- I may have got a little bit too excited with this re-release. This Re-release is not associated with Jerry Cantrell and is not a Jerry cantrell model. My apologies for the misunderstanding - it was likely more wishful thinking.
Hi, I am Chris. I am a guitar nut and I want to share my guitar journey with you all.

Hi! Shea from G&L here! great video. i just want to clarify that the new guitar we have released is a completely new model with 24 frets and a Floyd Rose and not a Jerry Cantrell reissue. :) hope that helps for any watchers with questions
Hi Shea, thanks for checking the video out and for the clarification. I will amend the title and thumbnail as I don't want it to be misleading, my apologies. Would you prefer me to remove this video to mitigate any further confusion re Jerry Cantrell.
@@chasingtone2022 Much appreciated! Keep up the great work!
@@chasingtone2022 no need to remove the video! A lot of great content here. The title change would be fine enough.
@@Shea19no problem Shea, I have changed the title. Thanks again, Chris.
Hey Shea, HUUUGE JC fan here - I'm also curious why the move from Khaler to Floyd? I'm glad you guys didn't cheap out with a Floyd 1000 and went OFR but the Khaler on the old one is just so unique. I'm sure most of the Cantrell purists out there wouldn't have minded a bit more price tag to get something like a 7300 Khaler option.
I think it’s important to note this new Rampage has no association with Jerry Cantrell.
I love G&L and I'm a big Jerry Cantrell fan... I've played GL's since the 1990's and currently own 11 of them. That being said, I am NOT a fan of this new version of the Rampage. I think the 24 frets look really weird on this model. If G&L was going to offer 24 frets then IMO, they should have done it on the Invader model (the Jackson Soloist version). I think having a Floyd instead of the Kahler that everyone identifies with this guitar with, or even the G&L dual fulcrum tremolo is also an odd choice. These are my personal opinions YMMV, but as someone I believe would be their target consumer, I'll be passing. IMO, if they want to appeal to new players, then maybe do a baritone version or a 7 string.
I have an original Rampage from 1985, and it's awesome! Got it back in the early 2000s at a vintage guitar store for $450. I have to say I prefer the Kahler trem, and will always be a part of the Rampage to me... Floyds just don't look "right" on this guitar. Jerry also said in an interview that he preferred the Kahler cause he puts pressure on the trem with his picking hand, and the Kahler doesn't change pitch when you do that, where as a floating trem is more susceptible to that. Also, when you bend a string on a Floyd, it affects the pitch of the other strings until the trem goes back to neutral, where as the Kahler doesn't have this issue.
Jerry is my main inspiration both for songwriting and riffing! ❤❤❤
I was checking out some of your songs earlier. Cool stuff man!
I had TWO of these back in 2010/11. Both white and black. They were VERY well built and played amazing. Very articulate, hot pickups. I hope they do these new reissues justice, because the last I saw, the 2010s ones were fetching like 3x their value.
EDIT: No Kahler....No thank you
Wow, that is amazing, you are very lucky!! I hope they do them justice aswell - I am sure they will be fine guitars. I see theres a Jerry Cantrell Rampage model on eBay for 27k - crazy. I think the no Kahler issue is going to be problematic for a lot of folks.
Exciting!! I want one 😍
HiJo. How are you doing? Thanks for checking out the video. I am totally with you - although I think they will go like hot cakes but exciting none the less :)
@@chasingtone2022 I’m great thanks! Funnily enough I’ve just made a video about signature guitars, although I didn’t know about this one coming out but I haven’t finished editing yet so I might try to get it in somehow…and put a link to this in the description of course!
@@JojoFryrocks I am glad to hear you are great. It looks like your channel is really picking up, how cool is that. It sounds like a great idea if you could try and add this one to the video and a link to my video would be very much appreciated. I will look forward to your vid.
Bring back Jerry’s Superhawk next!!
In my opinion i think the new Rampage has just become like all the other Floyd Rose superstrats . They shouldn't have changed anything just released one with Cantrell's specs, this ones a hard pass for me.
Yeah, I was amped until I saw no Kahler. No thanks. The Kahler on the 2010s models were sooooo damn smooth
Current Kahler is a very small operation. I doubt they could supply enough units for this run
Good point but G&L is also a very small operation that I suspect will not end up making a ton of these.
If they use Jerry's name to sell the new Rampages, they better not leave out that Jerry himself said he prefers the Kahler over the Floyd Rose.
For me, Kramer is already the king of 80s-style Floyd Rose superstrats, so a Floyd Rose Rampage is pointless.
The other guitarist in my band has one of these signed by the entire band (AIC)
Wow, one of the news ones or the old ones? That's is so cool!!
@@chasingtone2022obviously old. Layne can't sign a new one
do you know when it's available in Europe?
Hi, I cannot see a realise date anywhere yet.
Not for 2K.
A USA G&L Rampage for $2300-2500, and no hard case?? When I learned they were re-issuing the Rampage I thought I'd stretch to get one, but with the changes they made to it I guess I'll pass.
Pricey for what it is.😵
