- This is week 17 of our year out. This week we spent 3 days staying with friends in the beautiful Cornish town of St Ives on the far south west coast of Cornwall. Here is how we spent our 3 days. At the end of the video we talk through the bits we really loved about St Ives and some of things we found a little frustrating.
Best bits :
1) The town is beautiful and typically Cornish. It has a great vibe . You could spend all week there and not have to get back in the car .
2) There are 4 beaches all with a different vibe - Surfing beach- Porthmeor beach , Children friendly beach - Porthgwidden beach . Bamaluz beach - great for open water swimming and we saw a seal. Porthminster beach a great long beach with beautiful white sands
3) Walks and there are plenty.. We liked the Carbis bay Walk - A fab 45 min easy stroll to Carbis bay and the Godivry beach at the end of the St Ives bay - A car ride away but great for surfing, dog walks and pebble stacking.
5) Minack theatre - A must visit. 45 mins from St Ives . A theatre perched on the cliffs overlooking the spectacular panorama of Porthcurno bay. The story of the Minack is a tale of vision, dedication and hard graft of an extraordinary woman, Rowena Cade. There are performances most evenings.
6) Porthcurno beach - One of the most beautiful beaches in the world . Blu/ green seas, white sands , well protected.
7) Night life - We loved to walk post dinner around the streets to the beaches with the dogs. Lots of Restaurant and pubs - We liked the Talay restaurant (Thai food ) overlooking the harbour front - Superb good value food with a cocktail bar down below . Again lots of great pubs but the Sloop Inn was a favourite , a traditional pub on the wharf with good outdoor seating. We also found a Jazz bar on Fore street which had fab cocktails and live music.
Negatives
1) Parking especially in peak season is difficult - You may need to park and ride
2) Dog walking - Many beaches are closed off to dogs from May to September
Thanks to Claire and Roger for a brilliant few days

Last week and we were 3 days , very beautiful place 😍😍😍We loved St Ives ❤
It is such a beautiful place . Glad you enjoyed your stay . Did you get to see the Minack theatre ? any recommendations for places to eat ?
Highly recommend parking up at the park and ride at St Erth train station. Then catch the branch line train direct into St Ives. On a nice sunny day sit back relax on one of the most beautiful train rides you will take. In the peak summer months its a no brainer, this takes the stress out of driving around endlessly trying to park up. Great video, glad you enjoyed my home county.
Thanks for the tips! .
What a lovely place ! Greatings from the Czech republic.
It certainly is . Thanks for watching
Could't find the link for the drone 🙂.

@@AYearOut thanks
Born and lived there for 20 ish years before I moved away, too many holiday makers, its overrun. Not a nice place to live due to that.
That is so sad . We visited in April so was relatively quiet but could imagine how busy and congested it would get in the summer . We would like to move closer to the sea but it’s finding somewhere that is a small town that has a community in and out of season and not too busy in peak season . Thanks for your comments it’s great to get a locals perspective
Three days? Three hours would be too much for me.
It is a beautiful place but probably off season is the best to enjoy all that it has to offer 😁
