Mushishi Medley - Original Soundtracks on Piano

- This was extremely fun to work on, as well as the first time I arranged by ear. An extremely special and earnest thanks to my friend Tim for giving me a week of his time to record AND edit this video. The entire medley took many many hours crammed into five days and little sleep but was so worth it once everything came together.
Mushishi is a show about Mushi, an almost spiritual form of life that governs the workings and phenomena of nature. The show centers around a man named Ginko, able to see and understand the actions of the Mushi as well as the consequence of man's actions intertwining each other. The show has almost a ghastly and lucid yet calming and soothing soundtrack, and through editing and arrangement, both I and Tim aimed to recreate the same tone as the series. The video hand selects a few of these beautiful soundtracks of the many that hopefully I plan to cover more of in another medley series depending on the reactions for this video.
In regards to the future of this channel, I really enjoyed being able to create my own arrangements by ear. I'm planning on making a medley for Sangatsu no Lion, my favorite show of all time. Nonetheless, I'll still play other people's arrangements, such as Navarone Boo's (Incredible Performer) and DH's (Incredible composer and arranger) in my free time.

be serious, this anime change my way of thinking about life. it took me more in direction of shintobhuddism and animism and im very, very happy for this change. this anime should be used as education. i never see a other show so deeply like mushishi. either the music. im glad i can this listen till my end comes.
Wow, this is absolutely stunning! Mushishi is my favorite anime of all time, and as a music nerd, the soundtrack is something that I could gush about for hours. You captured the unique atmosphere perfectly with your playing, I loved the way you arranged everything and I am definitely going to revisit this 🥰🎹

I love this. Mushishi is my favorite anime of all time and you sure did justice to the music. I've only just started to learn to play the piano but I hope to play these songs as well as you do one day. Until then I'll keep revisiting this video.

@@MadPianoLife Oh I feel like that would be asking too much of you. As I've said I've only just begun this journey lol. But if you don't mind then. I tried transcribing part of Fude no Umi by watching which keys you were hitting but I only got halfway.

Finally finished the first season and then rewatched your medley and was even more impressed with the authenticity of your playing! Too bad the mushi sound effect is not reproducible on the piano 😄. Do any of these themes return in the second season?
I actually believe the library expands in the second season! The same aura is still carried over nonetheless.

What a beautiful Medley
I haven't watch Mushishi, but saw some pictures and read the synopsis once or twice on MAL. Honestly, I think you really nailed it. I love the eeriness, yet brightness in your playing. Kinda feels like walking through a dense forest and ray of lights shining upon you, really great.
My favorites of your Medley must be Hitoyobashi and Fude no Umi, would have downloaded the sheets right away if they were available ;)

Fude no Umi was probably my favorite. Felt so powerful on piano. And thank you for the really thoughtful comment as always.
Forgot to mention the closing style for the song was influenced by Piano Deuss as well. Went a bit harder on emotional playing there.
2:20 gave me old vibes of japanese anime. got chills

Your medley makes me watch this anime, jsut the sake of the sooundtracks. It has very similiar music taste like in "The Promised Neverland", kind of mystery and adventure. Also, love the sound of your piano, I have very similiar one but it's out of tune 🙄
I agree, but unlike other shows, Mushishi soundtracks are very peaceful. I love that about them.
