There's a lot to love about this video. Radio fun with other radio nerds is the best thing ever.

People always ask me "Why?" and this is a good reason.

I'm just starting out so I am learning right now but this is my favorite channel to watch. It's all the fun and excitement that I was thinking it would be.
I know I have a lot to learn but the more I learn the more I want to know.

Welcome aboard! I try to make it look approachable and fun. There is an equal amount of headaches and fun if you're doing it right. Be sure to join TOADs discord and hang out with us on weekends at Coffee and Ham Radios. There are no stupid questions!

Ham radio seems to be useless while traveling.
I made a trip through NC, VA, TN and looked up at least twelve 2 Meter and 6 Meter noted the tones as listed.
I was unable to make any contacts, couldn't bring up several of the repeaters using the listed tones over the 5 days.
I even called several times on 146.520 and 52.525 and received no responses.
    Sad!

I found that 52 is active around bigger cities (more people in general means more hams). HF is what's gonna get me out of a jam in the countryside with no cell service.

@@temporarilyoffline I have aways had 2M and 6M VHF with me over the prior 30 years and used many phone patches prior to Cell phones. Seems like few people are active on repeaters anymore.

Unfortunately Jason is out of stock on the antennas currently.

I know he's working on it.

Only reason I knew that quickly was because I had just looked at the page. And, yes, I know. I was impressed. My G90 just arrived yesterday. Now I need to arrange power and antenna.

He's got a waiting list. It is a great antenna. I was hearing all over the world with it sitting 3ft off the ground last night.

So, that was the new antenna for the FT8- off? Nice. I'm looking at a Cobra Ultra Lite (sp?) For a home installation. Basically over spec for the base so that later I can have the G90 be a mobile setup.

Yes, that was the one I used on last nights FT8OFF. I also used it on the last 3 POTAs I did with good results.
