Corey Ellis actually taking a stroke for a faulty basket is one of the more pathetic displays of rule enforcement. Added nothing beneficial to the sport with that precedent. Benefit goes to the player he made the putt, just sad
I still don't understand how with the video footage this wasn't able to be reviewed and counted as a made putt, to rest in the basket or not, if the basket isn't regulated to catch the disc fully, you cannot be stroked for a putt that would otherwise have stayed in the basket
@@erakfishfishfish It's the same with any other rule enforcement. They use spotters and if there's no spotters available they use the other players on the cart. Don't see how enforcing this rule or not is any different from tracking OB.
The Corey Ellis putt debacle was because the basket was actually damaged, a spot bent enough for a disc to fall through. It never should have been on the course. Ellis didn't "break" the basket, nor did he do any "magic" on it. This was all known in thr days after it happened.
3:35 I had this happen to me at a tournament earlier this year. One of my card mates wasn’t aware of the rule change and didn’t believe me when I told him it counted.
come one. very clearly that disc hit chains and fell in the basket. If it hits chains and somehow falls out of the basket.....just give him the stroke back, that makes no sense. There couldn't be a more clear example of a basket that needs to be designed better.
McBeths disc stuck in the basket on hole 5 at Ledgestone would now count. The rule says "supported by the basket" unless that rule has very recently changed and I don't know
Seems like someone who makes discgolf content should know the rules. Or if you choose not to look up the rules at least don’t make comments about rules you don’t know are true.
One time I hit the flag on top of the basket and it fell straight through the top of the cage and into the basket. My friend told me it technically didn't count, but I told him I'm taking it I dont care.
Your friend is wrong. As long as the cage or chains support the disc, it counts as a completed hole. There’s nothing in the rules that say a disc that goes through the top of the basket doesn’t count.
McBeth has two -18 under rounds Waco and Toboggan. Whats stupid is neither one is in the top three rated rounds ever. He has the top two but im pretty sure those two rounds aren't rated 1 or 2...what??!
some courses are harder than others...it would take a -20 or so to have an 1100 rated round at my home course. i know that the waco round was soft on par, they changed it 2? strokes the next year.
@@markmcgarity what's wild is when he shot that -18 at Waco all the talk was about him and his round ( which it should be) but that same round Ricky shot -16. Pretty much went unnoticed.
Disc on top of the basket have never counted and don’t to this day. Discs that wedge in the cage used to not count but do count as of now.
wedgies DID count in the original rules, got outlawed, now back again
@@markmcgarity thanks for the input, never knew that
I think the top should count haha, it’s way harder to make that stick than sticking it in the side of the tray.
@@playdiscgolf1546 Yeah, but I think its never intentional so it doesn't feel like rewarding skill.
Technically if the disc is on the top of the basket an is touching chains with the new wording it should counts
McBeth's back-to-back aces in NYC was pretty course-breaking too.
I could watch that Simon's drive again and again and never get bored.

Worse than the negative you speak of is the common negativity you are speaking with.
@@owenmcdonald5806The problem with using video review in this case is not every card is on camera. This gives an edge to players who are on coverage.

McBeth shot -17 not -18 at Fountain Hills. Highest rated round ever. 17 birdies one par. Hole #9.
Basket hangers and wedgies count now. On top of the basket does not count.
So McBeth's drive would be an ace today. And AJ's putt would count now.
Terrible rule change IMO
I once had a disk land on top of a basket, then fell down into the basket.
There was one time I flicked a esp flex Zone straight through the basket and it stayed in.
I feel like disc golf owes Cory Ellis a stroke.
He starts the next tournament at -1

Didn't expect to see Jordan Wiseley in this video.

It would count. Rule says supported by cage or chains. Basket Foot, or on top does not count.
What about that hole where PM just putted off the tee and then spike hyzered to the green? I think it was from last year?
Starting to think I imagined this because I can’t find anything about it
Pauls should be same rules as ob if the disc is over the line it should count
It does now.
You missed the big one, of intentionally throwing it OB past the basket.
You left out Paul McBeth -18 at Great Lakes open

No need to be an ass
Taco does not ruin a disc look up my taco ace it’s dope I still play with that BuzZz everyday and yes I taco a BuzZz lol
