    These videos make it look so easy to do. It’s NOT when you’re doing it in the garage on a creeper.😤

      You got that right. Even with air tools it's not easy laying on your back doing jobs like this. My dream garage has a vehicle lift in it- but I don't see that happening.

    You should have turned the lower bolt around and installed the nut from behind for the next time the shock is serviced. The nut clearance looks like that one-hundred-eighty degree switch will work better for the future.

      @silvere36 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Looks like if it was turned, the bracket doesn't have to come off next time.

      Exactly what I was thinking. The bolt/nut combo should have been installed at the factory so it could be removed.
      poor execution on Toyota's part.

      @@jasonh8043 You can't use a torque wrench on the nut with it turned around. But I turned it around anyway to make it easier next time.

      That bracket is super easy to take off. Toyota might have purposely oriented the bolt like that so in the unlikely event that the nut falls off the bolt can't fall out.

    Their shocks are a complete c**p!!
    Stay away from it, I just wasted 4 hours replacing my wife’s shocks, the same ones they are installing in this video and the car is worse than what it was before. The car doesn’t feel stable at all, just spend a few bucks more and buy genuine Toyota shocks!

  • @barryneary12
    @barryneary12 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    So is there any reason the lower shock bolt can't be reversed so it can be accessed next time so you wouldn't have to remove the lower bracket?

  • @block4565

    Great video! Should one use blue lock tight, or even anti seize on the bolts? I understand they do different things,

    I just reviewed the Toyota tech info for this. It says to put the wheel back on and lower the vehicle before torquing the shock bolts. I think there is access to the lower bolt to do it that way, but I'm not sure about the upper.

      +Captain Stress We appreciate the feedback. Sometimes there are multiple ways to accomplish the same repair.

    • @StompedAgain
      @StompedAgain 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or put car on jack stand and jack up swing arm until car slightly lifts off stand. That is same force as having car on wheels on ground. Easier access to tighen bolts that way.

    Is it just me or is anyone else getting OCD when re-using 10-year-old bolts to put on a brand-new shock?
