Good morning Brian and the crew. Have a great Sunday! What a beautiful museum & tour! I was in Chattanooga about 8 years ago & wish I had known of this..
Interesting visit to TVRM. Unlike many other railroad "museums", TVRM is known for its passenger car collection. @4:56, the train you were on board rode past one of the most unique examples of "latter-day" lightweight passenger cars...Pullman-Standard's so-called "Beauty Sleepers"...6-roomette, 4 double-bedroom, 6 open-section "Pine"-series cars built in 1951, the bulk of which (22 cars) went to L&N, with 4 additional ones for C&EI, and 3 to NC&StL (one of which -- "Chickamauga Pine" resides at TVRM). Out of these 29 cars, only five remain today, and TVRM's car is -- likely -- the ONLY survivor whose interior remains intact, as it was originally built. This "Pine"-series was the last such sleeping car built by Pullman-Standard...their original / traditional 6-6-4 configuration was changed (with the "Pine" series) to 6-4-6, placing the more expensive 4 double bedrooms in the center of the car for a better ride. BTW...that Budd dome observation car seen @9:36 at the TVRM shops looks v-e-r-y similar to the ex-Rock Island / Butterworth Tours "Big Ben". 👍👍
As the locomotive sang, "You turn me right 'round, baby, right 'round. Like a record, baby", it glides on to the turntable and prepares to go for a spin. LOL! I think it's wonderful how you do you videos - informative, educational, fun, and with your 'personal' interaction with the camera (viewer) you make it seem like we're there railfanning in person. THANK YOU, JAW TOOTH for the hours of work and the expenses you incur to make these videos for us to enjoy. Stay safe and be prosperous. "May God always and all ways, bless you and protect you"
I live on Lookout Mtn in Alabama and that engine used to run from Chattanooga to Gadsden, AL . It ran on tracks on the eastside of Lookout Mtn., which are no longer there.
Several years ago I paid a little extra and was allowed to ride that route in the cab of a steam locomotive. Incredible experience. When the engineer blew the whistle the sound just surrounded you. Good to see you in our part of the country!
Jaw Tooth, the best seat on the train is in the vestibule between the cars, you can hear it, see it, smell it and wear it home. My Dad worked for the Southern on the TAG back in the 60's and 70's and was actually on this locomotive. He went from Chattanooga to Gadsden Alabama everyday on the TAG line.
Thank you for letting us see that. Such a cool video of the inner workings of a railroad of yesteryear. That blue on the old Norfolk Southern was really spectacular. Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Still at rehab so doubly enjoyable.
My first Memory Of seeing a train is watching the excursion 630 run through my hometown Wilmore, KY. That Locomotive is really special to me. Anyways, amazing ride!
@@JawTooth When my Family Brought me down to the tracks, near the caboose, which is my present train-watching spot, It inspired me to pursue the interest of trains. Great Video!
This is a great video JT, very interesting to see an American heritage line and the historical equipment waiting restoration. It’s surprising how many Southern gondola cars crop up in your videos, albeit looking well past their best!
This is really great seeing the Tennessee railroad yard and the turntable they use to turn the engines around on and the entire yard is filled with everything a train fan would like and riding on the train is even better seeing the beautiful scenery and all of the trains there in the yard especially the iron top bridges, as well as always the amazing live action pets dogs and cats either playing in the house or in the yard and the rocking music slide shows as always thank you Jaw Tooth.🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲
Now that was a great video JT and I’m like you man I love looking at old stuff like that. Specially, when you got a narrator telling you the history of all of it so anyway, my friend another great video and as always, you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one.
Wow cool show, things ya don't see everyday! Love the bell on the steam train ding ding ding ! Can't wait for Part 2 . Looks like Loki keeps the kitten entertained
What a cool video Jawtooth. When I was working as a brakeman on NWP RR, at Healdsburg yard they had a turntable that was operated by air when you hooked it up to the train line on the locomotive and turn those SD-9s around. It was really neat! Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Thanks 👍❤️
Thank you for the video, JT! It was interesting and educational, not to mention the awe inspiring locomotives and passenger cars! I certainly enjoyed it greatly. I love seeing your pets, as well. Please tell all of them I said hi! I hope you and your family all have a fabulous week ahead, and please be careful out there. We'll chat again soon, I hope! 😄😄😄😄😄❤❤❤❤❤
Great video. I like it. I remember going there with my dad last summer. I got the honor to ride in the cab with the engineer along with another guy who was with us. It was so much fun. I filmed the entire ride, although I had to do it in two parts.
Jaw Tooth, thanks for sharing your visit to the T.V.R.. I was there sometime in the 1980's and me and a friend, road the train ride pulled by steam engine, from the turntable end to the far station and back. Neat how they can turn the engine around at each end. They sure have added & changed a lot, since I was there. We seen high speed modern passenger cars there that were a failure, looks like they got rid of them.
Certainly a large museum with quite the amount of operable equipment. It also looks like there's still plenty to restore but when completed it will really take some time to get through that complex. Having that nice operable turntable is a big plus plus the wye and all those shop buildings put it way ahead of many others. A comfortable ride plus having operable Steam. Having the former TVA H16-66 is a real treat as all the ones I knew on the MILW ROAD plus the C&NW have been scrapped A great place to take the family and check out the rail scenes of yesterday
21:14 #109 is an ALCo RS-3. The RS-1s was shown at 4:50 ( chop nose version ). 5:14 shows an RSD-1 which is an RS-1 that was converted for overseas military use and rides on 6 wheel trucks instead of an RS-1's 4 wheel trucks. The cab also is different in shape to allow its use in Europe.
JT: I was there once in 1998, 4501 had just came back from a mainline excursion a day or two before, so it was parked and they were running an Ex Army Alco RSC-1, and I got a cab ride in that, by paying an extra fare! Neat experience over that trackage---lots of history there! Hope to do that again before I pass on. Joe Bliss
Thanks, Brian! GREAT video! I'm impressed by the size of the place, and the whole operation! Dedication to, and love for, railroads and their history. There are 6 RR museums here in CT (maybe more), and I haven't been to any - yet. I'm gonna start, want to show my grandson all about railroading.
Sorry, got a day behind in my viewing. I think it's wonderful that they were able to save the TVA F3060, one of the few "Baby Trainmasters" still in existence. The High Hood SD-40 #3170 and GP-30 #5000 look sharp in their Southern paint. I'm impressed at the number and variety of locomotives and rolling stock they have both at the shop and in storage elsewhere.
Hey jaw tooth cool train ride. Going through tunnel must been exiting. Hopefully everything on display will be able to run one day. Glad to see pets doing great and playing. Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
Glad you enjoyed it! I will post it sometime this week. I have a couple other ones I want to post from Georgia and our internet went out yesterday. Return trip will show the train turning on the wye with an NS train passing

Was the narrator aware that he had a celebrity on the train? Surely he announced your presence! Seeing a turntable in action was cool!
A perfect opportunity for the 'ol "do you know who I am?" Speech.

We are so excited that you are in our area!!! We love TVRM! My 4 year old loves the 4501, so much. They let him come in the cab and ring the bell.
That is awesome!
Glad you made it out here! 🤗
