Inner Self
2 Corinthians 4:16 So we are not discouraged. On the contrary, even though our outward self is wasting away, yet our inner self is renewed day by day.
The “inner self” is the “you” that can talk to yourself, plans, makes decisions. *Here we see through Paul’s difficult times his inner self is being renewed day by day. * Eph 3 tells us one way we are renewed by the holy spirit.
Ephesians 3:16 that according to the riches of his glory he would grant you to be strengthened with power in the inner self by means of his spirit)
James 1:21 Therefore, putting away all moral filth and wickedness (which is so prevalent), receive with meekness the word that has been planted in youcthat is able to save your souls.
Psuchē here means of the individual himself with an emphasis on his thoughts and emotions. This is 2 part, eternally but also to be rescued in this life also.
Romans 7 :22-23 For I delight in the law of God so far as my inner self is concerned, 23but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging a war against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin that is in my members.
Power of words

Interests” are not hobbies or what someone wants to do, but what is good for the person in their relationship with God and Christ. To look out for the interests of others is to consider what would bring them closer to Christ.
Proverbs 4:20:23 My son, pay attention to my words, incline your ear to my sayings. 21Do not let them depart from before your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. 22For they are life to the ones discovering them, and health to a person’s whole body. 23More than anything else you protect, guard your heart, because from it flow the issues of life.
The point here is that the heart is the source of the bodies activities
*life proceeds from the heart, which in this context is the inner core of the person’s life There are people in our circles that hurt
We need to check our hearts our inner self and be ready to help others
