I love my Lightning Wyvern. I was new to Ark and it was the first day they made them breedable and my friend called me over and I walked in the door just as her egg hatched. “Grab her, quick!” he yelled. I was panicking, but that’s how I got my Azure Marie. I’m yet to finish off The Isle, but I look forward to finally reaching Scorched Earth and doing my first trench run, legitimately of course. Hoping to find her a mate to bring back to the main base on The Isle where we play. When she hatched, it was the end of a very sad day in my life, and she’s become my #1 Dino, already up to 214 as well. She’s an absolute Airbus to turn, but always good for a laugh to sneak out of base and blast her lightning off over the bay to scare my friend who isn’t expecting the sound... especially when the stale puns roll out of the oven, it’s a perfect punishment! Favorite mount so far, my thyla being a very close second!
Phlinger I don't know if you're familiar with Neebs Gaming, but one of their guys, Thick44, went about acquiring a wyvern egg with a decoy bird escort. As soon as he grabbed the egg and aggro'd the adult wyverns in the area, he set the decoy bird entourage to aggressive and they swarmed the attacking wyverns so he could get away.
Great advice about the gas masks Phlinger, absolute must have on the poisons. My first wyvern was a poison and I died three times in the blow back from it's gas attack before I retired it and got a fire wyvern!!!

for cluster servers like servers that has all the maps, genesis included, use a crystal wyvern to snatch the regular wyvern egg on scorched earth or ragnarock. due to the smaller size of a crystal wyvern and their speed, they can get away faster. though it is the same rodeo when doing crystal wyvern taking crystal wyvern eggs like it is with regular wyvern taking regular wyvern eggs. same speed of the same type of wyvern results in them not getting off your tail quickly
I tamed a iguanadon on ragnarokand basically pumped movement speed in it where i was faster than wyverns and when i grabbed the eggs from dragonamalt trench i could easily out run them and just get away. May not be the best way but it is effective
If you have access to Extinction, my favorite ride for stealing eggs is a managarmr. Once you're able to dive and land directly on the nest, which takes some getting use to, getting away with the egg is so easy.
Manas are a pain to land in nests with, as you can probably see in his video where he uses them with the Phoo Phighters to get Rock Drakes on Aberration. They work, but there is a high chance to lose your mana. Just use a ptera the first time.
I never said it was easy, only that manas are my favorite tames to do it once you master the landing part. But yeah, at first, I came close to land in the lava a few times. But it's also part of the fun! :D
easiest way to get egg: 1) find a decent griffin (100+) 2) build a standard wooden flier trap: 3 dino gateways and 2 doors 3) trap griffin using ptera or even on foot and knock out with regular tranq arrows (or whatever) 4) feed prime meat - kill a low level bronto with a raptor or carno (again low level tames) 5) pump stamina in the griffin for a bit 6) then grab egg, fly straight up and dive when the wyverns get near you, using speed boost to get far away - you're safe.
Never had a poison, but between fire and lightning I'd advise fire for your first wyvern since they are the easiest to use since they have burn and a cone shaped breath weapon, making it easy to hit and more forgiving for poor tracking, also good for cc and fighting fast, small, or agile dinos or players.
I remember my first wyvern egg run. It was pretty easy.... Mostly because I rocked up with a flock of murder argentavis and murdered everything in sight 🤣
I just made a tank of am argent and placed a decent saddle on her. Then just killed everything. I you bounce between sprint and normal you stay just inside of the wyverns turn radius. Was surprisingly easy
What we did for scorched earth was get an Argi go to the trench take the egg book it and instead of killing an alpha or knocking out a female to get milk we got a bunch of deodons and had them heal it constantly till it was full grown and could eat meat
While having all these things is very helpful, you don’t really need it if you’re just getting eggs. What i do is i take absolutely nothing except for a high level pteranodon with a lot of stamina pumped into it. Then i would go in and try to find the eggs and avoid all of the wyverns. If one started following me, i would dash non stop into an area with trees that they could get stuck on. When i stole an egg i wouldn’t even look at how many wyverns are following me i would leave as fast as i could into some trees and keep going and turning until i ran out of stamina and hope i didn’t get destroyed by wyverns.
thank you so much! i died a lot of times the first time attempting to steal an egg. i had a turret shooting the wyverns and a procoptodon with 10 k health so i could jump away. i shot the wyerns and the turret killed one after each other. but there were like 50 wyverns in one area and at one point they killed me. i had some beds at the trench so i respawned. then i attempted to save my argy who was around but a poison wyvern destroyed the outlet of the generator and the turret didnt shoot anymore. i died. i tried again. i died. then i waited, spawned, soultrapped the argy and became speedy as hell getting out with the procoptodon. this worked, but i didnt get a wyvern egg. (yes, i am playing with mods. s+, super spyglass, ultra stacks, soultraps and bridges)
It is possible, with a little luck and fancy flying, to pick it up with a decently leveled argent. There is a canyon not very far from the scar that you can fly into and the wyvern will get stuck. It’s not terribly hard, but does require an argent with decent stamina and health. I tried it on poison and fire wyverns and it was easy. Poison wyverns can’t hit moving targets, and it’s not too hard to time the fire breath and fly underneath it and avoid all damage. Lightning wyverns are much harder. I do not recommend trying this against a lightning wyvern.
A PT with 500 Stam Can easily get An Egg on Rag, You might lose the PT once you run out of Stam, what I do Is go above the water, Only An inch above and drop down, Either they lose agro or It gains Stam and I hop back on

(i wana build something cool around a zone like... a town center home xD)

In a lot of other tutorial videos I've watched, people use like 10 air conditioners for incubating the egg, and you've shown that heating the egg works. Just very confused on whether I need to be heating or cooling the egg for incubation.
Sometimes, wyvern will re-aggro on you and even raid your base just to get that egg back. While on Valguero, I found a max level Ice Wyvern egg and took it back to base, the mother of that egg literally killed me after some time when I was trying to incubate the egg. Was able to kill it thankfully
most of the time, i just use a snow owl ngl its OP for all of your needs but sometimes a rock drake is best for stealing eggs cuz they can climb surfaces and also go invisible so no aggro.
If you want to cheese it, take a sarco or frog into the wyvern cave on rag and swim for it! LOL. Bring along some grappling hooks and lazarus chowder and go for it.

If your on a cluster and want to get a egg and have a drake already just go camo right after and you’ll be able to get out with out anything getting on you
Hi Phlinger, will they eat from the trough when grown? I had two that were at 96% with owl healed health almost full, so I logged out thinking they would just eat from trough when grown, but found later, they both starved.
The other day i had managed to get a lightning wyvern egg and hatched and raised it then i went out flying (this was on ragnarok single player) and had landed a bit to regain some stamina then a few seconds later after i took off the game crashed and then when i booted it my world back up my wyvern was gone and i fell straight to the ground and died so rip toothless never managed to find her after they
It's part of the game mechanics, so you sort of have to accept it as a fact of life. Just like we accept the accelerated water loss from water containers on Scorched Earth.
lol I find this so much easier on ASA. Sometimes there’s barely any wyvs there and usually more eggs. I’m playing ASE now and there were barely any eggs but a ton of wyvs and I’m playing single player so it’s not like somebody grabbed them already lol

Dont forget your jerboa to notice if a sand storm is gonna happen. Trust me it is not fun when you grab an egg and run and a sandstorm happens.

I was playing on rag and a wyvern followed me all the way to like viking bay even though it was not in my render distance
If you are on ragnorock you can go high up with a griffin and dive to get away as you can probably tank a few hits

If you grind enough lvl and ressources, I rather go for 3-4 autoturrets near the trench for the first and following eggs. Worked like a charm for me
For getting the egg, I just take an argie, upgrade its melee so its incredibly strong, and go in the ragnarok caves and reck everything
easiest way to get egg:

I set up a minigun turret just outside the wyvern trench and gunned them down. Took tons of ammo but I could be a little picky with my egg.
If you move an egg from your inventory to your dino's inventory, any wyverns nearby have a chance to aggro.

I just hatched 2 150 Argy male and female for the boost and then went on a wyvern hunting spree. Just took my time to take the egg home. lol

Air cons work both ways, they are more like hat pumps irl in that they both heat and cool too balance the temp.

5-10 Wyvern? Try 50-100, should be a lot closer to what lurks down there!

Wyverns are my most favorite tames. However rock drake was pretty close and the carcha.
Why not the oviraptor method? On follow, it will pick the egg up for you and it won't agro the wyverns.

It's cheap and the vessels for storing drop all over the map on scorched, so it's totally viable to maintain a supply.

If you guys don’t have easy access to wyvern milk then just use a snow owl and whenever the babies get hungry and start dying heal them with the owl.

I don’t think it does, just feed it what it needs when it wants imprint, or cryo it then throw it back out and it will want something else
I got lucky with my Wyvern, he didn’t need any milk so now I have some for the other ones I have
1st wyvern I tamed I named BBQ was an ember wyvern on Crystal Isles
lol I find this so much easier on ASA. Sometimes there’s barely any wyvs there and usually more eggs. I’m playing ASE now and there were barely any eggs but a ton of wyvs and I’m playing single player so it’s not like somebody grabbed them already lol
if you have a female wyvern and tranq her will she have milk because I get the feeling thats an easy way to farm it

On the island you can’t find them but you can transfer from other servers
If the eggs spawn In a nest can't you build a stone wall/structure around the nest? in other words wall off the alcove of the nest.
@LazyBanditGaming, I don’t think so. There are some weird restrictions on where you can build in regards to obelisks and trenches..
Man i didnt even consider how much i miss that in game map from ASE. Everytime I hit M in ASA now, im gonna be a sad panda... Unless it exists still and im just ignorant.
