Why might a plaintiff's employment attorney value a case lower than defense counsel would?

    Hi Vince.
Why do attorneys always sue for way more then a case is worth or that the defense will ever agree to? For instance a discrimination/employment case were the plaintiff is suing for $20 million. Where do theses amounts come from

So attorneys who are sort of new to working with the press will do that sometimes to get attention for their case. The issue is an article spurred by that kind of tactic will generally suck and be very short and will generally not be widely syndicated. Better off to have relationships with press professionals who you do right by and who, in turn, do right by your clients. This takes work, and many plaintiff's attorneys are allergic to work so, many opt to instead say, "We are suing for 30 billionty" and look like an absolute fool.

I have a question because I’m waiting to see if the Dept of Human Rights is going to grant me a hearing… will my former employer want to settle before finding out if I’m awarded a hearing? They have 60 days to settle or wait to see if I’m given a hearing and if I’m not granted a hearing can my former employer drop his atty? I have an atty but he’s just looking to settle. Will he wait to see if a judge grants 😅😅 don’t get a hearing?

    Hi!
What would you do if your employer (and labor union) gave you the runaround with paying you owed back wages including overtime --but not a large amount? We're talking about under $1,000.00. What's a reasonable timeframe to allow them to resolve the matter? It's been 8 weeks. Thanks!
    PS In NYC.

I would contact the NYS Department of Labor and I made a video on the channel as a walk through. Their wage enforcement folks will collect for you free of charge.

Do you handle matters of employment defamation if you lost your job? attorneys are saying employment law but or if the court agrees to it hear it do you represent those clients?

Generally no, we do not take on many defamation cases related to employment law. Just a few very rare and specific cases.
