In this video, Anthony Sequeira covers Cisco's FabricPath technology. Follow along and learn how to remove spanning tree protocol functionality from a Nexus 7000 and replace it with FabricPath, then go and deliver the best aspects of both Layer 2 and Layer 3 to your own data center.
This micro nugget was developed to deliver practical experience for anyone working on their DCUFI. Anthony connects directly to a Nexus 7000 and configures it to interact with a downstream Nexus 5000 via Cisco's FabricPath. This is the data center equivalent of rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty. You won't watch any cables get run or floorboards get pulled up, but you can follow along and watch trunk links get configured. The connection between an upstream Nexus 7000 and a downstream 5000 is usually going to be running STP by default, but sometimes you just have to rip it out and replace it with FabricPath.

Thank you Anthony, your training is excellent as always!
Thanks Anthony you help me.......... as always
Thank you very much Anthony for this video tour - one small question, when you run command #show fabricpath isis adjacency , why do we only see 4 interfaces ( e1/11-14), why dont we see e1/11-18 ?
please clarify...
thanks once again :-)
I too wonder why it's only showing 4 interfaces instead of 8 since you used the entire 8 range interface command.
my guess is interface e1/15-18 is connected into different device, since when spanning is active not as root bridge (before changes the priority), interface e1/15-18 is in forwarding state, it should be in blocking state if it's connected to the same device without port channel, correct me if im wrong :)
@@dzulfiqaralghifari4694 thanks!!! That is quite logical
Can wo do fabric path to two or more links connecting to a server chasi? or do a teaming will always be a best pracitce?
