Hello Daniel. I bought a cello, violin and viola from you back in Cincinnati. I’m still playing my bass. So happy to see you still working as a luthier
A great part of the "cheap guitar journey" is learning to adjust the truss, lower the saddle, cut the nut, find the high frets and lower them, filing the sharp frets. A year ago I was clueless. Now I can whip one into shape pretty fast. Here is a video to make: what you need and links to buy for a good setup. 40USD is plenty I think, a touch more if you want the nut files ($35) but the torch cleaners do work. You did not mention the most interesting thing about that guitar: it's a 12 fret! What nobody explains to beginners: 12 vs 14 fret is huge, scale length is huge. String spacing is huge. Radisu is huge. And to avoid injury you want several varieties, especially if you are going to play enough to make music, and as you age. Back in the UKKK...oh yeah!!! Must be an invigorating contrast :) Were you waiting for Starmer? I wish Corbyn had made it LOL
Yes, I think i've done videos on set up tools a while back - I should revisit it. Yes, enjoying life back in the UK - glad to see the back of the Tories for a while.

1/2 a wet sponge is very cheap at a Dollar Tree or WalMart and a cheap case is easy to get used. Humidifying a guitar is easy and cheap to do.
Very true, I've made many of them over the years.
