Tesla sell less than a little automaker like Volvo. What we are talking about? For the Other automaker ev is only one propulsion systems very hiped but unprofitable. Every one knows that for the next years ice will be prominent. And personally consider Tesla more risky of bankrupt then the others becouse the others has less debt and more profits. No one is really interested To compete with Tesla because the business model of Tesla is loser.
Felix Lol.... I can’t wait til I get my Tesla. I have my eyes on the cyber truck.. I have 4 kids and need at least a 6 seater but prefer a 7 seater. Sent from my iPhone... While on my toilet lol
@@naughtyprofessor100 Doesn't really matter. Some people will always have a different opinion. Tesla wanted majority support. In general, you can't buy ICE vehicles online. But you can buy EVs, both online and offline. And EVs buyers seem to prefer the online version. In general, EV buyers are generally forward thinking and cost-cutting people. And it seems a bit cool, if you can buy a car from your home, rather than walking around several shop. Not to mention, the decrease in cost due to this model. So, it seems EVs will be bought online in the future. ICE vehicle buyers don't care about cost and hence they won't mind going to the dealership, as they will anyways have spend much higher in maintenance and fuel
@@illbeyourmonster1959 As a Tesla owner, I can tell you service is way better than for other cars. I literally go in the app, describe the issue, find an available time slot, and Tesla SENDS someone to your location to fix it. I just experienced this a couple of months ago when my charge port cover was making a strange noise when opening.
Software plays a smaller role in people purchasing Tesla's. It is a number of things, like huge long lasting batteries, which no other OEM comes close to offering Tesla's ranges. Plus Tesla uses a lot of aluminum in their cars, which doesn't rust like steel. I believe it's one of the reasons for their long warranties.
Both Software and hardware are what give Tesla the edge, an article came out yesterday(I think), multiple legacy auto makers did a teardown of the Model 3 and after looking at everything from hardware to software, they came to thw conclusion that they cant compete right now. They stated that Teslas ability to produce hardware and software in-house gives them an edge in that sense
Most Tesla buyers would put the innovative tech as the main reason to buy one , charging speed perhaps less so these days when a Porsche Taycan can max out at 270 kw as opposed to Tesla's 150 kw ( no doubt faster speeds are coming soon !) . The supercharger network is not the big deal everyone makes out at the moment when over 90% of charging is still done at home or at a destination station like a place of work & obviously very few drivers of electric vehicles currently drive over 250 miles in a day !
vast majority of people charge at home overnight. it's a small percentage so no that's not "what" differentiates. Everytime I drive by Tesla charging stations, no car's ever charging there, even at malls I see Teslas parked in regular spaces instead of getting free charge with huge parking space.
@Jody Owen not true at all. Self driving vehicles both cars and semis are being ran across several state's hwys including Michigan and Cali for starters.
Who praises their interior? Its cheap bland and generic. Porsche and VW will certainly have a huge impact against Tesla. Tesla fans are like Sanders fans...limited.
Non-Tesla car makers generally: 1. Ask double the price, give half the range! 2. Have no 'over-the-air' updates 3. Have very few high speed charging stations 4. Are about 3 to 5 years behind on autonomous driving 5. Have a tiny fan base, so have huge advertising costs 6. Have big shortages in selling old fashioned batteries: they do not own a battery factory like Tesla nor invest in battery innovation like Tesla 7. Think they are a hardware selling company with some software elements in it... 8. Should think they are a software company with some hardware elements in it.......(a car is simply stated: a phone on wheels) As the CEO of VW mr. Herbert Diess said in an interview about Tesla: ' A big storm is coming...... ' Mercedes just fired 15.000 people.... So thanks, non-Tesla car factory managers, what will my petrol/diesel car be worth in a few years? Why has it huge maintenance costs in comparison to electric vehicles? I wish you a job at Nokia (or perhaps at Kodak?) You'll feel at home for sure! Except mr. Diess (VW is the only company who at least tries seriously): replacement of you is very urgent....think of all the workers loosing their jobs: your responsability!
Last thing I want is my car having a always on wireles link! You never watch Irobot? Lol these systems can already be hacked without the Scifi though and its not safe.
Exactly. If GM and Ford had done what they are doing now 5 years ago, they would be right in the muix with Tesla. GM actually had a great product with the Volt (I know as I have a 2012 model) the software was cutting edge, the interior was posh, you had a back-up (gas engine) if the Battery ran out. And then they failed keep advancing the technology, they chinced out on the next model to come out (2016 version was not a better vehicle) and then the did away with the Volt and created the Bolt, all electric, felt like a cheap model, like a Prius or Kia electric vehicle that I wouldn't be caught dead owning. When you spend $40k on a vehicle you expect every luxury and advanced technology available. GM didn't feel that way about the Bolt and that's why almost no-one buys a Bolt... why get a cheap EV when for the same price you can buy a Tesla?
@@1231legomaniac Absolutely. Testing and compiling data is key to future developments and that's great for competition sake but Tesla will have a fight on its hands when major automakers really turn their full attention to EV's. The good news for Tesla is that it has been able to distinguish itself as a brand and that will be valuable when the EV market becomes truly competitive and its current advantages fade as a result.
You said.... Tesla's "competition" only makes Tesla look that much better. .... you are SO RIGHT.... I'mma steal this from you.... boom! You sir, hit the nail on the head.
False. Major car companies like Volvo and VW were announcing all electric campaigns as early as 2018. Way before anyone knew Robinhood let's you trade TSLA

It was missing basically everything of importance. No Model Y mention, no difference between the enormous battery supply Tesla has and the not as many battery cells that the other automakers, combined, have, nothing about superchargers or autonomous driving or safety, even kept trying to make it seem like Tesla does not have an enormous cost advantage. Yeah, a Tesla is not going to cost $18,000 new any time soon, but it will cost you $18,000 or more less than an equivalent EV made by any other automaker so far.
Well, lot of people are scared from change and new innovation. You gotta give new things a chance to prove themselves and then see what is gonna happen next.
Youfan yea legacy automakers dont even have a stable battery production or supplier. people should know manufacturing is orders of magnitude harder than making a prototype. all tesla naysayers just complain about build quality, delivery times and elonmusk;) well tesla has already won.. it made neglected automakers take evs more seriously and electric is the future!! so why wait and hold onto ices
I work for Panasonic at Gigafactory One.... Tesla has the battery market on lock trust me. We make the most efficient batterys on the market today on a grand scale. Other battery manufacturers have nothing Panasonic's volume. The next 10 years will be the Lithium & solid state battery era.

Elon Musk is a visionary and innovator, something that traditional automakers lack. Autonomous electric vehicles, Space X, Solar roofs, Boring Company, Starlink, etc. are all disruptive technologies. He’s like Steve Jobs.
The manufacturer I work for doesnt want to sell electric car, they are one developing them because of Tesla's market share. Batteries are not more environmentally friendly. They can deliver high efficiency with low power. Gasoline by weight is much more efficient. The manufacturer I work for believes hydrogen is the future and electric cars further the development of hydrogen vehicles. I'm not sure there is enough solar panels to make electric vehicles viable.
i am sure the number one Toyota mastering in house (with 12 millions hybrid vehicles produced) all the bells and wistles of electric propulsion, E-motors, batteries and controls and as well leading the pick-up WW market has been ready for years to produce heavy battery powered cars and pickups where autonomy is even less critical than for cars. I guess with over 90% profitable market penetration in some Asian countries Toyota knows the WW market and how to stay highly profitable: on a 70 million per year car market, EV represent a small volume with at best no profits potential mid term, since Renault, quite successfull with Zoe has been unprofitable for the first time in 20 years due to this EV volume.
Competitors: we will take on Tesla HARD, they will no longer be the best EV in the market. Elon: **smirks** that was the plan my dear... to make you save the planet, While I colonize Mars.

Instead EV, Hyundai heavily invested in Fuel Cell powered vehicles. Basically, Tesla and EV have problems with charging and battery. You have to wait for app 30min for charging your battery. Hyundai fuel cell, Nexo only takes 1min for full charging. Some may argue that Tesla and EV is environmentally friendly. In fact, if you generate electricity based on fossil fuels, then EV is no longer environmentally friendly. Hyundai fuel cell, Nexo only creates water. Please, do some research about Hyundai Nexo. No more EV, Fuel Cell is the future.
@Weazel the company was not focusing on making a profit it was focusing on growing. What did you think Amazon did? It's also why it's a giant company and so will Tesla.
I like what Musk does. He is a great industrialist. But people can't be blinded by that. Eventually other companies will catch up and develop their own best electric cars.
When will people get over the fact it’s NOT a challenge to “beat” Tesla? Tesla wants every car to be electric and every car company to make electric vehicles, so it’s not a competition except with the one with the fossil fuel industry.
what a man says and what a man does is different.... elon does not allow others to use his charger network for cheap and hes not supplying factories to competitors.... so hes not actually wanting them to compete lol..
@bad bad mc bad ummmmm, you do realize that when they say Tesla Supercharge, they mean the thing that recharges the battery while you are parked, and not a forced air intake. And that the CHEAPEST Tesla (model 3 being the newest) is the one that is most compatible with these super fast chargers.
Not a single mention of any of these: autonomy, supercharging network, battery production, vertical integration, energy sector! Totally clueless, and the main reason they do not understand what is happening or where the stock will go ... I guess more for me and the ones that understand these fundamental technological shifts.
Ford, VW, GM and co are all building out fast charging networks such as Electrify America and Ionity in Europe. So in the not too distant future the supercharger network will lose its importance. Autonomy isn't a huge deal for most people. Tesla's energy sector investment has resulted in literally zero gains apart from the a useless building that Tesla have branded the second Gigafactory. Vertical integration isn't entirely necessary particularly when you have massive and already fully developed supply chains. Tesla only vertically integrated because they had very little else they could do. When it comes to battery production I can't argue that Tesla is out in front by miles. All this has maybe a small influence in stock value although not enough to take it to the heights it's reaching.
@@noahbowie5985 "Battery Day" will make everyone's jaw drop. Musk's thesis was on supercapacitor maximization in electric vehicles. In an interview, he recently stated supercapacitor maximization was his original goal, and now he says, IT'S NOT NECESSARY! I suspect Tesla will announce something on "Battery Day" that will scare the crap out of all of us!
While other automakers want to challenge and compete with Tesla to become the Tesla killer, Tesla’s goal/ideology is to have zero emission of Co2. Elon released thousands of patents so other companies can create electric cars as well. The ultimate goal wasn’t profit, but cleaner air to breathe and a healthier planet. Maybe other automaker shouldn’t look to compete for major profits but be apart of a movement.
True but at the end of the day, the only reason why automakers are jumping on board is because of money. They could careless about the planet. It took someone like Elon to come along and surprise everyone to make them change.

Lowlands could not agree more! They barely spent 60 seconds talking about demand problem for high cost electric vehicles. Out of 5+ million cars sold in US in 2019, roughly 200k were electric including all brands, that’s roughly 4%. And as tax incentives phase out for these vehicles, it would be even harder to sell them with their high price tag. This seems all because Cramer is liking Tesla stock now, which is helping their stock too in some manner. And Cramer runs show on CNBC 😛

It may seem like tesla has it locked down but the industry is actually pretty small and young it wouldn't take much to rebalance the market.
Think about this: 10 years ago not a single big car company (Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc.) was planning to truly release a non-concept EV to the roads. Because of one single startup from California the entire car industry had to change its perspective about the future of their brands. All of a sudden everyone is coming out with electric concepts. That’s just insane.
I think it’s bold to attribute that exclusively to Tesla.... what started the ball rolling was the 1990 CA law that required automakers to make and sell (or lease) electric vehicles to continue selling IC vehicles in the state. That made automakers consider a future with mass EV production. People wanted EVs before Tesla became mainstream too. Recall Nissan started the electric craze with their leaf, then Tesla merely compounded that frenzy two years later with the release of their model S. They certainly have presented a challenge to legacy manufacturers, but I think it’s ambitious to attribute them exclusively to the changing tides of an entire industry
Not only this single startup is forcing to ALL big car companies to change to EV (against their will) but also this single startup is already 5+ years ahead in hardware technology (custom chipset, battery, power train, charging network) and software (self driving + user interface). Tesla won't die any soon, they will just continue showing others the path to follow and will get fun on the way.
It is an impressive achievement in the modern age even though electric cars have been around since the 1830's. Just as relevant for other car makers going electric is emission regulations as they can be fined hundreds of millions of dollars if their collective co2 rate is too high with so many internal combustion engines in their lineup !.
“The only Tesla SUV is the Tesla Model X”. Don’t worry ladies and gents, the Model Y is only months away and will be starting at $40K. They’re coming for GM and Ford’s share of the SUV market. Be afraid GM. Be very afraid, lol.
MarLap2000 True, But in reality the Model Y will be just as capable a vehicle as an SUV and I believe it will be highly competitive with the RAV4, etc, except on price. But with the extra price of the Model Y comes a truckload of feature’s that the other SUVs can’t come even close to providing.
If Tesla could produce millions of cars per year, GM and Ford would go bankrupt. This Battery bottleneck is giving them time to make a transition. I'm not sure if they will make it in time!
Iconoclasticnation a crossover cannot compete with an SUV, they are two different types of vehicles. An SUV has a hitch, a large rear trunk, and a lot of cargo space, it’s also taller than the Model Y is. The Y is just a glorified model 3, nothing more

They probably shouldn't, battery price is still huge part of cars total price, and wherever you cut cost it will still be more expensive then its competitors, and basically only limiting factor for tesla to make more cars is how many batteries they can produce, so to sell "cheap" car on which they will have no profits at all or no one will buy them, and will take a bit of battery production from high end vehicles... nah it is too early for small/cheap ev
Yeah because everyone wants that sweet 1.1% of the EV market for the big bucks... so any semi-popular car company still sells more than 5x cars in 1 one month than Tesla sells in a year.

Tesla will always be the 1st "Ferrari" of electric cars. Due to Elon making a high end sportscar EV to start the company. You can't take that away from from him.
@Teringventje only coming out with the fastest production car ECBM. They are already the Ferrari of EV. Nobody was willing to take on the battle for EV as Tesla did. Hate all you want but Tesla is the king of EV.
@Teringventje Germany has an immigration problem to solve. They are replacing their ingenuity with Islam. At this pace they will never catch Tesla. Awww, Boeing tried to stop Tesla long ago, have a look now.
Elon = Enzo, they share 3/4 letters in their first names. What conclusion can you draw from this fact? Perhaps Elon is the reincarnation of Enzo Ferrari? Most definitely nes.
@Teringventje I think what he's referring to is that the brand recognition that Tesla has is similar to Ferrari's. Non-car people know what a Ferrari is, and Tesla is already that but for EVs.
NOW PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE ENTIRE WORLD - Not only the US. I now get why many Americans have such a narrow view on topics outside the US. On the European market for example, Tesla is having a tough start due to its competition (established brands e.g. Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, VW which dominate the upper end market) and a completely different customer behavior (e.g. focus on design and reputation. You can’t even try comparing a Mercedes and Tesla interior since MB outclasses them by miles). Plus, Teslas are more expensive in Europe, leading to the fact that for the price of a Model 3 you get a Mercedes E-Class or a BMW 5-Series which actually should be the competitors to the Model S. The Model X is priced so high that you can get a full specced Audi Q7 for the same price.

Short sellers don't realize 2 important factors.1- Legacy brands all sell wholesale to the dealer network , so they would need to sell twice as many cars to compete.2- tesla also sell solar & battery storage & charging network as part of there share price. The car manufacturers don't have this. The legacy brands would not only need electric vehicles to compete. They would also have to change there business model. Something people don't realise. Ford & GM are not competing against Electric vehicles, there competing against a different business model , in which they will fail unless they eliminate there dealer network. Bob lutz doesn't even realize this because he is yet to recognise this.
Like if tesla has made electric vehicle a commercial success.they r just a premium brand now, there self light year behind in making a model for every one to use.
@@MrAnonymousRandom Tesla recently has turned profits much more consistently than any other automakers EV, as most others EVs are loss leaders right now
Brand power is the main thing, driven by Musk and his vision (similar to Apple/Jobs). Another thing that comes to mind is that other manufacturers have tried electric cars before, but have mostly failed. I think due to this there is a mindset now that traditional manufacturing companies won't make good electric cars. In my mind it is because they don't have to as their main focus was/will be on ICE cars. Tesla only produces electric cars, so they have to succeed and will probably pour all their efforts into it (and they are).
No one has tried electric cars like their future depends on it. No company will commit to a product that barely has a 2% marketshare worldwide. The current automakers have more experience in production which is why they’re not making their cars in a tent... or having interior panels that mismatched. Look at what Porsche just did..they made an EV that has the ability to sustain its performance without overheating and cutting power like the model s does and they’re whiting 15 Miles of range within each other. If it came down to staying in business, we would have many great electric cars, but since EV market is barely at 2% worldwide.. no one really cares.
Tesla got ahead of the game when other manufacturers were shy to take electric cars seriously at all. They're now firmly planted in the minds of consumers as 'THE' electric car, everyone else are seen as imitators or a sub-standard alternative.
Few years back (8 -10 years), I was working in Los Angeles and many employees used to drive luxury cars and park in the building. Driving $100k car was very normal. One day a co-worker bought Tesla SUV and everyone seems very excited. In the afternoon, we all came to see it. We were kind of drooling after seeing the car. I haven't noticed same reaction for any other brand of cars.
Not a single automaker is in a real position to seriously challenge Tesla, for too many reasons that it is almost impossible to elicit them all. But here are the most crucial. 1- Tesla has at the start a price advantage of circa 25% because that is what cost the traditional automakers in between feeding their dealers and the mammoth amount of money they need to allocate for advertising and PR. 2- we can easily add another 5% price advantage because Tesla manufacture in house most of its major components, while the competition has to feed various suppliers. 3- Technologically Tesla is at least 7 years ahead of the closest competitor. 4- contents: from autonomous driving to electronic automatic updating, to extended supercharger network, and practically maintenance free cars Tesla has no competition from any of the challenger. 5- Batteries, Tesla builds his own batteries, which right now are the most performing of the planet, so the range and acceleration of its cars are far better than any competitor can propose. 6- Just to make a point of Tesla extremely competitive cars the model 3 sport has a 0 to 60 time of 3.2 seconds and cost only $57.000 while the new Roadster due out end of the current year has a 0 to 60 of I.9 seconds and a top price fully decked of $250.000 and with a top speed of over 250 MPH will crush any other mass produced car past or present, not only in overall performance but on the price itself giving a very serious blow to the most venerated name plates on the planet. 7- the nicest part of it all that gives his competitors the mortal blow? One can be having a special dinner in the romantic restaurant of his choice, pull his handy out and propose to the fantastic girl he is with to help him ordering his new Tesla in the color she mostly prefers. No dealers, no salesmen to annoy and pressure you, just inspirational. 8- I will be gracious and stop the long list right here. But the real problem for the competitors is that Tesla cars are designed and bought to production, not by old car industry luminaries, but by the best minds on the planet of Silicon Valley. They are extremely intelligent, young, born and raised with an handy, that will naturally build a car to marry with his tech world. But the Genius that leads them all does not like to leave anything shoddy or unfinished, and his very demanding perfection is naturally transferred to a product that probably is very many years ahead and I suspect too many for any rival to bridge the gap for the foreseeable future. Welcome Tesla to my senior world, it is with a vengeance that I took the time to cut short the grease monkeys for having nickle and dime me to death for all my life with their costly designed warranty service requirements and their shoddy flimsy high priced spare parts. The last thing I will do will be to buy a self driving Tesla to drive it up and down in front of the dealership that probably took from me more than he should have.
Tesla is agile, Tesla is David , others Goliath. the "competition" was so comfortable... Now, no more, Tesla has a factory in China, in a year a factory in Germany, and also a second one in USA for Cybertruck
and just in, the other one in Brazil, in 4 or 5 years you can buy a couple of those high priced ICE cars below $10.000 because most will be trying to sell them when people in numbers will be buying Tesla. The smart thing to do now is not sink a lot of money in ICE cars while waiting for the lower priced Tesla which we will be able to get within 3 years
@@sat7755 I have a 2017 Ford Fusion and that's the last IC car I will ever buy. My next car will be a Model Y next year. If I wait much longer, I will have to sell my car for 1/4 what I paid for it.
Don't belive the German factory will be ready in a Year. There a much regualtions and civil movements for environmental Protection, that will file lawsuits against the construction of the factory. It's an easy thing to see, really: Elon Musk is revolutionizing every technological industry as we speak - cars, softwares, engineering, energy and space industry. He's respected by his insight and enterprises - he represents the future. And the products he's putting out are absolutely fantastic. Shouldn't be worried one bit.
remember that in interviews Elon has said his main goal in starting an electric car company was to inspire people and traditional manufacturers to start getting away from combustion engines, and it's working like a charm. they're all just trying to catch up with tesla, and when they do, they all be right where he wanted them, mass producing electric cars

IMO, the main reasons for Tesla being dominant is: - Established automakers sell millions a month, EV sales is miniscule by comparison. - EV's have not been profitable for a long time. - consumer attitude to EV's have been difficult to read. My take is that big auto hoped 3rd parties would develop autonomous driving (Bosch), enough good batteries (LG, Panasonic), Motors (LG, Sony, Bosch) etc but they have been slower than anticipated, probably because of lack of large scale interest besides the Teslarati. As Tesla is now making it, big auto has started to ramp up. They are behind, but won't be in 10 years.

And it seems a bit cool, if you can buy a car from your home, rather than walking around several shop. Not to mention, the decrease in cost due to this model. In the electric market perhaps
Tesla delivers garbage quality.
The reason everyone is losing to Tesla is because they ignore the most important part of Tesla's
*Software*
Tesla is the "Apple" of Cars
Ppl tend to forget that Software alone is not only a BIG change but a HUGE Advantage
also their electric charging Network
Wrong, what is making Tesla win is the simple concept of batteries. Elon owns the mines.
Charging speed and charging network, more than range this is what differentiates Tesla from its rivals and deserved more coverage in the video.
And self driving. That's HUGE!
Non-Tesla car makers generally:
1. Ask double the price, give half the range!
2. Have no 'over-the-air' updates
3. Have very few high speed charging stations
4. Are about 3 to 5 years behind on autonomous driving
5. Have a tiny fan base, so have huge advertising costs
6. Have big shortages in selling old fashioned batteries: they do not own a battery factory like Tesla nor invest in battery innovation like Tesla
7. Think they are a hardware selling company with some software elements in it...
8. Should think they are a software company with some hardware elements in it.......(a car is simply stated: a phone on wheels)
As the CEO of VW mr. Herbert Diess said in an interview about Tesla: ' A big storm is coming...... '
Mercedes just fired 15.000 people....
Storm? Haha. More like low pressure area in pacific ocean that vanished even before it lands

Tesla's "competition" only makes Tesla look that much better.
Tesla's supposed competition isn't even competing on a full scale yet. Major automakers are deliberately taking their sweet time to transition.

Ford, VW, GM and co are all building out fast charging networks such as Electrify America and Ionity in Europe. So in the not too distant future the supercharger network will lose its importance. Autonomy isn't a huge deal for most people. Tesla's energy sector investment has resulted in literally zero gains apart from the a useless building that Tesla have branded the second Gigafactory. Vertical integration isn't entirely necessary particularly when you have massive and already fully developed supply chains. While other automakers want to challenge and compete with Tesla to become the Tesla killer, Tesla’s goal/ideology is to have zero emission of Co2. @@Anonymousplayer-vw4kj look at mercedes, bmw etc. these are one of the first big carmakers until today
You clearly know nothing about engineering of transportation..

Everyone has the same battery technology because thats how battery's work nowadays, the only reason Tesla is successful is because america's so big, you need massive ranges to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time. Ford forced themselves to call it that by publicly stating they were only going to build SUV’s and the Mustang going forward.

Tesla doesn’t have it won just yet. They need to make charging available to much of middle America and they need to be able to scale quickly and scale production to the point get their prices down to where they can have an economy range.

Elon wasn't the co founder of Tesla.
Are you joking? Literally everyone in norway has a Tesla and the UK and France have been racking up the numbers. Tesla also have a factory in Germany.

They can say they've made it by consistently turning a profit.

Sell and forget is teslas business model, what are you on about?
