I myself record it directly at the piano. I have a rather expensive epiano, so the sound is quite good.
I myself just amplify the sound a bit with Audacity after the recording.
I would recommend a VST if you have the possibility to connect your piano to the PC. It requires some power though.
There are some to buy, but also free. For a start, I would recommend free ones, so you don't spend money unnecessarily. Afterwards you can still buy one.
The best way to do this is to watch a tutorial on how to install a VST. 😊
