MonkWerks with Fr. Thomas Thank you very much! I alternated the direction of the curly maple so the curl would catch light in different ways too. just a little added touch.
EazyEVM Thank you! She is still struggling with lung development and having to be back on a ventilator because of that. Hopefully just more time is all it is going to take.
Hi Tim, Thanks for this video. I'm busting out 9 of these for Christmas gifts and have referred to this multiple times to fill in the gaps where plans left off. The walnut & maple combo is nice contrast which I prefer over the suggested mission oak & maple combo.
Tim, the clock is beautiful, the build was impressive as well! Yep, that is a gorgeous piece of walnut on top. I love your INCRA System! I've GOT to look into that.... Thanks for sharing. ;-)
Nicely done Tim. That is really beautiful. I have the Incra fence on my table saw as well. I like your set up with the build in router on the left side. I noticed several measuring inserts on your Incra fence? What are they all for? I also noticed some additions to your clamps. What are the cross pieces you have on there when you clamped the two side pieces to the front? I would love to see a shop tour.
Howard Springsteen Thank you. I love the Incra fence system. The extra measuring inserts I have in there are for different dovetail patterns. I had footage that I edited out of the video of those pieces added to the clamps that allow me to clamp at an angle. They are for the BESSEY Tool GmbH & Co KG K-Body Revo clamps. I bought mine from Amazon here: www.amazon.com/dp/ASIN/B001HSO6WW/?tag=woodwork0b-20
WoodworkingManiak Thanks. I had never seen those for the Bessey clamps. If you don't mind my asking, what is the table saw, and router table that you use?
Howard Springsteen I have a Jet cabinet saw with the Incra extension wing. Watch my shop update video next Friday and I'll add that footage showing the Bessey attachments for you.
Beautiful clock! I especially like the grain pattern on the top. I really enjoyed your video and have subscribed and gave this a thumbs up. Thanks for the video!
The joinery came out very nice! Those joints aren't coming apart! Hey you used "Le spray can lid" !! Nick Ferry would be proud! :) Beautiful wood! Chris
Dennis Waske Thank you, This was actually the very first time I ever used a set of plans... I changed up the plans just a little, but won't be posting plans because it's a design based from a Woodsmith magazine back in 2012.
I can't figure how you had time to do it with all that is going on in your family, even if you were up late. B e a u t i f u l clock and choice of wood!
MRrwmac Thank you. Up late might be an understatement... I pulled a couple all-nighters on this one. But I said I would have a build video for Friday and I'm a man of my word. :)
Good luck with the videos, keep working on them.. but give credit where credit is due!.. this clock was featured on The WoodSmith Shop and plans are available online, here's the link... www.woodsmithshop.com/download/712/craftsman-style-clock.pdf
Andrew, thanks for watching. I did give credit in my article on my website. My website is currently in maintenance mode for some updates, I invite you to check that out once I update the links. Also in a previous comment when they asked if I would be providing plans for this clock.
WoodworkingManiak Well, locating the credit in hard to find places or hidden in some random comments or responding when someone mentions it is much less effective than just stating in the video (and putting a link) that this is your interpretation of someone else's project, this way people can discover the original plans and ideas as well to come up with their own interpretation.... people do it all the time.. and as someone who almost never reads comments because they are such garbage and even more rarely writes them, I wouldn't look in comments for any information left out of a video.. I'm not being a jerk.. lol, I think your vids will be great once you get some feedback and refine your approach, you're doing well, just takes a little time.... it was just something that I observed and thought I'd mention.. if I were the designer of that clock I'd surely want it well known that it was my design... especially in the build video, not on an inactive website or hidden in some random comments people aren't likely to read... I did love the clock when I first saw it on the TV show too, just never got around to making it for myself yet...... I discovered this video from David over at the drunken woodworker so I'm sure you would like to uphold the value of his recommendation... keep up the good work.. thanks!...
Andrew Lucas I'm absolutely open to all the feedback possible. If you look at my channel, it's obvious, I'm new to the TH-cam video scene. Also, this is actually the first time I have ever made something following plans in my life... I was pondering what to make for a video and happened to come across that old magazine and thought that would look nice on my mantle. I wasn't really sure if mentioning a magazine in my video would be highly recommended. Which is why I'm writing it up in my article that I'm going to have a link to in the description of my video... I'll probably talk about it in my video this Friday in a shop update video. I appreciate the comments and after looking back, I probably should have mentioned the magazine in the video at some point, even though I changed it up ever so slightly. However, it's too late now. :/ Thanks again, and please follow along on my journey. There is plenty more to come.
WoodworkingManiak I saw it on the WoodSmith Shop TV show so tons more saw it than just the magazine readers.. and it's ok being new.. you are doing the right thing absorbing the feedback and refining your game.. if you look at some of David's videos, he starts a video by crediting the original designer, and provides a link for those plans, articles, or whatever it may be where he gained the inspiration.. Marc over at the wood whisperer does the same thing.. it's just the right thing to do.. it figures that the first project you do with plans and then document with a video that you'd get called on it.. haha.. kind of funny.. actually, it is an interesting concept if you think about it.. because many woodworkers would like to follow plans but may not for some reason be able to or get stuck on certain steps.. bringing the build to life from plans is something that could be very useful for people and entertaining and unique.... incorporating the plans into the show content as you go through the build might help bridge the gap between plans and build.. and staying current with the new magazines and even using other youtube woodworkers plans.. and it's not really seen at all on the current flood of woodworking vids.. not sure what permissions you'd need from some sources.. such as mags, but I'm sure the youtube guys would be easy to contact and collaborate on the presentation of the content... but an interesting concept that might be worth exploring if you plan to stick around...
What's the point of making a video that just shows woods going through various expensive power tools? Obviously just bragging and nothing else (nothing wrong with it though but do not expect any other then your family and a few others to run and watch it). I think many people want to learn and see techniques and not spend 10 long boring minutes watching woods going through power tools! I am may be direct with my opinion here, but believe that many successful video producers understand this basic point.
Leane Garden Thank you for your criticism. If there are specific techniques that you may have seen me brush over quickly in this video that you would like to see in more detail, please let me know. At some point I will try to produce a video on the technique I used. I am by no means trying to brag about what I have. What I was trying to do, was to show how each piece of wood got to the the size and shape that it needed to be to make the clock. Mostly, using various the tools to do so... I do plan to do some other videos on specific tips and techniques on how I do things to go along with my build videos. However, I believe that people need to see that I can produce decent final products. For me to show all those techniques in a single video for the entire build would make the video very long, possibly hours long. And I don't really want to do multiple part build videos.
WoodworkingManiak Hey Tim. I'm not part of "your family" but did watch and liked. Don't know why some folks feel the need to watch things they don't like and then comment on them. I did notice they have never produced a TH-cam video for someone else to criticize. JimE
***** I guess I should have expanded on my last sentence. I was trying to point out that, like me, they don't have any videos to criticize. Not to say, I haven't used the "thumbs down" button on a few occasions. That is what it is there for and says enough as far as I am concerned.
Agreed on the walnut comment. It is a beautiful wood. And the clock looks great.
Make Crazydays Thank you. Love walnut...
Excellent work! The grain in the top is beautiful.

Felipe Del Papa Thank you for your kind comments!
I especially like the way you made the face of the clock, much better than the paper ones that often get added to clocks.
MonkWerks with Fr. Thomas Thank you very much! I alternated the direction of the curly maple so the curl would catch light in different ways too. just a little added touch.
Nicely done Tim!

Mike Fulton Thanks, I enjoy getting views from different angles in my videos.
Your videos seem to get exponentially better with each one you create. Keep up the great work! Also, I hope your child is doing well. God bless.
EazyEVM Thank you! She is still struggling with lung development and having to be back on a ventilator because of that. Hopefully just more time is all it is going to take.
Beautiful piece Tim, great job.
WildmanProject Thank you!
Turned out fantastic, Tim!! Good looking clock! Now I know why you were up so late yesterday morning! Great videography, also!
Rob Harrod Thank you, I was determined to get it completed.
Hi Tim,
Thanks for this video. I'm busting out 9 of these for Christmas gifts and have referred to this multiple times to fill in the gaps where plans left off. The walnut & maple combo is nice contrast which I prefer over the suggested mission oak & maple combo.
+Derek Cadmus Awesome! Glad to be of a little help. Send me some pictures of your completed clocks and I'll post them on my site.

Sweet clock Tim! Nicely done!
Cool Tool Shed Woodworking Thank you Chris! It was fun to make.
Tim, the clock is beautiful, the build was impressive as well! Yep, that is a gorgeous piece of walnut on top. I love your INCRA System! I've GOT to look into that.... Thanks for sharing. ;-)

Looks great! nice job
Rich McNatt Thank you!
Great video and clock, Tim!
Steve Collins Thank you!
Like the clock, good design.

Great video Tim, saw you on the weekly wood working wrap up review.
John Pierce Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to watch my video!
Very nice!
Drunken Woodworker Thank you! With my daughter in the hospital, I had to complete this in just a couple long nights. I'm happy with the results :)
Beautiful clock! I especially like the grain pattern on the top. I really enjoyed your video and have subscribed and gave this a thumbs up. Thanks for the video!
KSFWG Thank you very much for the kind comment and watching!
The joinery came out very nice! Those joints aren't coming apart! Hey you used "Le spray can lid" !! Nick Ferry would be proud! :) Beautiful wood!
Chris
Chris Pine Yes "Le Spray can lid" served me very well. Thank you Nick Ferry
Really liked the clock. Love it in walnut. Are there plans available?
Dennis Waske Thank you, This was actually the very first time I ever used a set of plans... I changed up the plans just a little, but won't be posting plans because it's a design based from a Woodsmith magazine back in 2012.
Nice job Tim. I want that fence :)
OneWood - Warren Downes Thank you! The Incra fence system is one of the best investments I ever made. I love it!
Very nice clock. I found your channel from David at the Drunken Woodworker.
John Conklin Thank you for watching!
Good stuff!

Kevin Jett The finish is natural Danish Oil for the entire project.

Thank you!
Are there plans available?

Wow! The clock looks great,
I think that "B" is for Blanford, let me send you my address so you can get it in the mail. ;^)
Regards,
Bob
RJBWoodTurner Thanks Bob, I'm glad you like it... But I think I'm keeping this one in my family. :)
Very cool. But some kind of narrative would have been useful for complete noobs like me.
Ashish Kasturia Thank you. I was going to do that. I was on a limited time frame this week with my daughter in the hospital. Thanks for watching!

I disagree with Leane's comment. I honestly enjoyed watching the entire video and hope you do more.
I picked up a nice idea for the sled jig for making the angled cut for the legs. (And I'm not related to the content creator...)
