Honestly episode 6 of this show probably one of the best episodes of TV this year. John doesnt try to think with his brain and just acts, where as Jane is too calculated in what she says. Watching how realistically dysfunctional they both are in this episode feels painfully relatable.
from a writing standpoint too it’s genius cause a viewer can relate to both characters in specific moments and like them both more while also being able to decide for themselves who they think they might act more like and see the other pov. W show l

There’s such a thing called an arranged marriage
They both aren't made for this specific job for different reasons. John is too aloof in his emotional decisions, and Jane is too strict in her view of a partner to where it is difficult for her to be flexible. This is a job, but it is also a marriage. John has the Marriage aspect down but Jane has the work aspect down and neither of them have both.
That poor woman's house! They kept building up how precious it was and how irreplaceable everything in it was. They really are some clown ass spies.

Nah that was funny, she had to show how culturally in it she was and how well travelled she was it came off as condescending. She flew in wood from her old house to make new flooring, that's hilariously over the top.
She interrupts them all the time before they finish a story, she tries to talk down the stress of their careers because she doesn't understand it, has that random outburst at her son and has to take time out to audibly find her center in front of them, she doesn't offer any actual teachings to help them work through their problems seriously, she constantly reminds them to pay her with the QR code everytime she says "our time is up" after not working on anything, then to top it all off she gets so stressed from hearing just a real argument between a couple when it's her job to hear these things she pulls a vape and ignores her son.
She's clearly written to be the unlikeable, tolerance on the outside barely controlled emotions on the inside "empath" archetype. I don't think we have to be so serious when bad things happen to fictional people just for them being unlikeable, it's just funny.

Phenomenal fucking acting then, holy shit I wanted to step out the room and let them finish. John went overboard but I can 100% see _why_ he would go overboard from the constant mentioning of his mother. And though Jane's not entirely without a point, John is right in that she is _constantly_ finding different ways to make him feel stupid, beyond just calling him that.

15:56 I get why John put his mom as his emergency contact: We know how close both are and after weeks arguing with Jane without resolution in sight, and if something happens to him, i really doubt that Jane would tell anything,to her.
Does that put her in danger? Yeah, but i guess that threshold was already cross when John accepted being an agent and if the agency they are working accepted that (because i doubt that they don't know that John is communicating with her) i believe John knows that too.

I love how real the argument got, you feel uncomfortable watching them. This and the Shive & Tom fight in Succession are the best couples fights I've seen in TV or movies ever because how uncomfortable they make you feel and how real they are.

When I first saw this episode, I initially legitimately thought Sarah Paulson's character was a therapist provided by the Company for Johns and Janes to have a space to talk about their issues and that she might be reporting back to Hihi. That notion was dispelled the moment she asked them what they did for a living and they kept up the lie about being software engineers. I liked that choice because it was funnier that she didn't know.
The whole time they were arguing in the woods I was so uncomfortable while literally yelling at the screen, please stop before one of y'all says something you can't apologize for! They couldn't hear me though 😂
BY FAR my Favorite episode of the season. Really just a good episode in televison. The argument felt SO real, and both Donald and Maya really Killed their scenes! I love it, I Love it, I LOVE IT!
As an Autistic man I heavily identify with Jane. Society consistantly associates hiding Autistic traits like compartmentalizing, difficulty reading or expressing emotions, and a need for a structured regimen to be able to cope with life with being a robot or with being a sociopath. Being in a relationship as an Autistic person is difficult especially if the Autistic person doesn't know themself and I think this show did an amazing job at representing that intentionally, or not. Jane as a character means so much to me and her dynamic with John is so important as representation.
You guys have the best commentary out of every single reaction channel, your chemistry is so strong and you all play off each other so well. Thank you for being a constant presence in my life and making me laugh even on hard days, love y’all ❤️

I took from it, he is all she has period. While he has the emotional support of his mom, who can she vent to, bounce ideas off of regarding the relationship no one. I dont think that is what she was saying. Even if she wanted her father in her life, John is her literal partner in every way and would still be her EC. She feels hurt that John cant have the same level of trust in her as she does in him.
Correction: She feels hurt that John can't have the level of love for her as he does for his mother. Which is a completely asinine feeling. My mom is sick and it's only getting worse and one day she will be alone, I'm not putting anyone on that level of love and even if you can't relate to that, you should be mature enough to understand and not use it as ammo during an argument. Plus John's plans do to much, like during the ski trip he went head on with his plan and he nearly got himself killed in the snow. I'm not saying that Jane doesnt have issues, because she does. Nah, I get the John slander because I don’t like how they’re making him look incompetent but I’ll give the show the benefit of the doubt because maybe he’s like that because he’s not really into obeying the system like that. Maybe he feels he did enough of that when he was in the Marines. Hopefully IF there is a season 2 he’ll be more competent since they’ll be on the run from the system.

With the emergency contact thing: John was lashing out and calling her unfeeling and cold because she doesn't talk to her family, but Jane doesn't have those relationships at all. I think she was pointing out that when they took the position and were asked if they'd legitimately be able to cut off their family, John made an exception out of love and duty to his mother; where Jane didn't have anyone in her life who cared about her at all, let alone anyone that she'd have to think twice about cutting off a connection with. So she's a bit envious probably, that he even has a someone he loves so dearly that he'd break the rules knowing the risks, but mostly she's upset he's using her lack of familial closeness against her when she knows that he's the closest thing she has to family.

Heyy guyss, i would like to give you a recommendation to react The First Slam Dunk Movie by Takehiko Inoue. It's one of the best sports manga and anime of all time. This show is on same level with Haikyuu and maybe arguably better than Haikyuu. In fact, the author of Haikyuu was inspired by Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk Writer's).
