or the pattern detangling nectar.
Your hair looks great and it did turn out good. I got the custard a few weeks ago and got compliments the first try. Just picked up the mouse. Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for your videos! They’re great. And are you a Carolina girl?
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support💕💕I’m glad the custard worked well for you☺️I’m sure you’ll love the mousse as well. Yes I am a Carolina girl🥰
I tried this same combo and got the dusty snowing as well. I changed to the Crazy Sexy Curl mousse under Ecoslay Jello Shot and WHOOOOOO HOOOOOO! MAGIC!!!! ❤️
Hey Katrina I think instead of flakes it probably was dusting from breaking the cast when you separated your hair. That happens to me all the time if I use a strong hold gel. So I just charged it to the game as long as my hair looks bomb and I don’t have actual snow in my hair. Also where did you get that bonnet I like the way it fits & it’s not too tight? You got excellent results in my opinion 💜💜
Thank you!💕Yes I definitely think that is the case with the flakes. Yes I agree, the results will have you like, bump those flakes😄I got the bonnet from glowbydaye. It has a drawstring, so I don’t have it too tight and it stays on all night.
Wowwwww I Love this combo , your curls look amazing 😍😍 these products are definitely on my list to purchase. Each day your hair was looking better n better 😊 TFS ✨✨✨
Thank you for doing this one. I have both products. I am having a hard time as well with this combo. I am going to try the custard first and then the mousse. Please let me know if you have tried it this way.
You’re welcome! 💕Yes there is definitely a learning curve with the custard. I feel I get the best results when my hair is soaking wet. I have not tried this combo as of yet.
Beautiful results 🙌🏾💕👍🏾 I haven’t tried a WNG foam and a custard combo and i’m curious what made you decide to apply the custard on top of the foam and not vice vesra ? 😊
Thank you!!🥰💕I thought that was the order that the CEO used on Instagram, but it was actually the other way around. I feel like the custard would have given a stronger hold by adding it last because of the cast I got the first time I used the custard.
Hey there! I haven't used the custard yet, but I love the setting foam. I've only used it by itself though. I was so disappointed to see the flakes. "Snow-ing" as you said. LOL I never saw the flakes on camera though. And you're right -- your hair was beautiful! I'm glad it got better as the days went on.
Love your definition. I have the custard but I do not have that specific foam. I have the Doux Mousse Def so I will try that combination to see how it works
@@ljones7618 it’s just something that I don’t really do in my wash and go routine, but it’s definitely a good way to break the cast. I prefer to stretch my hair with the scrunchies and break the cast all at one time💕
@@KarolinaCurlzWorld got it! That makes loads of sense. Well, your hair looks lovely and healthy, thanks for taking the time to test and inform! Blessings. .
Hey Katrina. I love, love, love your results. I just wish it hadn’t flaked on you. The camera didn’t catch that, though. All I saw was a bomb a$$ wash and go👍🥰.
Maya made multiple videos saying to not break the cast. This product's gel cast broke due to banding. This isn't considered flaking. Flaking is when two products do not mix get applied to the hair. This is evident when you try to mix them before application. Breaking the cast is basically destroying your set.
So what would you call the tiny pieces floating in the air? I am aware of the mix test and I prefer to band my hair to break the cast because I don’t like my wash and gos to look shrunken and stiff. I prefer them fluffed and elongated especially when I have places to go.
@@KarolinaCurlzWorld The flaking is due to banding the hair. The cast is going to continue to break until you wash your hair. Before you banded your hair, you had a lot of elongation. Shrinkage is considered healthy for curls. I can understand you do not want stiff hair, but you will need to choose a different combo or adjust your product to water ratio. The only way to achieve the elongation you are looking for is to alter your curl pattern, which is what banding is doing. I'm assuming you want it fluffy because you want to create volume. It's really difficult to get volume and elongation because your hair needs to be flat to get elongation. You need more density, shrinkage or frizz to get volume. If you have low density, fine strands and silky surface texture, this becomes impossible because these hair characteristic will always lay flat. To make the most out of that is a hair cut to give the illusion of fullness and a different product combo.
Before I banded my hair I did not have a lot of elongation. My hair shrunk during the drying phase and yes I am aware that shrinkage means that your hair is healthy. However, I do not like for my wash and gos to remain in the shrunken stage, which is why I band my hair to give me the stretch that I desire as well as breaking the cast. The elongation that I am looking for comes after I band my hair. If you look at my day 1 results, that is the look that I prefer as well as how my hair looked on the other days which gave the volume. It is not difficult to get volume and elongation because if you look at the results on days 1-3, I achieved that. I guess that I will continue to get flakes, which comes from the products used and water to product ratio, because I will not stop banding my hair to get rid of the flatness, shrinkage and cast. Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@KarolinaCurlzWorld I think this is coming down to preference and perception. In comparison to your hair being wet and after it had been set, the shrinkage isn't unreasonable. I understand everyone has their own preferences. When I think of volume, this set doesn't show volume. It's more elongated than voluminous. You can adjust the ratios if you prefer to do so, however, Maya has mentioned in multiple videos that breaking the cast is not advised because that cast is what keeps that set in tact. Breaking the cast causes flakes. This is a user error not a product issue.

That makes perfect sense especially since the flakes did not continue. Yes the banding does break my cast. I like banding vs using an oil.

You probably need to clarify your hair to ensure any previous buildup from other products are removed so that the custard can work properly.
I used the no scrubs exfoliating shampoo, which removed the product buildup.

It's beautiful but the flaking comes from using too much of the custard. A little goes a long ways with the Bee girl custard...not much at all
Thank you! I’ve tried dialing it back, but I still get flakes. I’ll keep playing around with it😌
Everyone keeps reporting dryness with that custard. Never knew a custard could dry out hair.
I agree because the custards I’ve used before have been moisturizing. Maybe they call it a custard because of the consistency, but I’m not sure.
That definition is popping too bad at flaked 😔
It sure was popping!😏
I don’t think that your styling process fits well with these products.
I’m not sure what it could be.
