      Yeah this business is no way is making this much. I love all of uppflips vids, but this one isn’t it. They do not have a good business model within this industry to be making that per month. They are essentially a mobile car wash, not true detailers. I can tell just by the little snipets of the techniques, washing processes, their mindsets and knowledge of the industry. These guys are the ones servicing price based shoppers, not the value based shoppers. For reference, I make 10k a month by myself, and my detailing business coach makes 60k a month by himself. With a team of 3 people, they should be WAY more ahead. They don’t mention anything about their clients either! Besides saying they are important (well duhhhhhh).. But not how they are truly making their lives easier and what specific problems they are solving. I don’t see them having a dominate role in the detailing industry, maybe local, but as soon as a more competent company comes in and establishes themselves, it’s game over. With this business model within the industry, they are quantity over quality, and have their head in the dirt any time a client asks them a specific detailing question, about protection, or knowledge of doing it themselves. In this industry, you have to be different to grow, your hard work is only part of it. All in all, I call BS on all of this, but also respect their hustle.
      If they did this with my coach, (which they should, look up visual pro detailing, or detail mentor, his detailing business classes/forums/coaching), and this would be a completely different video and out look on detailing as a profession and lifestyle. His Numbers and knowledge is insane, and it may make people rethink what the detailing industry truly is. He lives in the middle of a rural town in Missouri, and he grew an amazing business by himself. That’s respect and the content they need to focus on for this industry for people wanting to start. This just makes us look stupid.

    I think a kind of cool idea would be finding a company that is just starting out, interview them with similar questions such as, goals, money invested, equipment purchased and all then follow up with them in 6 months. see what they have done and how they've grown then another 6 months (1 year after starting) see where they're at and what they've done/changed. it could be like a little series. idk, it may not work but I think it would be cool to see a business start from nothing and see the progress.

      1. Insurance cost (Small Bussiness Insurance) $114/month (Truck Insurance) $145/month
      2. I spend an average of 5-10 minutes with each customer (2-3/day)
      3. I don't have any advertising cost. All my customers are word of mouth. I've spent $0 on advertising in 2 years of being in business. I have a Facebook page.(no website) Unless you want to count business cards? $45 bucks
      4. Transportation cost depends on the mileage I'm traveling for that week/month (Gas,truck payment,ect) Tool cost is roughly $3500 (I originally started the business with $500 and reinvested in better tools/equipment)
      5. Consumables Cost? Do you mean products cost?
      6. I don't remove anything from my truck. I have a truck bed cap to quip my equipment out of the elements. Only thing I do is add water to my 65 gallon tank every 3 days or so. (Depending on how many exteriors I do.
      7. Average travel time is 15 minutes
      8. 5 days a week. Monday-Friday 9am-6pm but I usually finish the jobs early. (2-3 cars a day)
      I don't have any employees yet. I just hired a book keeper to run QuickBooks. I have 2 accounts for my business (checking and savings) I know I should have more separate accounts for buying products/materials ect.
      I'm still learning the business side of it. I've been detailing professionally for 15 years (I'm on year 2 working for myself) I'm realizing it's 90% business 10% actual detailing.

      Don’t get business insurance to many starting companies think it’s a good idea to get business insurance after starting but really you don’t that’s how businesses don’t succeed because there wasting there money on ads and insurance and then they get burnt out thinking there business isn’t going anywhere and there stuck in that loop loosing money I would recommend building your name on google business page and get high ratings. If you messed up a detail or damaged something just pay out of pocket just be carful that’s why you have to educate yourself everyday to prevent damaging the interior or the exterior there’s good detailers that share good information to prevent bad detail work and stops you from losing money from damaging something

    30% profit margin is not accurate lol detailing is one of the highest profit margin industries. You should be making well over 100% profit and that’s lowwwwww. That’s why the industry is over saturated, it’s so easy to get into.

    • @Emmanuel-ne3oi
      @Emmanuel-ne3oi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @pablobigavelli863
      @pablobigavelli863 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you think when everyone wants to start a business they start detailing or car washing. It’s serviced based, so it’s about your ability to grind. The entry level equipment and products pay for themself on your first few cars. You use about $10 max of product on one vehicle & I’m being generous. When you start it’s all word of mouth & if you’re mobile there is basically no overhead. Do the math if you charge $100 for a full service which is low but you’re fresh in. You do 5 cars in your first month. What’s the profit margin? …. Now as you get more experience you get better equipment and supplies, market strategies/campaigns, scheduling systems & etc but your prices raise too. Where am I wrong at?

    • @Emmanuel-ne3oi
      @Emmanuel-ne3oi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pablobigavelli863 it's probably high margin but definitely not 100%. Insurance, employee pay (even it's one person company), supplies, transportation costs, etc. There's a lot of factors. It depends on the service offered as well. If you're just doing a basic wash, basic interior clean, and with basic tools you're probably higher margins. If you're offering waxing, decontamination, sealant, paint correction, etc the products start costing more assuming you're using the good stuff. Sure some of the stuff you can writeoff on taxes but it's still expenses. I wash my own cars and the stuff I use isn't cheap

"PPF" is Paint Protection Film. It's like the auto "bra's" of old but doesn't look like trash. Again, they don't cost much in comparison to what people charge to apply them. Most of these add ons are targeted to high end car owners with disposable income. SMD business model relies on high volume (100+ cars per month) to get to their number$. At 22 working days a month they need 5 cars a day to reach $35,000k.

    So this like the fourth video I have seen from this channel on people growing their little portable car wash hustle to well over six figures. Just to make people realize, this is not typical in the least. For all of you teenagers out there looking to get mega rich quick and skip college or drop out of high school to start "washing cars", you should really think long and hard about that decision. Ever heard the saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Never a more true statement, especially when applied to this subject. Stay in school and get an education. You'll thank yourselves when you're older.

    Good luck to all mobile car wash/detailing businesses out there. It's like any other industry with potential to grow and make profit but at the same time it only becomes profitable if you put in the effort. Do your research, think long term, think about water conservation and sustainability. Before you start consider weather aspects, local laws & requirements. These numbers discussed in this interview and inflated and could be misleading. The interview was still good to watch though. Let's be realistic and communicate the right information. Peace!

    Why are people willing to pay 350-450 dollars for a full clean of the car when you can drive like 5 minutes to the closest mall and get a full wash at a detailer shop for 100-150? Idk... Just seems like this would fit for high end customers only. help med understand haha
