Debo and her sisters have fascinated me since I was in grade school (I was kinda nerdy). I have always been fascinated by the aristocracy in the UK too. There’s a great video on TH-cam called “Debutantes” about the debutante season of 1939. Debo and Andrew were one of the couples that were interviewed. It was a really cute show and was a nice departure from 2020 ❤️.
I love Derbyshire it's a beautiful county. Chatsworth is a national treasure.we have visited numerous times and never tire of it..please do come and visit.you definitely won't be disappointed.
I completely enjoyed my recent visit to Chatsworth, which I was inspired after seeing the film titled "The Duchess" with Kiera Knightly. The film was based on one of the occupants of the house, Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, who was the great-great-great-grand-aunt of Diana, Princess of Wales. I loved walking the grounds, especially seeing the cascade water fountain that was gravity fed by a pond on top of the hill.
OF ALL BRITAIN 'S GRAND OL' PILES ... CHATSWORTH WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVOURITE. IT IS & WAS INHABITED BY AN INTERESTING HISTORY & THE FAMILY THAT HAS MADE IT SO ... CR
Can't believe he is the son of Andrew and Debo. They were so almost modern back then in 1938. Andrew and his cousins were so kinda rebel like. He sounds so posh now, but his dad and his mates/ cousins drove friggen cars like they were immortal, cos that is how kids thought, even 70 years ago. Must remember like they do, Andrew and Debo only became Duke and Duchess of Devonshire because older brother Billy died in WW2. Therefore Deb Mitford became Duchess of Devonshire rather then Kick Kennedy who would have taken that title if Billy, heir of Duke of Devonshire had not died. Having said that, Andrew and Debo deserve it. They done well and have looked after Chatsworth
I think he looks more like Jessica Mitford than either of his parents. Andrew and Debo deserve most of the credit for saving Chatsworth from falling to ruin. Her books are wonderful.
The Duke is very distinguished but that awful American puff interviewing him spoils the authenticity of the house with his screamingly vulgar camp American twang questions
nice place.........ive visited with a sister........we got shouted at for feeling (gently) the fabric on the curtains and tie-backs as we stood inline to see the rooms LOL........the curtains arent original fabric.........and if they dont want folk touching then move the area for queuing well away from the windows and curtain area......i wouldnt visit again as prices were steep for 4 adults to see a couple of rooms.
geoffdundee Not original, but still very expensive. I know it doesn't seem much to touch them, but just imagine if everyone did. The fabric would start to wear out very quickly. When we opened our house we were told by friends who already had that nearly everyone touches things. It's human nature.
I apologise on their behalf (staff) for shouting at you. If your remember their name. I would see that they are dealt with. Thank your for visiting my ancestral home.
No, Deborah Mitford did not support Adolph Hitler. That was his Aunt Diana. Debo loved her sister and brother-in-law but she did not share their pro-Nazi views.
This place is a masterpiece. His mother Deb was an amazing lady. What a life she led!

I loved the fact she was always followed by her chickens and the Duke was frequently mistaken for the gardner. Such a sumptuous place.
Definitely on my bucket list. I want with all my heart and soul to visit England and Chatsworth is on my list!!
chrissy gravitt have been it's a beautiful place but i found to commercialised far to many people n the grounds spoilt it for me

chrissy gravitt Me too! My 15th great grandfather was an Earl of Chatsworth. His name was Sir John Blackmore.
Don't bother. It's just a house with a garden. Derbyshire is nice but same as any other countryside in any other country

I loved the movie too!!!
I also loved the movie, but I think you should add more "greats" to the aunt. Diana lived in the 20th century and Georgiana lived in the mid-1700's.
It’s a fabulous and wonderful place. Just sublime
Only a Brit would refer to a monster renovation as tidying up!
At times on the name of art lots of chaotic-mess destruction comes in.
Due to the Duke's decision's the estate lives. Bravo.

Gorgeous
Great presentation 🥰
Curious you do not name the Interviewer, particularly as it is his face that fronts the video on TH-cam?

Must have been a musty old place for a long time.

Spent 3 days visiting Chatsworth..The sculpture is ........
This is a Grave of cold dead things
Not a warm home.

The castles are real
He has no Aesthetic sense at all when it comes to Contemporary Art. A used car dealers dream - one could sell him anything!
Awful.
sickening....how many poor people worked to death for these shyts ?
Yes and what do you want them to do about it
Stupid comment - it is their talent that is their legacy, for all to enjoy.
If they weren't working in the quarries, they would be hanging out in the pub all day drinking their lives away and accomplishing nothing.
@@ednorton47 I’m related to Devonshire family
