Oh! I had a Yashica Mat 124G which I used alongside my Pentax Spotmatic, working as public relations photographer for the colleges I attended. Strictly black-and-white, mostly Kodak Tri-X, occasionally Plus-X, and we did our own darkroom work. (Both institutions I atteded had wonderful, fully-equipped black-and-white darkrooms.) I absolutely LOVED the images from the Yashica Mat. My colleagues preferred being on the sidelines of sports events with their fast 35mm cameras, but my joy was photographing theatre play dress rehearsals and orchestral concerts with the Yashica Mat. Push Tri-X to ASA (now ISO) 1600, develop in Diafine ... the deep rich shadows and creamy highlights ... visually delicious! I didn't cherish that camera as I should have. I wore it out, neglected it, did not get it repaired, and somewhere along the way, I lost track of it. Your video has inspired me to seek out another one. Maybe. I no longer have access to a darkroom, and that's a serious consideration. Thank you!
Wow, thank you Barry! There is something about Tri-X that just hits the spot! Thank you for sharing your process, I think you may have inspired me to push the film and try using different chemistry. The Yashica is a fabulous Medium Format camera, I hope you’re able to get one soon and get back in another darkroom! Have you considered a portable darkroom such as Ilford’s?
@@ahsanabbasphotography Yes, I'd encourage you to try it out. I don't think Diafine is made any more, but I've heard that other companies have copied the formulation. If I can find some details, I'll add it to this thread. But of course there are other good processes for push-processing Tri-X. If you try it out and get good results, maybe you'll post a video about it?
I have one they are beautiful to shoot although the meter works on mine I use a hand held instead the lens is sharp and it produces stunning images nice way into medium format I use mine alongside my Bronica SQA and ETRS thanks for sharing great camera
@@ahsanabbasphotography absolutely I toyed with one before I bought my ETRS then succumbed to one 2 months ago lol I love it for street photography it gets people talking they want to chat to you about it especially the older generation as they are more used to seeing and using one similar. Anyone thinking about one get one they are a joy to use
@@ahsanabbasphotography absolutely agree that’s why I love going out with it it always sparks interest and as you already said it’s a great conversation starter then I can get some nice portraits as well 👍🏻
