So entertaining Steve and Lyndsey, I’ve tried a few of the chocolates, I do like the green and blacks. I laughed my head off at Steve being high on sugar, I felt sorry for Lyndsey, as she will have a ‘high Steve’ on her hands with Sophia. Great video!
Green and blacks 57% with ginger is so good
James Cadbury is the great great grandson of James Cadbury who founded Cadbury. James’s products are ethically sourced.
Hmm I'm not sure that's the case since kraft took it over around 15 years ago.
Mmm, wow, mmm. wow...two pieces of chocolate in and we are scraping Steve off the ceiling as he is as high as a kite! 😃🪁
lol
😂 y'all know by now! lol
James Cadbury is from the famous Cadbury family but isn't in the Cadbury company, the last Cadbury family member stepped down from the board in 1996, he has started his own Chocolate company
I call these "Adult Chocolates" as only adults appreciate how good they truly are. where as kids are just as happy with your everyday chocolate bars.
haha, that's very true!
With each brick of Chocolate Steve is getting more hyper and he is very vocal with his mmmmmms and wows and not forgetting his oh my goodness. He makes my smile. Lindsey is a little more reserved but still vocal. Plus the more excited Steve get the more Lindsey laughs. It’s a fun to see. Keep up guys. But by the end of the show they were both on a high sugar rush. Love this couple great show.
❤️
Haha Steve’s off his Barnett in this one . Chocolate is Steve’s drug of choice 😂
I love you Lindsay! The look on your face when Steve goes off on one is PRICELESS. Your giggle is so infectious. Best thing Steve ever did to include you on this channel. Thank you both for all the laughs. Nana Karen UK x❤
Steve would be great on a game show.
Thank you, Karen! ❤️
Kernow (pronounced Kerr-no) is the name for Cornwall in the Cornish language and you see the name used everywhere along with the St Pirren flag (which is the Cornish flag) all over the place when you’re in Cornwall. An absolutely beautiful place where I spent around a decade living.
Best place in the world. Posted from the small town of Redruth. :)
I was brung up in Padstow, Newquay and Indian Queens, although I’m not Cornish. father was based at RAF St Mawgan.
Absolutely agree it's a stunning place I use to go to Polperro most years, utterly gorgeous Cornwall and Devon
How are they doing in reviving the language?
* St. Piran.
Sorry for the pedantic correction but I get corrected regularly by “the Nigel’s” myself even though I’ve been in Cornwall since ‘99.
Linzi! You know what to do now when you want a little respite from Steve. Supply him with loads of the mint chocolate.😂😂
hahah, don't give her any ideas! :)
Green and Black are mostly known for their dark chocolate 70%, 80% etc. A bit of an acquired taste.
Kernow pronounced ker-no, it is what the Cornish call Cornwall.
Ah okay! Thanks for the tip. :) We had no idea
I love how you got sillier and gigglier when the sugar kicked in lol
Green & Blacks do a boxed set of miniatures which is a good gift to receive.
I have not seen it for a while, but my favourite Green and Black chocolate was the Maya Gold. It was dark chocolate with orange, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Apparently, a square of dark chocolate per day is good for heart health...as if I needed an excuse 😂😂
It's good for cramps too
Watching Steve chomping away is breaking my heart. Place it on the roof of your mouth, move your tongue over it, and let it melt. Experience it, don't just consume it.
I know! Take time to fully enjoy it. I think he's on too much of a sugar high to take time lol
And with TEA
lol….agree! But if he let every piece melt we’d be here for hrs haha😂
@@juliedowning7782 Editing.🙂
Agreed!
Imagine going back to eating Reese’s ‘chocolate’, after trying all this lovely chocolate! 😂😂😂
Yeah...hasn't happened 😂 We're ruined--or enlightened.
I absolutely adore Green and Blacks chocolate, I had a heart attack a few years ago and high cocoa dark chocolate is something I'm allowed and theirs is easily the best.
Have to admit though that Kernow chocolate looked amazing.
I love it too, but the 84% is a bit too strong but I keep trying 😂
Kernow is the Cornish name for Cornwall, this from a proper Cornish maid. Kernow chocolate is fab.
Dark chocolate contains theobromine as well as caffeine. Theobromine gives you a "buzz".
Are you not sick of chocolate yet 😂
Love your tee shirt Lindsey ❤ we’re going to see the Foo fighters in concert today 🎉
Oh, lucky you, we saw them last week in Glasgow , they were fantastic, enjoy xxx
My son is going to see them in Birmingham
Ah, enjoy! Hope you had a great time--I bet it was an awesome show. 'The Pretender' is one of Lindsay's favorite songs.
And sick of chocolate? I don't think we'll ever be. 😂
@@reactingtomyroots The foo’s were absolutely AWESOME 🤩 had the most amazing night as always when in their company! I think this was the 9th time seeing them!
Lindsay, the pretender is also one of my favourites! It’s fricken amazing live 🤘😝
I wouldn’t get sick of chocolate either 😂 xx
Before I even start watching, I want to say Lindsay's smile always makes the day brighter.
❤️
I'm a big Green &Blacks fan. Laughing here as Steve chomps his way through the variety of choc.
The best way to enjoy chocolate is to eat it at room temperature and put a piece in your mouth. Push it to the roof of your mouth and let it melt. Chocolate is designed to be consumed at 'body temperature' without crunching 😂. Love you guys. You make me smile. Lindsay, you are si laid back and calm. Steve is do excitable 😂.
Talk about giggly!! I'm not just talking about you two. I used up a fistful of tissues laughing at this video! It's 19 Celsius here in the Cotswolds and I have every window open for the cool breeze, so presumably my neighbours are going to think I've lost my marbles, (an English expression for losing your mind - but not in a nasty way). 😂😂😂
This is making me hungry for some chocolate, going to raid the cupboard for a piece or two of Lindt's 70% dark chocolate.
Green & Blacks is pretty fancy, they was a small company and then Cadbury bought them. They are still owned by Cadbury/Mondelez. So they are a more widely available posh chocolate. Usually about £2.50 a bar vs Cadbury being about £1. They do taster selection packs with anywhere from 6 to about a dozen different flavours in to sample
If Hershey ever start making chocolate and not whatever it is they make at the moment (tastes really nasty to our UK palates) then things will be better in the US!
We get Herseys in the U.K. and most are truly disgusting. The plain milk chocolate bar was passable
Hersheys tastes of vomit.
I once had Hersheys milk chocolate and thought it tasted of vomit. Never again. Dark is passable.
@@stuartjenkinson7374 That's because it contains butyric acid. It is known almost everywhere else in the world to taste of vomit, but Americans are raised on it and like it. Once they have tasted REAL chocolate though.... :P
@@ChrisGBusby ah that explains it. Thanks for the info. It really was unpleasant.
Green & Blacks is like what I call "posh" chocolate as it is more expensive but real high quality. It like Thornton's on roids basically.
Hopefully not haemorrhoids... 🙂
Thornton’s used to be very good but it’s completely different now and full of cheap ingredients to get it down to supermarket prices. It’s a shame but they didn’t keep with the times.
@@Millennial_Mancthey’re awful nowadays, I’d rather go to hotel chocolat
White chocolate is so different because it's not made with Coco solids but Coco butter. And there is a variety that is actually green as well.
Sugar gives you a high, then a crash, Lyndsey crashes very quickly😂 It's all the lovely laughing that wears her out .. such a joy to watch them both appreciate the choccies. I'm off to buy a bar now😊 💖🇬🇧🙋♀️
Cadburys is our go to cheap chocolate, about 1-50 - 2 quid, which is really good. This artisinal stuff is priced form about 3 quid upwards (to under ten quid usually) but as you can tell is worth the premium.
I’ll be popping to the shop this afternoon to get some green and blacks haha I’ve seen it on the shelves but never bought it as it’s more expensive, but I’ll be giving it a try! 😂
I’m glad you like our Cornish chocolate
Yummy , yummy , yummy . If i buy a good quality artisan chocolate i make it last as long as possible couple of pieces at a time with my cuppa 😊.
GIn and tonic doesn't mean that the chocolate necessarily contains alcohol. The chocolate may just be flavored with juniper berry extract and quinine. One thing you may want to look into is the non-acoholic gins being produced. These are for making non alcoholic drinks for us poor people who, for various reasons, can't drink much alcohol (if any at all) but want more adult flavours than usual mocktails. They are non alcoholic brews (less than 0.5% of alcohol) made with the same botanicals used for gin.
I occasionally buy zero-alcohol beer, stout and cider as I like the boozy taste but alcohol doesn't suit me.
I've just googled kernow chocolates and they have a ton of different varieties!
Perhaps have a few days with no chocolate first though....Steve needs to come down off his sugar high and Lindsay needs to sleep hers off! 😂
Never heard so many mmms from you guys ;->
LINDSEY! We can all see your face when you make innuendos.
You two are very cute 🤣🤣🤣
😂 she's not very good at masking her internal thoughts, is she?
I would say it doesn't matter if every bar is a ten each is judged on your criteria. In our RHS flower show many get Golds, Silver Guilts, Silver etc. if they're ten they're ten. I think we're spoilt over hear with our range of chocolate flavours
Cornwall is a beautiful part of England 🏴
Hi guys I hope you are well and thank you for your content. Sending love from the UK
I was watching thinking something different & I realised you've worked out to revert ya camera now 😄
You now should swap seats! We used to seeing ya the other way round 😉
At least uk Map is right now❤
🎉🎉🎉. You lucky thing's.
You two are hilarious. It’s a joy watching you. ❤❤😊
❤️
Re the Butterscotch one,C&G do a Burnt Toffee one that's even better (though fewer shops seem to stock it,sadly)🎩
Steve and Lindsey when it comes to dark chocolate, for me it should have no added sugar - 85% cocoa mass is where I sit, as I like to taste the cocoa melt in my mouth.
If I can't get my favorite (MoseRothe from Aldi) the Green and Black 85% is where I go
My favourite is Choceur rum raisin and nut from Aldi. Sadly it disappeared off the shelves about a year ago. Lidl do one that's very similar but the chocolate is just a tad more waxy. My next favourite is the salted caramel dark chocolate from Aldi. Very different from each other which is why I used to buy them both together so I could choose to suit my mood.
Cornwall is just the most beautiful place in England. I love visiting Kernow, and it's worth every mile of the drive from S. Wales.
It really is , I love the fishing villages Mevagissey, penzance , St Ives. Beautiful 😊
Yesss my favourites are back ❤❤
Have you tried Cadbury's "Old Jamaica". Rum and Raisin. Like you, I don't like dark chocolate, but this works.
Same, i dont like dark chocolate, but like old Jamaica, its not as bitter
Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan, let me rock you Chaka Khan, let me rock you, 'cause it's all I want to do, let me rock you Chaka Khan 'cause I feel for you (slightly paraphrased). Grandmaster Flash/Melle Mel is one of the OG rappers, though it's a Chaka Khan song.
Melle Mel and Grandmaster Flash are two different people, but both are members of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and Melle Mel is sometimes called Grandmaster Melle Mel.
Lindsay , you mentioned that eating sugar makes you feel tired, I was like that for years , it turns out that I am type 2 diabetic , so sugar is no longer an option for me , but when I could eat chocolate I loved Greens and Black dark chocolate with orange and Terry''s Chocolate Orange , greetings from Wales
Love from Cornwall! It's pronounced "Ker-No". Much love to the family.
I love green & and blacks but they discontinued my favourite flavour which was cherry. Dark cheery pieces in dark chocolate. My favourite Chocolate now is Bournville's Old Jamaica which dark rum flavoured Chocolate with raisins steeped in rum.
Oh, the Best.
I have never been able to eat a whole bar in 2 days. Normally takes me 4/5 as the chocolate is too lovely to dispose of in a short space of time, i like to savour it 😂.
I admire your constraint.I don't buy sweets or chocolate after being diagnosed with 41% heart functionality but I'd love some now and then but I'm wary of things with a lot of sugar
I love chocolate, but I limit it to 1 square a day. I put it in my mouth, run my tongue over it, savouring it. A piece of chocolate will last a couple of minutes, the taste is so intense.
So much fun watching you guys get your chocolate buzz on - Mrs Doubtfire lol
The G&B Milk IS quite high in Cocoa Solids for a Mil chocolate compared to most milk chocolate (look on the wrappers for cocoa solids percentage...the higher the darker the chocolate)🎩
I have Green & Blacks chocolate 72% & 85%, because I don't have an OFF switch and because of the bitterness, I find it easier to limit the amount I eat.
Uh oh! You're only about half way through and Steve's starting to sing a bit! It'll be a full musical recital by the time you've finished all that chocolate!
Love you guys!
Nothing funnier than Steve getting hugh on his sugar
Lindsay, there’s a home made sweet that’s very expensive to buy because of the work involved, but my Mum used to make Chocolate Coated Orange Peel. Mum worked all day to make it, and if she didn’t give us one piece each, we would have consumed the entire jar in ten minutes!
I would strongly recommend the ranch video on your other channel. . I made it yesterday and it was delicious. Thank you
Can't deal with the raw egg. Otherwise, it looks delicious.
So happy to hear you tried it and enjoyed it, Sarah! :) Thanks
When you visit the UK, visit Cocoa Black in Peebles, in the Scottish Borders, it is owned by a master chocolatier called Ruth. She does truffle making classes, which I took a group of unpaid carers to this year. She explained all about chocolate, and was a fascinating lesson...plus we made about 50-60 truffles (3 different types).
Really enjoyed your video on some great chocolates. I've now got a craving to eat some chocolates of my own lol 🍫😋
Great video. The founder of love cocoa James Cadbury is John Cadburys great grandson . There is a TH-cam video of him on dragons den
That was so good. Dark chocolate orange and mint are soo good, (my favourites anyway) but each to your own.
Hope you recover soon!😂
Hi guys, meant to say. If you have plain dark chocolate left over, it works brilliantly in chilli. Say 4 squares in a big pot, stirred in say 5mins before serving. They use dark chocolate in a lot of savoury food in Mexico.
Can’t believe you’re doing this without a cuppa 😂 my mouth would be dryyy
I used to belong to the chocolate tasting club in uk . Each month a box of new chocolates made by artisans would arrive at my door I would judge each one on taste texture etc. The best would be made for the public. Very expensive chocolates I must add. I could never afford to buy them.
Just love you guys!
Willie's Cacao is worth trying as premium chocolate at a reasonable price. The white chocolate has no vanilla with less sugar than typical and provides a more pure flavour of the milk and unbleached cocoa butter.
Great video 👍 It would be no surprise if the gift shop puts out a aroma of a chocolate smell 😊
I am a basic girl love Cadbury chocolate but not fan of the more posh chocolate lol to rich for me 😂 it’s like wines and teas lots of different coco beans and different depths
I'm from Cheshire, which has some lovely spots, but Cornwall is just on another level. About 15 years back, we were at Trebarwith Strand, and after a cracking day on the beach, my car decided to give up on me. No worries, I thought, I'll just give the AA a bell. But guess what? Neither of our phones had any signal. There was this ancient phone box on the way back to the beach. It was in a right state, all the little glass windows were smashed, and it was covered in rust.
I was like, "No way that thing's gonna work," but lo and behold, it did! An hour later, we were back on the road. I remember thinking, "This is probably the most beautiful place in the world to have a car breakdown." 😂
Green and Black's was bought by Cadbury's in 2005 so is now owned by Mondelez.
Hey guys!
Steve, now that is a haircut! ( Tips hat ), ahhahaha! 😂😂
The best haircut ever, and we could practically be brothers as I always shave my head these days as well as having a goatee or short beard!, lol! 😂
Isn't it so much easier to just wake up and your hair is already done because the problem of brushing it has gone?, ahhahaha! 😂😂
Always lovely to see linseys ( Hope I spelt her name correctly? ) Wonderful smile.
I do like some of these more ' fancier ' chocolates, as long as they aren't dark chocolate as I'm not a fan of that.
The only problem is, they tend to be thinner that othet chocolate bars, lol! 😂
My favourite has to be a milk chocolate with full hazelnut pieces in it, so tasty!
A great video as always guys.
Have a fantastic day, take care.
Ooh the good stuff!
I grew up in Frome and there was a sign in the train station telling people how to pronounce it 😅
Today's show is brought to you by the letter mmmmmMMMMMMmmmmm. 😅
😂😂
You guys should try Prestat's 'Tea Time Frolics' chocolate bar with Earl Grey and Lemon Oil. Amazing! (Prestat is the Royal chocolatier in London).
I’m usually given Green and Blacks for Christmas as a box of different flavoured mini bars. My favourite is the butterscotch followed by the sea salt. The 70 and 80% are usually the last to be eaten
Hello from the UK, another great review. Over here if it says honey, then there's honey in there or the manufacturer would have to say honey flavoured.
You should try the chocolate from Cocoa Mountain based in Durness at the northern tip of Scotland. Truly stunning, and they do the most amazing hot chocolate you'll ever have.
It is just such a joy to watch your reviews. I think my cheeks ache from smiling so much! 🥰 I love pavlova pudding so much, I'm not surprised you like the chocolate. UK artisan chocolates are SO good I have to say. Green and Blacks ... oh yes please (and not good for Jo's figure - I just ❤ chocolate)!
Much love to you, Joanne! ❤️
@@reactingtomyroots ...and to you because you two and Sophia are such a caring family. Thank you for starting your second channel because it gives us a chance to see the reverse viewpoint - i.e. American life which we can view as outsiders (a British person in my case). US life really is VERY different from UK life in so many ways (and I've been to the US a few times). We share a common language (...ish!) but so many things ARE different! That's what makes your channel interesting. You just comment as normal US people on what you see and what you think of us and our life. It's also nice to see the other side too ❤ Jo x
I don't know why it is, especially as Ibam a Londoner, so neither frim Scotland nor Cornwall, but I've noticed that both placenames end in "ow" which you Americans pronounced like "ow" to rhyme with "_now_" (as in Moscow) !!
But here in the UK we pronounce Glasgow (in Scotland) as "Glaz_go" and Kernow (in Cornwall) as "Ker_no" 😊
("Have I given you a clue?" ...
"Gee... Thanks Baloo...!!" 😊)
To European (and Australian) tastes, American chocolate can taste a bit disgusting, and here's why: "Butyric acid is a compound found in milk products and is also present in rancid butter and vomit, which is why it might evoke a "sick" taste association. Some American chocolate manufacturers add butyric acid during production to give the chocolate a longer shelf life." Since Cadbury chocolate in the US is produced by Hershey, it suffers from the same issues. I love seeing how you react to 'proper' chocolate, and I'd also love to see the two of you go to town in one of our Australian 'home-grown' artisan chocolate shops, using native ingredients and flavours like lemon myrtle, wattle seed and pepper berry.
I’m off to the corner shop to get some right now after watching this
DID YOU KNOW O GRACE IS SANG BY BOBBY SANDS GRANDDAUGHTER , ERIN SANDS . IF YOU DONT KNOW WHO BOBBY SANDS IS YOUR NOT IRISH . ITS A MUSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT WATCH.
Glad to see your sheer enjoyment of our tastier chocolates from your UK fans
Edit: Personally I've found Green & Blacks a bit of a hit or miss, in that some of their chocolates are amazing and others are a bit meh (but that's my personal opinion).
Edit 1: If you let Sophia try those, I hope she also loves them.
Edit 2: To be fair from what I've head Hersheys refused to allow Cadbury's import directly and forced them to allow Hershey's to make Cadbury's under license.
Ok
I’m halfway through watching, and placing bets with myself on Steve breaking into song😀
My Great Great Grandfather was a chocolatier in the 1850s, in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
Montezuma chocolate is delicious the 100% dark so good their white hot chocolate shavings are just freakin' heaven, also hotel chocolat does thee most amazing velvetiser hot chocolates and the flavours they have well it makes you want to drink hot chocolate every day
Hi Steve and Lindsay, I noticed you guys received a box of Yorkshire Biscuit brew tea. This is absolutely lovely and possibly my wife's and my favourite tea. Lyndsay may love it because it tastes like 'Malted milk biscuits'... The clue is in the name 'Malted' as I know she loves 'Maltesers' The taste may be familiar. You don't need sugar as it is very slightly sweetened. So you have a lovely cup of tea with a hint if Malted milk... delicious! Enjoy guys and I hope to catch your reactions on it very soon
Stay well and give our love to Sophia ❤❤❤
Thank you, Robert! We'll tell her you say hello :)
Green and blacks is the only white chocolate that I actually like, all the green and blacks flavours are lovely
Kernow Chocolate is really very good - the Honeycomb, the Salted Caramel and the Dark bars are my favourites. I'm not a white chocolate fan, but I've heard that it's also very good, creamy and caramel-y from others who like that stuff - I like more chocolate in my chocolate!
Green & Blacks was bought out by a larger company, and discontinued a lot of great chocolate bars. Cherry Dark was the best flavour, but they don't make it any more 😢, and the same goes for the Toffee Dark bar. Their Maya Gold is a classic flavour that's still around, which has orange and spices in it. I haven't tried it recently to see if the quality has been affected.
Kernow pronounced KERNO.
Love this, good luck Lindsay Steve's on a sugar rush so funny 😂
Information: are you aware that you have a sharp echo in the audio of your Vlog. I do enjoy your vlogs, so please understand this is not a complaint just an informative communique.
'mmm...' ..... 'mmmm....' ..... 'mmmmm....' ........ thats good.
Frome is in Somerset.
You guys need to try some dark chocolate cherry liqueurs. I always treat myself to a box of them at Christmas time. They are delicious.
the cocoa content in uk chocolate is usually a lot higher especially green and blacks across the range which is quite a few.
its very naughty you tasting chocolate without including little lady
