Lister Stationary Engine - SR1 Reverse Rotation 7.75BHP - Jan 2016 - Do you need a big silencer?

Experimenting with an exhaust silencer that is nothing more than a tube with a suitably sized hole in the end. You don't actually need a full blown silencer as I fitted - by the way its a Land Rover Series rear silencer that I have fitted. The trick is to fit a pipe with the end blanked off and a hole of appropriate diameter drilled into the blank. Too small and it will obviously restrict power, too large and its like its not doing anything. You will be surprised just how small the hole can be to quieten down the engine. My engine was not under any load of course so that needs to be taken into account
