    PVC gets brittle in the sun. Please paint the PVC so that it has a longer life expectancy.
    Wing nuts may allow you to change your height/length much faster! 👍
    Bamboo also is another good source, since it has the strength of steel. It has been used to build bike frames and other countries even use it for scaffolding in construction.

    Great video! I was looking at welding my own, but this way is much lighter. The axle/bushing part particularly is much appreciated.

    Thank you.
    I am looking at making my own bike trailer and this was very useful.
    Some ideas i was going to use for my design - was not the greatest but with how you did you’re trailer, I have a butter understanding to what will be need to reworked so it will work better. The wheels and how to hook trailer to bike need more work on my design.
    I need to think more about the design and what i am going to use, PVC is still the way to go - and love the ideas of using screws and not glue. Thanks for that.

      I'm thinking of using the tips to make a bike trailer with only one wheel, located in the center between the pvc long pipes - like the Burley Coho, but using mostly PVC.

    Mahalo for the nice video, you have some great ideas here that I am not seeing in other videos. I am building and electric trike and your video is helpful.

    Great job on your fabrications! Rather ingenious as a matter of fact. But brother, I need to tell you it's hard to watch you work around the power tools, especially the table saw. Just a little advice, lower the table saw blade so that it's a fraction above what you're cutting. Push sticks also should be used whenever your hands are between the blade and the fence. Also, gloves... They are your friend.

    • @XLessThanZ
      @XLessThanZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the constructive comments. Probably some inventions for table sawing might be a good video. I've tried push sticks, but there are times when they are a little unsafe. I've tried long handle pliers (for small pieces), but still the same result. Inventing something else would be a good idea. Thanks for bringing that up. I didn't think about it because I've been doing this all my life. I think I have something in mind. Be safe. 🤔🤔

    could this be modified to use with my electric wheelchair?... I need something for grocery shopping

    • @XLessThanZ
      @XLessThanZ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I looked up some wheelchairs and it depends on how the shopping cart connects to it. I noticed some with a metal bar parallel and sticking up just above the back of the seat. It could slip over that with a snap on strapped in place. The only thing that might be tough is the cart requires some space to make a turn. Where I live is easy to manuever in the wide bike lanes. On the sidewalk, a sharp turn might give you trouble. Hope this helps.

    How do you make a hitch to attach to rear bicycle cargo rack? I want to be able to use the rear cargo rack (for lighter items) and bicycle shopping cart trailer for heavier items ( milk, etc.)

    • @XLessThanZ
      @XLessThanZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      My son in the video was about a 100 lbs, but I would have been OK with 50 lbs more. I think a weakness on this cart might be the axle bending before the PVC breaks.

    I just noticed that the background at the start of the video is not stacked boxes but a wall in a garage. That is some horrible and unsafe electrical work putting all those panels and wiring in a place that can get hit by vehicles.

      The building is pretty old so they probably avoid code maybe because of grandfathering.

  • @BIKEMAN21

    Nice video. I'm actually surprised this worked because swivel castors are designed for slow speed operation such as shopping cart. At high speed the caster will start shake and vibrate wildly which causes loss of control. What you really want is both of the front tires to be mounted on the same axle exactly how your rear axle assembly is done. The only difference is you mount the front axle to a pin/ castor that allows rotation, then attach that to a fork type arm that pivots which will give you up and down movement and the other end attaches to the seat post. Similar to this design , you can click the picture to zoom in on the mechanism www.roofmaster.com/product/505437-4-wheel-trailer-wnon-flatlite/ There are many variations of this design and have been used even on horse and buggy configurations. I actually will be attempting to build something similar as a bike trailer.

    • @XLessThanZ
      @XLessThanZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hah, now you tell me 😉. That's actually what it did, but I found that angleing the castors (like how the cart is sloped) prevents that. Probably a better idea to try what you said in your comment. I'll direct people to it in the Description...Thanks for that tip.👍

      @@XLessThanZ I think he is missing 3rd axis of rotation / roll. In 5th wheel heavy duty class 5 truck and trailer normally is no 3rd axis of rotation though. thats why if trailer is blown over it pulls the truck over also. For a bike you must have 3rd axis because when you ride your bike tilts during turns.

    Do you know what the weight capacity of this is?

    • @XLessThanZ
      @XLessThanZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The most weight I tested was 100 lbs. Something like that for a cart, though, depends on the terrain. 100 lbs on smooth paved road will be fine, but 100 lbs on bumpy dirt road or trail like conditions will cause the axle to bend from the bouncing. Also, glueing PVC together wouldn't be recommended for this project because PVC glue is not structurally sound and the pipes will come apart over time. Screws will handle the weight better.

    Too much metal fabrication on an Overweight RattleFest . Many poor ideas.
    Easier to buy one that just works, You bigly overspent. Could have bought a better one for what you spent in $ and time.
    but the build reflects the quality of the Walmart tow bike's false economies.
