one of the most helpful reviews! This should be a blueprint for hair reviews. I've tried both and the Big Poppa is a product I keep on hand, I have a similar hair texture and I normally pair it with the Mousse Def and break any cast with my Curl Smith bonding oil
I've tried them both. Big Poppa doesn't last as long and gets dull after two days. The custard last twice as long and stays shiny with no flakes. I apply on soaking wet hair in the shower.
You're the first person I've seen get flakes. Maybe apply it to wetter hair...use a little less product...see if it makes a difference. The definition on both sides was good.
I just watched Hazel goddesses video & she got flakes on the bee girl side too. And now that I’ve watched more videos lots of people get flakes with the bee girl and custards in general.
I generally don't like to do wash n go's because of the crunch and stiffness...then after a few days, I feel like my hair loses curl definition....but I started watching another hair blogger and love how the Big Poppa looked on her wash n go so I decided to do a wash n go on my hair using the Big Poppa styling gel and I liked it!!! I had NO CAST, my hair felt moisturized, and great curl definition , my daughter even complimented my hair and she is very critical...lol, HOWEVER, the next day.. there was frizz and my curl definition was gone... But I will definitely try it again, and I may even try the mousse too. BTW, I agreed with you, the Big Poppa side of your hair was nice compared to the Bee girl! I really enjoyed your video and I am now a new subbie!😊
Yes I definitely think that playing around with different products and combos is a great idea to learn what your hair likes and doesn’t like. Yes Big Poppa is definitely a great gel. I paired it with the custard in a different video and the results were so good. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I really appreciate you💕
I love both and there are definitely times to use each one. If I want to push my wash day and extra week I’ll use bee girl because the hold(crunch/cast) allows me to do that because it lasts longer. Big poppa I use weekly if I’m not worried about prolonging a style!
Thank you for sharing your review with these specific items. This is the second review I've watched, and you are both getting the same results with the Bee Girl flaking.
Thank you for watching🥰Yes there is definitely a learning curve to this product. I have found that for my hair, it has to be soaking wet. That’s why I apply it while I’m in the shower. It really is a good product😊💕
I used Bee Girl for the first time last week and got flakes after day 3. It was still shiny and had great definition, I used on damp hair (how I normally style) and it was CRUNCHY! Now I love a crunch, but this cast didn’t break all week. Day 6 was still crunchy. I tried it again today, wetter hair and less product. Hoping that stops the flakes and helps the cast break. I really like it. I can’t use any stylers with glycerin, so was happy I found this. Big poppa had me a frizzy damp sticky mess on day 3. I love the mousse def for a defined but very light fluffy wash n go, but i know I have to wash and reset by day 3 with the mousse.
I ran out and bought the Bee Girl yesterday. So glad I watched your video before trying it. I'll try not to be heavy handed, lol, we'll see how that goes 😏 The big poppa side def has the volume and looks like more clumped curls while the Bee Girl has more definition and I'm guessing over time, zero frizz. Like you said, depends on the look you're going for. Btw, I love the flowers on your wall in the back. Where'd you get them?
Let me know if you get flakes when you try it. I’m curious if anyone who tried it got flakes. Thank you! I got the flowers from Hobby Lobby and spray painted them with spray paint. For the purple part, I used the same paint that’s on my wall.
Your hair looked great with both products. I love the branding of The Doux and Maya (the creator of the brand) is dope! I’ve tried several of the products and haven’t had good success with any of them. I really want the mousse def to work for me, it looked ok on day 1 then the next day is was major frizz and dry, same with Big Poppa. Maybe doing something wrong but I followed the directions so idk. 😔.
I definitely feel like it’s a learning curve when using some of these products. Maybe you need an extra layer of moisture with the mousse. I would suggest trying different techniques.💕
I have all the Doux products and I love all except the leave in I never have flakes with any product I use it has something to do with how much product you add I like how both sides came out but the Beegirl gives longevity
Yes that’s what I was thinking it was the amount of product but didn’t think I used a lot of it. I agree about the longevity as well. I’m not going to give up on Bee Girl just yet😄💕
Both sides look good. I think the bee girl will last longer. I like a stronger hold so it will last through work outs and humidity. I want to try both gels.
I tried Bee Girl. It curled ok and it did bring down the volume, but it did not shine. There was minimal cast and some frizz. Maybe I didn’t add enough.
You may need to use more product and/or more water to get the right ratio. I had to learn that for myself. For me, it works best if my hair is soaking wet.
My hair was sopping wet when I started putting it on, so definitely not more water and I didn’t want to put any more product because you said it was crunchy and you might’ve put too much and I put very little and it’s still came out super crunchy
I love your curls even before either product was added however I agree that the Big Poppa side looks better. It is shiny and fluffy. You can see a white cast with the Bee Girl.
On YOU, I liked the Big Poppa side better. I have tried Big Poppa and the hold for me just didn't work. My hair was very hydrated, but the hold was too soft foar my liking and for my environment. I purchased Bee Girl, but haven't used it yet. I plan on washing hair tomorrow and setting my curls in shower with Uncle Funky's Daughter as a base gel and to trap in moisture and then Bee Girl as a topper. I hope it works out. 🤞🏽 I also wanna try it alone as well. But I thinking using UFD first will help me not use too much of the Bee Girl.
Thank you!💕 Yes I agree Big Poppa gives a really soft hold. I hope that combo works out for you 🤞🏾I tried Bee Girl a second time and sat under a hooded blow dryer and it still flaked😏
@@KarolinaCurlzWorld Well, I just used it by itself in the shower. I don't have a strong hold at all and I know why... water. So it's definitely an application issue. I would encourage you to keep trying it out under different circumstances. I know I'm going to. I. Getting the feeling that this might work like mousse or Ecoslay on my hair. I can NOT have too much water when I use mousse and I have to apply outside of the shower as a topper or I might even use a mousse as a base. But it's definitely all about the application.
I LOVE big poppa but the slip leaves much to be desired on my course patch of hair. The best slip I ever got was mousse def with uncle funky, but unfortunately I dont like how it makes my hair look(ramen noodles). Big poppa gives me beautiful natural coils. Does Bee girl have more slip than big poppa?
I would say Bee Girl does have more slip because it is a looser consistency, but you would need to make sure your sections are detangled before applying
Just started my natural journey (4/24) & Big Poppa was the first jell I used based on a recommendation from a stylist & my biggest concern at first was it it going flake, but to my surprise it did not, because of that I have decided to stay married to Big Poppa until I’m confident enough to branch out to another…for now it’s BP all the way!!
I really love big poppa. I bought bee girl recently to try because I heard the frizz control was better and I can definitely see that here. I'm ready to try thanks for the video! Edit that's funny you mention happycurl happygirl because that's who I actually saw too.
Awww thank you for subscribing! It’s much appreciated 🥰I hope the Bee Girl works for you. I liked it but just hate that it flaked. I’m going to try it again and try to use less of it.

This is probably the best comparison that I've seen between these two stylers. Thanks for showing us real life results!!!!
Thank you so much🥰I’m glad you enjoyed it💕

Using a hooded dryer or diffusser has made a big difference for me. Especially with gels and mousses.
I recently got one and I can say I definitely agree with you.

Hey mousse def works great as a styler for twists outs or braid outs that kind. I don't find it holding well for wash and go
You really helped me decide what to try. Thank!
You are very welcome!!💕💕
🥰 GOOD JOB DOING YOUR BEAUTIFUL 💖 LOVE IT

Your hair is beautiful, team big poppa❤️
Do you use specific products for hair growth?
Thank you so much🥰💕
I did for a few months this year. I’m working on a video to give details☺️
How many days did this style last?
I got a good three days out of big poppa and a good 4 days of bee girl.💕
I agree with you. The Big Poppa side is better. I’ve got to try it. Thanks for sharing 👍🏽😊
Yes definitely! It is very affordable and you get a good bit of product! Thank you for watching ☺️💕
Thank you for this
You’re welcome 🥰💕
Thanks for this video !!
You’re welcome!☺️💕
Def prefer Big poppa based on this. The color of your hair looked so much better with it too!
Thank you 🥰💕
I just ordered BeeGirl from Walmart I too love Big Poppa. Can’t wait to try it when it comes in. New subscriber here 😘✨
Awww thank you for subscribing! It’s much appreciated 🥰I hope the Bee Girl works for you. I liked it but just hate that it flaked. I’m going to try it again and try to use less of it.
I wonder how these two work together
That would definitely be worth a try!💕
Happy girl happy curl did also have flakes
I got flakes with bee girl, going to try big poppa
I’m glad it’s not just me and hope big poppa works well for you🤞🏾
I did as well.
Bee girl didn't flake on my hair however it made my hair extremely hard so I had to mix it with mousse! Big poppa was too sticky on my hair and a lil itchy! I prefer the Bee girl! Everyone hair is different!!
Oh that’s an interesting combination to use it with mousse. Yes you’re right…everyone’s hair is different💕
I tried the Bee Girl. The bee girl hold s your hair much firmer. I had some crunch but no flakes. Next time I will use less custard on my hair. I have fine hair and if you have fine hair you should use less product.
Also to get that crunch out of there I had to spray water on my hair to kind of loosen up the crunchiness on my hair. Still no flakes.
Yes I used less product and applied while in the shower the second time I used and still got flakes. It’s definitely a learning curve using this product.
That’s good! I’m glad you have mastered how to use the Bee Girl💕
Big Poppa for the win🥰
😄agree!!💕
I definitely am with you, I like the big poppa side better😁👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you!☺️💕
Breaking the bast on this product is a challenge...I had to apply oil...almost daily to get it soft. Yes, the def. was there.
Yes definitely a learning curve with this😏💕
Your hair looks good do you band your hair every night.
Thank you!💕no just the first night so can eliminate some of the shrinkage.
I haven’t tried either but Big Poppa definitely looked better
Thank you!💕
Big Poppa for you for sure!
I agree!😄
Big Poppa is my favorite and it does your hair very well!! Big Poppa for the win!!
@@bridgithawkins7668 😄thank you!💕
For short hair i would use Bee . Longer hair looks better with Big Poppa.
Can we see Miele mousse and uncle flunky daughter curly magic
try bee girl again but use less and update us!
I will see what I can do😊
You are going to have flakes and stiffness with a product that going to give us definition.
I wish I had seen this video before I bought the Bee Girl custard😢!
😩I hope it works for you!🤞🏾🥰
Big poppa has a weird smell. I'm trying the honey curl now
I hope that it works well for you💕
