i kinda like my eclipse photo that just features the moon and sun. the wider shot is terrible -- it was a good idea in theory but def impossible to achieve
@@ribsy it's unique! Lots of people got the moon and sun! The rest of us didn't get the chance to put it next to that bridge. And it does look otherworldly.
Like it that you can see the eclipsed sun real small in the video footage just below the bridge caused by internal reflection of the lens at 7.20 near the bridge support. Thanks for the video, very inspirational 😊
I’ve also been shooting with a TLR and a Canon rangefinder (the vi for me) working on building my confidence with strangers to take more portraits. Love your work Ribsy! Keep it up!
Angsty moody bridge shot is such a W. Imagine a print of that in a restaurant or something! And then if it was captioned “eclipse” people would geek. Well i would 😁
Glad to see you're still enjoying the Canon P. I just got one, my first rangefinder, and I've never had so much fun walking around taking photos of random crap. :D
The B&W shots with the P are cool. I like what you shoot with that camera. Personally, unless the subject is colorful and/or if you’re drawn to it for reasons of color, I find B&W more appealing. There’s just something mysterious about it, and by “mysterious”, I mean that it omits an element which allows the viewer to participate in the creative process because they fill in the missing pieces with their own imagination… Not sure if I’m explaining that in a way that makes sense to anyone.
as somebody who has lived on the west coast my whole life this kinda stuff is always happening I loved those photos you posted on the gram and I'm so glad you went back. Pretty much every sunday looks like your entire shoot out here. Latino culture is my favorite probably because I grew up around it. I love the vibe of their culture and why I learned their language from scratch. Absolute gem to be able to do it in NYC. I have so much respect for the entire culture as a whole and It really opened my eyes when the first girl I ever dated was latino. And also your dual wielding thing, it's an absolute MUST when you're out Ribsy! I do the same thing as well, I'll usually have my Bronica S2a with b&w and a 35mm half frame called the dial 35 for misc candid stuff. Most of the time my dial 35 just hangs from my wrist while I shoot portraits. I also really like using the rolleiflex or yashica mat in combination with it as well. It's great having both black and white and color too!
Thanks for sharing your combo with us. At one time, I carried a medium format Yashica TLR with fixed normal lens and a 35mm Nikon SLR with 24/50/105mm lenses. Today, I carry a medium format 6x7cm Fuji rangefinder with fixed normal lens and a 35mm Leica rangefinder with 21/35/90mm lenses.
I love your approach. Put love out there, what happens happens. Inspiring. I sometimes like to hide behind my camera and pretend like I'm not there, and I think there can be a time for tht. But when it's all I do I'm not exploring the side of a positive interaction.
I like your photos a lot, never had a yashica but maybe try in the future. I tried a canon p from a friend and with glasses i cant see the 35mm framelines at all so it was a no for me, despite loving how it feels in the hand.
Just interesting to know which lens you prefer to use on your Canon P. I am looking now for my P some Canon 35mm LTM and cant decide about f2 or f3.5. Just read some very confusing reviews about both.
Have you ever had one of those dodgy sun tans when you wear a baseball cap the wrong way round ? I have . Wasn't a good look on me ! Like the photo of the boy with his dad

The bridge shot of the eclipse is awesome. Looks otherworldly.
You think so?! I was pretty bummed with it

Yup! Me too
Great Video Ribsy!! Another sick episode. Can't wait for the next video.
Thank you for the support!
Loved the picture of the kid and his dad. Actually loved all photos! curiosity is peaking me, do you scan the images yourself or a lab?
Thanks! I scan all myself with a digital camera and negative lab pro
Great street portraits. I use the Canon P with an old Leica Elmar 50mm 3.5 and love the look. Give it a try if you can get your hands on one!
Sounds interesting
You a G! Keep at it brother

i use the canon 35mm 2.0 - it has great image character and is tiny
@@ribsy Thank you for the recommendation;-)
Is the lens on the P the 50 1.4?
Na canon 35mm 2.0
Have you ever had one of those dodgy sun tans when you wear a baseball cap the wrong way round ? I have . Wasn't a good look on me ! Like the photo of the boy with his dad
Happens to me all the time! Wife hates it 😂
Nothing too amazing? This photo is pretty amazing. @5:54
appreciate you!
Sound like a Wendy event.
??
Nice work as always. Also no need to comment on the mentally ill that they’re spitting nonsense. It’s obvious and unnecessary.
i didn't say anything rude or judgmental about him. he was talking nonsense
Wow lowriders
Yea! A nice surprise in NYC
