This one hits seriously close to home for me. My little sister is severely mentally and physically handicapped because of an accident when she was 5 months old. My dad fell with her and the way he fell she hit her head hard on something. She nearly died and has had lifelong difficulty. She's also an inspiration to everyone she meets and everybody loves her. My dad never forgave himself, his legs were shot by that point he ended up having one amputated due to diabetes years later. The doctor the state hired in court tried to say he couldn't have fallen and caused that damage. The difference is my dad really didn't do it like that, my mom and I were both there, I was too small to remember but my mom knew, but dad had to fight for YEARS to prove he didn't hurt his baby. We weren't allowed to see him for almost a year. Thankfully the truth showed through, And my sister has had as good a life as she possibly could have given the circumstances. She's hilarious and puts a smile on everyone she meets.
Edit: I am astounded at the amount of feedback this got, thankyou so much to everyone who commented and shared your own stories. To those who decided to be rude or immature, I wish you well and hope you're never in a similar situation. To everyone else, I hope you all have a joyous holiday and a wonderful new year!

And I bet the difference also is, your dad felt awful about it. I've noticed in actual abusers, they will act not only like there are just all these series of accidents, but that zero apology is required for them. If I fell with a baby in my arms I'd be kicking myself, and telling my partner how bad i felt and please forgive -- no matter how much I know I didn't mean to. It's human nature. Sociopaths have a hard time replicating that kind of response.

That's bc most likely it's a lie and something happened which is rare and perhaps baby has a vitamin defect which makes babies bones soft. That happens more often than some realize. Idk. I don't know this man did this. I just don't. Only watched a tiny bit so far but so many times Drs have said something and it turns out a baby has a defect or bone disorder which causes injuries to be much greater than they should be. Like parents changing their child's diaper a leg gets broken. Stuff like that.
We never truly know the circumstances or what happened so I try not to judge too harshly before knowing exactly.... None of us ever knows when something insane and extremely awful could happen to one of us none of us expects and I'd hope we were heard if so.
Now I just heard him say he has a fainting disorder... That makes me a little less believing what he's saying.

I feel lots of these type things happen especially with siblings carrying little ones down steps, just because they do not have the natural instincts to secure before accidents can happen such as hold tight one hand, and hold rail to stabilize with other, or never wear socks on steps while holding any weight. Those instincts develop after one falls down steps growing up, and as an adult, thus kids do not fully comprehend all the things that potentially could go wrong yet. I'm not saying that they wouldn't sacrifice themselves to save the infant, but I'm talking about precautions taken so the chances are low you want trip over edges or protrusions, or slip with feet or grip on baby. Precautions are taken more seriously because of a potential disaster.

I just see him as beung adament about his innocence. There are plenty of cases like this in which the medical examiners get the cause of death wrong in young children. Its not that i beleive he is totally innocent. Its just that there are soo many variables in this case that there is room for reasonable doubt. From the 7 children who couldve harmed the baby to him falling down the steps with the baby. Its not far fetched that he truly doesnt know what caused the baby's death.

To be fair though, every other crime channel - especially one's to do with criminal psychology - often point out that angry suspects are angry usually because they believe that they're innocent (or they actually are innocent).
It's the one's who don't get angry that are usually guilty (as they know what they did so don't get mad trying to defend themselves as much).
Despite him being found guilty, to me at least, I think he may actually be telling the truth... mostly.
Either way though, the child died in his care, so he should be guilty of at least negligence/child endangerment.

A lot of times, there are situations where CPS or law enforcement can't do anything, then those neighbors/friends/family/witnesses end up getting their good intentions turned around on them, and it ends up hurting said witness. If you call and report that you found a body, YOU'RE the first person the cops are going to deem a suspect 🤷🏻‍♀️ Who TF wants to go through that? I'm not saying those are good reasons, but we're all only human, and some people are apathetic enough to not want their world shaken up over a stranger.

I reported my neighbours for child abuse because they were beating their toddler.
Mom was beating her guy in FRONT of the kid. They constantly were having loudass parties and the kid never went to kindergarden.
Once we contacted authorities because the kid was left alone all day, crying in the locked apartment and banging on the doors, they made OUR life hell.
Our bikes got stolen, we got their friends threaten us with bodily harm if we don't "stop meddlin".
Even the first night when we moved in, we asked them to turn the music down, just a little bit, because we were exhausted.
What did they do?? Start shit and the first thing they ask is "where you from" as it it matters.
We never told them our nationalities, because it was very clearly an attempt to pull up racially prejudiced shit.

From moving as well as I had 2 other kids that I was taking care of while moving. Next thing I know my baby is on the floor. I immediately rushed to the hospital. Thinking. Oh my God, hes hurt, hes hurt, hes hurt, hes hurt, hes hurt. When I got there, they asked me how far he had fallen. And I told them and they said, oh, that's no big deal. You would be surprised at how strong little babies are. I still demanded that they do every test possible. To make sure nothing had happened, and thankfully, he was fine and dandy. The amount of guilt that I felt on the ride to that hospital. I cannot even put into words how I felt. I was crying and I was praying. I was talking to my baby in the back seat. But I’m sure to some degree he was scared it would fall back on him. As it already has. And I honestly don’t know that those other 8 children in that house were not involved. I fell down the stairs with my baby in my hand and my immediate thought was to tuck my baby making sure myself got any and all impact. I was in utter pain but I hurt most thinking my child could possibly have been hurt.. thank goodness she was unharmed! I took baby to hospital who was happy as Larry I declined help for myself just wanted to bring my happy healthy baby home. I would put myself in front of any child to prevent injury caused too them not walk away because of feeling uncomfortably uncomfortable, you helped fail that poor baby. This disrespect cowardly monster was accused of seriously injuring a child yet all these mothers left their most precious with him. It’s incomprehensible!

If people will commit a horrible act and feel like they did no wrong, why is it so hard for them to just come out and say what they did!!!??? Why keep sitting there going around the mountain and have the detectives be like pulling really deep teeth, asking question after question to try and get to the truth. It’s absolutely so frustrating to see and hear how people will lie and lie and then is truly later found to be 100% guilty. I don’t want to understand their mindset. My heart goes out to the lost baby and the parents, grandparents , aunties, uncles and friends of the baby.

Someone who can kill a baby has no problem lying.

Because they still believe they can get out of it. Even after being in prison for years and years! Guilty people will still keep saying they're "Innocent" when they aren't! In hopes they will still get out of prison somehow. It's really petty and just shows how horrible of a person they are.

Using another person's story of being found innocent after being convicted is not an excuse to back up your claim of innocence. And stop using F to complete a word ending with TH!!!!!

The story he was talking about is actually a HORRIBLE one. The medical examiner did lie about the father abusing the baby. It was heartbreaking, he wasn't allowed to go to the funeral or anything. All he got was an apology from the DA.

I can't believe how these 2 Detectives allow the criminal to yell over them when they are talking, also showing no respect !

I have fallen twice while carrying small children. Once when my oldest son was a newborn I fell going up the stairs if I hadn't put my elbow out his head would have slammed the stairs with my weight against it, instead I bruised my elbow, but baby was fine. With the second child I tripped over the edge of the sidewalk, again that instinct to PROTECT the child kicked in and my elbow jumped into action. In that incident I sustained a concrete burn to the arm and knee. Once again the child sustained ZERO injuries... WTH is wrong with people?
