The chorus is in Crimean Tatar language in a style of their traditional lullaby and it says "I couldn't live my youth there because you took my peace away". Jamala's grate-grandmother was deported with her children and she lost a daughter during a long transportation to Kirgizia in horrible conditions in cars for cattle. And the worst part was that she wasn't even allowed to bury her daughter, who was just thrown away by guards from the moving train.

But Turkish and Tataric are same language, different accents.
