Heath Robinson was an oft used phrase when I was a child, my dad was always coming up with gadgets to ‘fix’ stuff 😂

Interesting. Tower a caravan since 1976 never having a problem with basis drain down of leaving all taps and drain valves open whilst towing home from site. Then, leaving all opened all year round when in storage and never had a problem. A friend failed to do this a couple of winters ago and pipes to shower spilt costing £750 to remove shower and repair. OK full pipes are a different matter to residual water but being safe to be sure leaves me thinking of using an old pump connection as shown and make my own.
Had a Halfords Tyre inflated (old style) for years and easily take can tree to 62psi and don't see a problem using it to Floe recommended 15psi.

Over fifteen years of caravanning I’ve done the same as you and just done a simple drain down at the end of the season and used Puri Sol and we’ve had no problems. I did get a Floe system as Christmas present but have never used it so I was interested in your video findings. I’ve recently bought a new pump and I wanted a pump that would plug into the mains as well as twelve volts. I purchased an Halfords Advanced tyre pressure pump and I have found it really good. I keep my van at home so being able to plug into the mains is really easy, it pumps to 150 PSI which is good for high pressure caravan tyres, mine are 65 PSI so I’m pleased so far.

Thanks for the honest comments, as caravaners we are sometimes gullible to the marketing of certain products, they make us think we need it but more often than not we don't. Regarding drain down I do exactly the same as you.
I could almost see my caravan in your video, next time you are there, give mine a clean 😂😂. I have also bought items from your shop, last year I sent a guy to you from Silverstone F1 as he had forgot his Solar panel.

Great video, I also made up my draindown kit like you but I also get it up to pressure and open the yellow drain tap, that would be lowest point on the system as well as all the internal taps, also although I set pressure at 15psi I release air through all taps just before the compesser would stop so I do not have to keep popping out to start it again.

Thanks very useful & relevant 🤗
In the past however, whenever I've left sites I've always left the drain valve open and let gravity do the rest.
However, I too tried the *Floe* a few weeks ago but got no water came out ? 🤔
I've now left all the taps open in the mid point whilst the van is in store on the drive.
I will have another go again ...

Like the video, Think I'll have a go at making one👍the water you could tell was still there but wouldn't exit , would possibly have gone if you'd pressurised and then opened up the main drain valve?? That's in the floe instructions. Like you though I wouldn't do it as a drain down more as part of a cleaning routine 😃

I am going to try releasing the drain valve next time I use it rather than the taps, gravity and pressure might get a little more out!

"The risks of freezing are quite minimal" - I would normally agree until in Spain this year on day one I found 2 tap fittings had blown which must have been caused by the very cold spell last December. I am not taking the risk again.

Been caravaning since 1985 always leave a site with the drain and taps open and never had a problem. It's only recently I've heard of this method, after watching your video and the results I think it's pretty pointless.

Great video 👍 Interestingly I wonder if it would make more sense to drain the system backwards? With a low psi it won't necessarily vaporise H2O to push it all uphill?
Would need to make something to go over the taps (maybe like one of those old bath shower 'thingys'.
But I honestly didn't think there would be that much water still in there, I always assumed that after a heavy drive back from site, any remaining water would work its way out.

Interesting findings, I don't think I'd go out and buy the Floe kit given that you can create your own for considerably less as you have done....We tend to use our van all year round so going to this extent is pretty pointless, however if you are a fair weather 'vanner then maybe it would be worth doing, but maybe more from a hygiene stand point.
