Awesome and well organized video! You are a beautiful talented artist for sure =) Sororities are the best and videos like these will help others be successful.
Thank you so much for your compliments, I really appreciate it coming from you!!! 😅 I really enjoyed making this video, and hope that female bettas will get more and more exposed as their male counterpart, they are so much fun to watch ❤
Love your videos very education. I been keeping fish tanks every since 1990. Betta are beautiful fish easy care of . I always had Betta in ponds because of they color and nature. Just know that Betta has small stomach so a pinch of food is enough for them other than that I love your videos 🙏
Hey thanks for your comment! I too have been keeping fish since a little girl, love these guys so much that I refuse to eat fish altogether 😅. Agree on food, less for betta for sure, they would eat anything and everything! Bettaolympics coming soon, why not join?
@@AquascapeArtVideossure I will join because I know how to care for Betta fish. Over the years I help others people as well. Betta are beautiful majestic fish. And from the 90s to this day I never stop keeping betta fish. I love them hopefully one day I can show you my Betta fish my friend 🙏
I had success with 10 in a 60 gallon, or roughly 245 litre, tank with dirt and tons of plants. It was mainly a huge bunch of red _Alternanthera reineckii_ with one large Amazon sword, several species of _Cryptocoryne_ (lutea, spiralis, parva, wendtii), _Crinum thaianum_ (onion lily), _Nymphaea stellata_ (pink lily) and _zenkeri_ (red tiger lotus), plus lots of Java ferns and TONS of different Anubias. I recommend buying your female bettas from the same shop or source all at once. Let them form their hierárchy the first day. Introducing any bettas later will be bad and cruel to the new ones, because they’re automatically the lowest caste, lol. It’s also better to buy and introduce the sorority the same day, as then you’re helping save more from the cup life at the store 😔 But as far as the tank itself, it’s important to buy them all together… then float the bags to acclimate temperature SEPÁRATELY. I like to go one step further when floating fish bags, by wrapping a black plastic bag around the bag with the fish. Having darkness is beneficial for them to calm down while they’re adjusting temperatures. If all the other fish are visible, it can cause more stress. Or if you already have fish in the tank, they’ll be curious and it could stress the bettas while they’re floating. So the darkness helps… There’s just no way to buy bettas, or any aggressive/semi-aggressive fish, on SEPARATE DAYS and expect it to work easily. Buying them all at once is how they figure out the sorority pecking order and hierárchy right away. If you introduce a new fish later, it’s going to be good for some of your current fish, because the focus will be off of them somewhat! 😂 But the new fish becomes the lowest of the low. Like, the lowest caste of that makes sense. It will likely struggle to find food without being bossed around, and may just die of stress.. of course, the ones you have together will nip each other too, but because it’s the same day you’re doing it, it’s a little less intense over time. There will always be a “queen”, usually a beautiful and vibrant one. Just how it goes. No one wik cine for her, because she’s naturally confident and they know better. The others will all boss each other around and get bossed by the queen… but the queen will likely not be threatened, and if she is, she’s ready to defend herself. fish too, including a school of neon tetras, one large angelfish, a harlequin rasbora school, several kuhli loaches on the bottom (both gray and striped ones), albino corydoras, otocinclus, clown pleco… what else?! lol.

I originally wanted 15 in a 55-gallon, but learned larger koi betta would bully the more standard sized ones, so I left the larger koi with rasboras and rainbow praecox as dither fish and yoyos and corydoras out of the way on the bottom. I had 7 moved to a 29-gallon with neons, white clouds, dwarf frogs and corys. I had one die from a wound that didn't heal and another from too much fin damage. Before that, I removed a more aggressive one and added her to the koi betta tank where she behaved herself but wasn't bullied. Bettas aren't a "set it and forget it fish." It's sad that fish that are so responsive to people are so insensitive to each other.
Yes!! Malaysia has the perfect climate for outdoor pond, I would say just watch out for predators like big birds, cats, frogs, rats or monitor lizards 😅
Beautiful sorority you have, i love the white dumbo with blue fins. I am wanting to try a sorority soon. I have a local shop that gets young koi female bettas in every other week that i think are sisters as they are all very small and have similar patterns/colors and the same with dumbo ear bettas too so i think getting them will be perfect. My tank is 60cm x 40cm base but I'm thinking i might sell it and buy even larger as my stand can hold up to 90cm aquarium. I will try 7 betta, 4/5 koi 2/3 dumbo :) thanks for your advice video. But i have a question, do you notice any difference in lifespan of sorority bettas vs keeping them alone?
Thank you so much! And yes the blues are so beautiful, but tbh I’m smitten with most of the colours 😅. Bigger tank sounds great - mine is currently 60cm for 1 male betta and a group of ember tetras, if I were to keep females I would go much bigger. To answer to your question around lifespan, so far they I notice that they are shorter than males, my longest running female is nearly 2yo. I cannot draw any conclusion weather this is due to being in a sorority or genetic makeup. Interesting question you raised there and I will start gathering the data! ❤
@@AquascapeArtVideos thanks for your reply :) I heard somewhere the stress can shorten their lifespan. (I think from another youtuber), which is why I was wondering. If it's any use to the statistic I kept a koi female with shrimp & she lived for about 2 years
that betta on the leaf under the sun was someting near pure poetry
Such a gorgeous pond! Thanks for all the tips, I'll try this out when I have enough plant cover. 😍

i have betta bully can you give me more tips pls?
I live in Malaysia, so is it okay to keep them outdoors?
Yes!! Malaysia has the perfect climate for outdoor pond, I would say just watch out for predators like big birds, cats, frogs, rats or monitor lizards 😅
What about all babies?
Are you sure 5 female bettas can fit in 10 gallon tank? Maybe im missing something T-T
Go for no less than 15, 30 is average
5 in a 29 is close to the max for me even with heavy plants and decor. The more space they have the less they feel the need to fight for it.
What a palm like tree that can go underwater?
