Great value? Work Sharp Angle Set Knife Sharpener first impressions

  • His system has a ton of potential to be a hall of famer. To me it main competition is the Spyderco Sharpmaker which I’ve used extensively for the past 10 years and has proven itself to be superb. The work sharp system offers more versatility with its diamond and ceramic stones and more sharpening angles. I also love that they included the rubber feet on the bottom of the base to keep it from sliding while sharpening. It’s still way to early to say if it’s a better system than the sharpmaker but I plan to sharpen a bunch of knives in as many different steels as possible so I can give you the most educated decision as possible in the full review. So stay tuned if you want to see how it does for me.

    Looks like it would be really good to have in a camper or shelter or a camp you are going to be at for a few days. I like the angles and not having to pay extra for diamond stones.

    I’d bite if I didn’t already have the Sharpmaker. I only use it to touch up and since I keep the same angle on my knives, I’m set with what I have. I would definitely try one if I had a tree that grows money. Thanks for the video.

    • @Stassa23
      @Stassa23  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Slicey Dicey I must say after I broke the stones in it has worked great especially when I don’t feel like spending a bunch of time with the wicked edge. For the price I’d say it’s definitely worth it. I sharpened up 5 of my beaters last night in various steels and it only took me about two hours and all the edges were jacked up with either rolls or chips. After you finish with the ceramic stone it’s hair popping sharp and then I do a few passes on my 1 micron strip and then it’s stupid sharp. I think you would really like it 👌

    I use hand wet stones but lately I have been really wanting to try a system where can I buy this system? Cuz I wanna get better and better and I have never tried a system so if I can get something like this then I can put away the hand stones and work a system to perfect my sharpening skills and not have a bunch of big stones I want to eventually get to be able to get a KME or something crazy. I’m getting tired using block stones. This looks completely simple to use and get the same if not better results with my current skills. I digg all your vids brother this is the first review of a any sharpening system and on how it works it’s all been stones I mean I guess could’ve specifically looked it up and watched one but this vid was cool cuz it was this little affordable system and looks relatively easy to use and you got that opinel to cut good with like 3 or 4 passes I want to get to mirror edge skill I’m not bad but I’m ready to upgrade to get better. So please where can I get one? Thanks brother 🤙🏼

      In your case I would go for the sharpmaker
      The sharpmaker has more stone options and lets you sharpen on the corner and in the groove

      You can also take a look at the spyderco gauntlet (if you mainly sharpen folders)
      The gauntlet has a very quick setup and the cat eye stones have a lot of clean surface (twice as much as the sharpmaker)
      It's also better at sharpening revurves and serrations

      I still think it’s a great sharpening system but only for touchups on edc knives with harder steel, hawk bill and recurve blades.
      If you want to sharpen badly damaged, soft steel, field sharpening or kitchen knives you’re better of with the sharpmaker.
      But I lately saved a lot of knives from sharpening by using a leather stropping paddle with compound on one side and nothing on the other it saves a lot of time and keeps my knives razor sharp

      The sharpmaker is more for putting a micro bevel on a knife or to hone a knife after you use it. The worksharp you can actually sharpen a knife that’s dull since it has diamond plates

    one thing which you also have shown unintentionally, that it is extremly wobbly! Did you notice how much it was shaking around when you touched it, even when you touched it only a little bit? it does not stand still and secure at all, so not only you have to hold it securley when sharpening you have to pay attention, it lacks weight really, thats a very bad thing for a sharpener, big disadvantage. Check your angle when sharpening ... no I do not like the wobbly plastic, even the little Lansky stands more still than this one here
