Beautiful car inside and out. My father-in-law had one exactly like this except soft Inca gold instead of the red and all white interior (including the dash). I got to drive it often and loved it. Totally restored and really turned heads. The '57 is a true American icon!

I bought my 1957 TB last year from a wonderful man named Norm in Corvallis Oregon. Her name is Etta James, He loved her and so do I, just wish I could get her out of the garage more often. Looking forward to some sunshine so my man and I can take her and His 1970 GTX he bought brand new and had to park her in the garage for the last 36 years, something about the gas type, Anyway my son in law machanic changed her oils and gas and she is up and ready to run!! I may ask if he wants to race me and Etta, except I don't like loosing and neither does he! Sydne and Walt

The early 2000’s they did try to bring it back. Just was not a success, unfortunately. I tried to get behind the wheel of the retro bird, luckily it was a convertible as the top frame of the windshield was at my eye level. 😩

This 57 T-Bird is an absolute jewel. She's a winner and she's stunningly gorgeous. Cudos to the restoration shop. What a fabulous job! Hard to believe a 1957 Ford Thunderbird could be bought for around $3,300.00 right from the dealer when they were brand new. This car sure is a time capsule. Love it!

They are great ! $ 3,300 was ALOT back then. They were expensive. I have a '57 black with white top and black and white interior. Mine is in need of paint but the interior is great. Mine is an almost daily driver. No rust anywhere so I don't drive if it's going to rain. I also have an incredibly rare accessory that was sold back in the day which is a Parade Bar. It's a stainless bar that goes between the top mounting holes on the back. There are little seats that snap on to it so that 2 people can sit on the back for parades. These cars are very fun to drive.

The '57 Thunderbird was my first "car crush" back when I was a kid. As I got older and turned out to be built like a linebacker, I started to realize that the little two seater probably wouldn't be the most practical of vehicles for me. I've had my eye on full-sized cars since, but this video really reminded me just how much I wanted one of these years and years ago.

Being a Boomer born in '50, the first iteration of the Tbird was and is a big part of my childhood. It was the car all of the guys in my age group worshipped. It was sleek, beautiful, compact and powerful. Thus, it represented the new world of the 1950s: Jet aircraft, TV, a sped-up way of life, and the clean, beautiful styling Detroit could then pull off.
Of course, when Ford migrated to the four-door layout, it forever Enshrined the 55-57 phase as the ultimate Tbird.
This car will Always be Top Dog in the American post-war automobile design phase....

Wow, Lou, you did it again. Brought back another great memory. My older brother had a buddy who had a new '55 red T-bird and asked me (at age 8) if I'd like to take a ride with him in it. Duh. What a ride it was! I'll never forget that day, nor the thrill it brought. I agree, though, that the '57 was the pick of the litter. Thanks again for bringing another great car to our attention, Lou! --Jim

I am so happy for George. His T Bird is beautiful and is the perfect color. I love the chrome rims. It looked like he had A/C when you opened the hood but that was not covered. It would have been a perfect story if you would have included removing the hardtop. I give you and George props for taking the top off. The engine chrome package really made his super clean engine bay pop.
I like the 55 56 and 57 T Birds, however, I love the 61-63 and the 64-66 Birds. In some ways it's apples and oranges.

I've seen a lot of these, at least 50, because I have been looking, this is the nicest I have ever seen. Love the engine - it's a rare bird and a really knowledgeable owner. My Dad took us to Sacramento to watch a Stock Car Race back in 1957-8. The Official Pace Car was a
SHINY RED T-BIRD. Very glamorous car for a Pace Car. It must have been a very rough track because you could
see bits of shiny chrome actually jiggling around on the car. Then you could see where pieces finally fell off.
So much for Ford Quality is JOB ONE. Dad sold British Cars part-time so this was quite hilarious to him.

I had an AMT model kit back in the early 60's that was a 1957 T Bird. It also had accessories to modify the front end, streamlining it to 60's standards. Meanwhile the original T Bird concept changed and grew larger. I was fascinated in 2002 when Ford brought back the Thunderbird in it's original configuration using the early 60's AMT kit. The '57 here with spoked wheels from a '58 is acceptable to me. This car is primo. Aftermarket or OEM is good as long as it goes with the period. $omeday, I'll own one of these beauties from either generation. With a back-up camera.

@@loucostabile This is one big piece of car eye-candy. I didn't see any T Birds at the Woodward Dream Cruise this year. Hopefully they're not just a dream. I saw a somewhat- restored '55 or '56 in the parking lot of my workplace (Windsor Assembly Plant) a few years ago. It was white, low, and not very big, but it was still the coolest car in the illegal parking.

Beautiful car that is well presented. Car is not wearing '55 period black plates. 1955 was the last year for black plates before they reversed to black on yellow. They were a slightly wider format than next generation black plates reintroduced in 1963 and the character were spaced in groups of three (2G 4 620). These plates have a set of three letters on left and three numbers on the right that is from the second issue in 1963, honest mistake. Today you can get black plates as a vanity option but there is a subtle difference.

Lou: the optional engine wasn't the 312 as the owner stated. That engine was the standard one for that year of the t-bird.
The optional engine was the same displacement at
    312 cu in,but had dual 4bbl
carbs, high lift cam and a dual ignition points distributor and of course dual exhaust system.
The engine produced approx 280-300 HP and the car was known as the
"Battle bird" which raced extensively at Daytona Speedway in the late 50's.
I know this because of a good friend of mine who was factory trained Ford mechanic, so I always got the latest info. The owner should be proud of his car as it's a real gem, when American cars were real cars. I would think an American would be proud of ownership of this wonderful t-bird.

I hate to be the 800-lb. gorilla in the room, but it seems Paul is wrong on this, Lou. According to multiple sources, a 212 h.p 292 cu. in. V-8 was the standard engine, with variations of the 312 cu. in. motor all the way up to 300 h.p. with a McCulloch Variable Ratio Supercharger. Here's a link to more info: automotivemileposts.com/tbird/tbird1957engines.html

According to Wikipedia: The Thunderbird was revised for 1957 with a reshaped front bumper, a larger grille and tailfins, and larger tail lamps. The instrument panel, based on thel '56 Fords dash, was heavily re-styled with round gauges in a single pod, and the rear of the car was lengthened, allowing the spare tire to be positioned back in the trunk. The 312 cu in (5.1 L) V8 became the Thunderbird's standard engine, and now produced 245 horsepower (183 kW). Other, even more powerful versions of the 312 cu in (5.1 L) V8 were available including one with two four-barrel Holley carburetors and another with a Paxton supercharger delivering 300 horsepower (220 kW).
