I read the book again just last week. Everytime Atticus speaks in the book I hear Gregory Peck's voice and I see Mr peck standing, sitting, shooting like he did in the movie. The actors and the characters are forever one in my mind. This movie is a classic and no one should ever attempt to remake it or colorize it. Leave it black and white. Atticus has exited.
She looks the same, and seems like such a nice person to sit and chat with.. Timeless movie and book. A little trivia, John Badham, her older brother, directed the movie Saturday Night Fever.
@@henryjackson2357 a real idiot who`s hasn't even seen the movie,..hahah what a moron ...seriously people like you i diagnose as narcissistic ,..enjoy yourself ,..most of you people know nothing else
I studied the book in school which led me to originally see the film in class. To this day To Kill A Mockingbird still has so much to say about the many harsh issues that humanity struggles with.
Actually, Scout dress up as a ham only once in her lifetime - and that was for a school party sometime around Halloween - probably a "pre-Halloween" party - before Halloween was the holiday it became in the late 20th Century!!!!!!!
It's a blessing that To Kill A Mockingbird can still inspire people today. It's certainly a most special reminder of why films have always been such an important part of our lives.
Scout is and always will be my favorite child character. Mary did so well. .. Such a golden perfect movie. And such a good book.. The story is priceless
To our beloved Scout ❤. It is said by experts in the know that your Brilliant and outright Precious performance in this movie has been viewed by many hundreds of millions of people worldwide! Far more than the majority of all other actors/actresses. I saw this all time great movie when it premiered in Atlanta when i was11 years old. Close to.your and Philip's age. I frequently listen to Maestro Elmer Bernsteins HEAVENLY score and when I do I think of you,Jem, Atticus and Boo❤😂 I am convinced that the Heavens abided with you all from the beginnin🙏😇God Bless.
She was nominated for best supporting actress. And she should have won easily. Her acting in that movie was natural, convincing and totally believable. One word: WOW
Rick Leblanc So true, except that year she was up against a young actress who gave probably the greatest performance EVER by a child...Patty Duke in The Miracle Worker!
Our class was given the assignment of reading the book before I saw the movie and, when I finally did see the movie, I was struck by the fact that visual experience was absolutely identical to what I had imagined when I read the book. Obviously, Harper Lee's writing was so descriptive that the set designer saw what I imagined when reading the book. That's the mark of a talented writer. TRIVIA: Harper Lee and Truman Capote (another talented writer) were life-long friends and collaborators.
I can't think of another film where so many people gave such iconic performances and drew on so much emotion. And Mary Badham outdid them all. No disrespect to Patty Duke, but Miss Badham got robbed.
Perhaps more than any other novel adapted to the screen, the movie Mockingbird more accurately captured the look & feel, and certainly the character's personalities of Miss Lee's great story than any in my memory.
@@persiatuvim7476 Also to give a good account of the difference between racism - deliberate choice of a person to see another as less than they are, and socialized (if you will) racism - the "racism" that you have simply because it's what you hear, it's what you see, and it's what you're taught and you don't know any better or any other way to think. We still have both kinds with us today, in all races - not just in one, contrary to what many say or would have you believe.
Nice touch that the president she mentions was Barack Obama. In 2012 "Mockingbird" was screened at the White House as a part of its fiftieth anniversary celebration and its recognition by the American Film Institute.

In my opinion, Mary Badham's portrayal of Scout is the best performance I've ever seen done by an actress.
Than you haven't seen many movies
That's his opinion man-she was unforgettable-I have an opinion that Lionel Barrymore is the best actor in Its a wonderful Life

What an amazing little actress she was back then!! A superlative actress by all accounts🙏🙏🙏🙏.
This is my favorite movie and I also loved the book. I think it swept you into the real world. You could just feel like you're one of the cast.

Jeff Schwartz how was scout when she dress up a ham?
It was for a harvest festival, probably before Halloween.

Her scene in front of the courthouse where she talks to Mr. Cunningham and diffuses the tense situation blows me away.

Mary Badham is very beautiful, she still looks like Scout!
Just watched The Bewitching Pool episode of Twilight Zone. One of my faves.
